did I miss something or was the original question not addressed? I too would be interested to see how many existing elders visit this site and what makes them tick. I got lost in all the bickering. Can someone rein the horse in and address the question. I AM INTERESTED in the answer.

How about Sister brownose? I lived in a small town in Southern Oregon when I began pioneering at the young age of 18. The cong only had two elders when we first moved in but then one of the elder fled because of all the BS. The last remaining elder had a wife who was a pioneer as well, and let me tell you she wanted to be the only one in the cong. I would meet for service and "car groups" had already been made so there was no room for me. All of her adorning fans kissed her ass and it was oh Julia said this, Julia said that etc. She was the official expert on the Aid Book and carried it around like a cross in a monistary. Imagine when the S--t hit the fan when her elder hubby was caught in bed with the only Mini. Servant's wife who happen to be the next door neighbor. Surprise Julia did not have much to say about that. Karma???? YEP

Black Sheep: Thanks so much for the official word. Wow that is a very broad brush stroke. Violates all bounds of what is socially exceptable????? Who's society? Is it the lilly pristine views of the GB in New York. How about the folks in the Sudan, Asia, Jordan??? All societies have different clothing styles, child rearing opinions, hair styles, family values......... the list goes on in on. Is the template we are supposed to follow that of the pic's in the WT literature? Gad's it is getting worse by the minute..... and me without my Kool-Aid. I am sooooooooooo glad to be out.

Okay let's just say that some elderberry (I love that !!!) comes by my house sees say my tatoo, makes a comment about it and I say I don't think it is any of his business. Is that disrespect or just setting boundries? I recently brought up the topic of voting here on JWN. If I have a campaign sign in my front yard and the little church ladies come by and see it and report it am I quilty of brazin conduct? When do they start the wire taps and peaking in the window. I bring this up not necessarily to get answers but to point out how nuts it has gotten. The org is following the pattern of controlled thinking we are experiencing in the US. We are with the government and we are here to help. Is that brazin conduct........?? are they not being neutral and siding with "worldly thinking". If anyone has the actual wording of the "church elder book" or what ever the hell they call it I would love to see it. I have only been hooked up with JWN since February and I have sooooooo appreciated the experiences and support from you all. If there ever was any doubt that leaving the JW org was the right thing to do all doubt has been removed. Yicks what a wacky sick cult. Harleybear

Okay I just have to ask. It seems that this whole "brazin conduct" stuff is just the catch all for the ORG. Now I am new to JWN and have not shadowed the door of a KH for years but REALLY?? what is this. Now I ride a Harley and have tattos, I am mid 50"s professional business owner, look like the neighbor next door. So what threat am I? What is brazin conduct? Will I die at the big A for riding a bike and having tatoo's? Hell we have a wonderful friend who is a former Hells Angel who is one of the most spiritual people we know. Our house mate is DF'ed, and gay. These are our friends and again amazingly in touch with a Higher Power. What do you all think?? Harley bear

Joe: My hubby is a cop here in the US. He has 33 years on the job here in Denver CO and 3 years in the early 70's in New York City. A white , blonde, blue eyed boy in Bed Sty. YICKS. He is sooooooo ready to retire. Here we have a DROP plan Defered Retirement Option Plan in which you techincally retire but continue to work at your same rank, pay etc. You can only do that for 5 years. You continue to get paid the same salary but your pention is put into an investment fund so you get a much larger fund when you really leave. He is in very good health but like your experience so many die when they are either close to retiring or just after. The key is to keep active and very open to options. I can not image being unarmed. As a civilian I have a Concealed permit. The US is big on our right to bear arms and quite honestly taking away that right just gives the gov. all the more control. I also know that the org has a big hissy fit about guns but toooooooooo bad. I am a retired Paramedic and I was in the suck a lot. Guess what I carried a gun. I no longer am in that line of work but I would love to hear others input on the subject of personal protection and other countries positions. Harley bear

Truth B Absolutely to not make a decision IS a decision. Glad to hear you are in the mix. As to jury duty I certainly understand the hesitency. I have a hall pass on that here in the States as my hubby is in law enforcement and I am the LAST person they want on a jury. I have only been called for criminal cases thus far but if I were called to a civil case I would probably get picked. JW facts. I agree about Ron Paul. I think he is sincere and says his mind however in the States money is king and Mitt has the bucks. I find it sad that with every interview of the canidate no matter who it is they talk about "the fight" and " winning". I did not know that we had a heavy weight bout in the White House nor is this the Super Bowl. Political agenda is killing this country. Ego's too. As a side bar I am very active in a movement here in our community to stop oil well fracking, yet I find it interesting that Obama was pitching fracking saying it is safe, ecologically sound, etc. Huuuuuu wonder which oil company paid for that position. I worked in the oil fields back in the 70"s and I can tell you with out any hesitation that the US has a boat load of oil just quietly hanging out in wells neatly capped. The barrels of oil in reserve IN THE GROUND that have been tapped and capped is astonishing.

As we all know voting or any political involvement is a big bad no no in the JW org. I actually have been a registered voter since I was 18 and was still in the org. Obviously I kept that very quiet until I made my break from the org. I got involved in local political causes my neighbors ask me to head up the Neighborhood Watch. I am more interested in local matters than national political agenda.
With the "silly season upon us" aka Prez. election 2012 I am wondering if any of you out there vote, if so to what degree, local, national? If not why? Have any of you all considered running for office or are you now in office? Are any of you involved in small causes such as Homeowners Associations, charity events, fund raisers that kind of stuff. Would love to hear the feedback.
