blondie, that anecdote about large numbers transferring and refusing to be reenlisted should speak volumes. It's a pity that the higher ups aren't hearing or heeding the message.

The Curious Case of Cameroon in Africa in the World Report
by LaFrancia inwe know that in africa warwick/watchtower is adopting a policy of more congregations with fewer publishers in each congregation.
this explains the growth of congregations in the 2024 world report.. cameroon world report 2019 vs. 2024.. with the same number of publishers the congregations grew by about 13%.. will there be many more curious cases out there?.

The GB signing Bibles still interests me. In the thread below, Randy says that one of the things Russell would have later been disfellowshipped for was "signing his own books". Was there ever a "collecting autographs is a form of idolatry" thing within the organisation?

Diogenesister: "I think it makes sense given the world at the moment, wars in the middle east and the (sorry cant get rid of this silly face) Ukraine etc make people nervous, theres lots of talk in the media about "WW3" etc together with inflation and food prices etc"
Wars in the middle east, the Russian threat, inflation, talk about WW3. I'm old enough to remember similar fears in the 70s. Lots of idiots with their fingers on buttons back then, too. Let's hope that these "interesting times" will blow over in similar fashion.

In my contact with JWs during the 1990s, I got to thinking. "The WT says it's the Ark. Noah took 120 years to build the Ark. Add 120 to 1914 , and you get 2034. I never posted that thought to this or earlier boards (wasn't one called H2O, or some such? ๐ค) because, to be quite frank, I didn't want to give the WT any ideas.
Thinking about it further now, 1919 is the true foundational date. That would have been when the WT was declared to be the Ark, typologically* speaking. So, WT gets a further reprieve, with their final date stretched to 2039, once you add the 120 years.
* Or is that antitypologically? I never understood that earlier JW stuff about types and antitypes. ๐ Neither did the current GB, apparently; they've declared the whole concept null and void.

"what jonahstourguide means is that the videos in the 2024 district convention focusing on Jesus were made with Australian actors in the roles, just check out the angel Gabriel's accent in them!"
What was the reasoning behind having it outsourced to a different branch? Was it Australian Bethel who was responsible for making it? Or did they just get a bunch of Australian people to film it in the American video facility for some unknown reason? The more I find out, the more questions it raises.

My story of becoming a circuit overseer after Kin Suen visited our congregation.
by ExCircuitOverseer inhere is my story of becoming a missionary after having kin suen (pronounced โshinโ) as my circuit overseer.
my father wanted me to go to college, but since he wasnโt a witness, i knew he just didnโt understand how close we were to the end.
i had actually become a circuit overseer!

"Looking back as I woke up I really I thought I could bring the organization down in a year. Wishful thinking and lack of knowledge of how strong the organization is. I thought if I could convince a few people it would snowball. It never happened."
The whole religion is based on: "If you see something that causes you to doubt, look away!" That impulse is ground into JWs from day one. You saw a lot of things over the years that you could no longer "look away" from.
Unfortunately, those you thought would be honestly interested in TTATT, were well conditioned to look away, and would have ignored you as just another opposer. The WT is good at what it does (in some areas, anyway).

"WT used to be proud of this difference..."
They still proclaim pride in their differences, but a lot of those differences are being whittled down to the point of non-significance. This so called difference is just one among many.

I'm not convinced by their figures. Especially the ones for Osteen and Joyce Meyer. Those look seriously low. And the figure for Kenneth Copeland? Laughable! That bastard himself brags that God made him a billionaire.
As to the one and two million dollar net worth after forty or so years in a ministry: So what? It could mean that the family home that they bought all those years ago happened to be in the right suburb for the property boom.
