I think Laymen are the biggest and also most JW like. Wiki says they have 15,000 members. They have their own Russell in PSL Johnson. They have some of the harsh herd disciplines of the JWs. Free are liberals and the Associated goes on with Russell's old light

Russell's followers in British Columbia?
by dubstepped inso i was interviewing a guy for a podcast episode today and he went and saw his grandmother over christmas to gather some history.
he wasn't raised a jw but it turns out his family was actually opposed to the jws because they went all the way back to russell.
according to him (from her stories), they refused to follow rutherford and that's where the split took place.

Did You Know Any "Genuine"" Old School Anointed?
by Number 6 ingrowing up in scotland in the 1970s in scotland the anointed were few and far between, but we had one old dude in our cong who claimed to be one of the anointed.
in the days when it was taken seriously.. i'd be curious how you viewed them.
thing is, he wasn't an elder, or even a ministerial servant, just a plain old publisher.. but he was revered like he had a hotline to jesus.. the other week i was talking to a friend of similar age to me but who hung around the wt a lot longer than i did, and he just commented "oh him... he was a doddery old fool who used to just sit and piss himself.

I remember ny mother talked of an older woman that "took of the symbols". My mother was not impressed though, believing she was backslidden. There is a really sad story to the garbage teaching of the 144,000. Russell started out with claiming everybody would be raised for a chance in the millenium with the exception of a few real baddies and those that failed the run for "the high calling". Then sometime in the 40s I believe, Rutherford rejected Russell's generous and fanciful understanding of the Matthew 25:31-45 and we got all this' everybody must be saved from the Armageddon slaughter' and the poor average JW is not even a brother of Jesus but is judged according to how he treats the brothers of Jesus, the 144,00 and the org. I remember my poor old father struggled a lot with this diving into forbidden old light, who was right, Russell or Riutherford

Dancing is a big part of black culture. It is difficult for me to imagine of black / African / African-American congregations just sitting still, but I guess that has happened? I am pretty certain JW org has been forced to allow certain cultural differences for decades?

Finkelstein,
It is always ups and downs with human beings. Without the Bible, there had been no western civilisation with all its blessings and cursings. Right now it seems the western elitarians are so ashamed with what western civilisation has given them that they feel obliged to let 3rd wold immigrations ruin it. Whatever as long as men rule, this world will never be perfect. Perfection is for heaven

Terry,
John 14:8-9 New International Version (NIV)
8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
I would add another thought, I think often when we read of God in the old testament, it is really angels representing him. given authority by him and sometimes even letting him down. -

The great cure is contraception. The less good cure is diseases, famines and other means of death. There is certainly a limit to how many humans we can be on this earth. Average living is getting much better, famine is decreasing, infancy mortality is dropping. It is a complicated balance. We have to drown the poor in condoms so to speak.

I think the Oneness understanding is much better and I hope this view will become more popular outside the strict sectarian circles of the UPC sect. Many more believers deserve and need to know it. We have the freedom today, no longer are people burned alive for doctrines. Yes Jesus is Jehovah but a being does not exist in three persons. It is not a divine mystery, just something men made. With the Bible in hand, we can see that the Son is God existing as man. God reveals himself in many manners and one of these is his incarnation. The Word of John 1, which is both the cause of all things in the philosophy of Hellenism and the action and mind of God in revelation the old testament, became man in the Son of God.
