I see them as doubling down on his legacy.
Yes, many things have changed. But what of any real importance?
They've changed on beards, women's slacks, toasting? Peripheral items, fluff, mere frippery!
They've made disfellowshipment and shunning a tiny bit less obviously evil? But they still haven't removed the drive to baptise minors into what is essentially a contractual agreement that the organisation takes and treats very seriously.
They've lessened the attention to the blood doctrine? They still haven't disbanded the Hospital Liaison Committees; they still have people who try to make sure that certain members of the congregation die in hospital!
They still disparage and discourage higher education at every turn.
Ted Jaracz's masterpiece, the weaponising of the two witness rule in CSA cases. They still say "Call the elders" in CSA cases. They still tell the elders to "Call the branch '. Nowhere is it simply encouraged to "Call the police".
Let me know when the GB changes something of actual importance. 🙄

Why "Removed" instead of "Disfellowshipped or Shunning"
by blondie ini was mulling this over last night...too much free time, i know.
both disfellowshipping and shunning indicate the action of avoiding someone, taking them out of your sphere of associates.
probably is a better sound bite to say "removed.

If they aren't members anymore, then how are they even "removed". Removal implies that they were members in the the first place, but they're not allowed to even claim that anymore. Seriously: "individuals"?? "Unpaid drones" or "compelled donors" might be better classifications.
As I see it, this is part of Bethel's game of "What's in it for the Great Crowd?" And their answer ultimately boils down to "Not much". 😔 They're not even members anymore.

SPIMI Friend Asked Me For The Name Of My (FORMER) Congregation
by HiddlesWife ina present-spimi friend texted me to ask me the name of my congregation--which is my former and last one that i left right after becoming completely/presently pomo.
she was a longtime buddy, who was pimq-pimo-ppimi-on-occasion for many decades.
then shortly before the pandemic, she was dating a brother who was reaching out to become an ms [mind you, this guy was a mic-handler for several decades as well--until an older brother (who was a close friend of his uncle--who converted him into the cultporation years ago--encouraged him to the point of harrassing him to move up the wt corporate ladder🙄😤].

Well, it's two weeks later, and he didn't return. I must admit to being somewhat disappointed. I was ready to receive him as cordially as is possible, but he's a no-show. 😦
I cleared my schedule for him and he didn't turn up. So, if he turns up at some later time, he'll have to be content to fit in with my schedule. 🙄
Edited to add: not that there was a lot riding on the whole thing. It's just nice when people turn up when they say they will, regardless of religious affiliation or otherwise.

Balaamsass2 has the same gut feeling as do I. I don't know how effective it would be, but complete radio silence might be the best strategy. But I have no personal experience of navigating the WT minefield, so I don't know if that is even good advice.
I would expect that the less you say and the less they know, the harder it would be to convene a JC against you.

Make sure your medical notes are up to date
by moley ini recently had a heart attack, after arriving at a&e they gave me an angiogram and it was discovered i need a bypass (quadruple).
will i was being prepared for surgery to consultant said he needed to speak to me and he said on your notes it says you’re a jw (i’ve been out over 20 years) i said no and i was willing to accept blood and my notes were updated.
i dread to think what would have happened if i had been unconscious and unable to clarify the situation.

Also glad that you allow them to treat you to the full extent of modern medical practice. And especially glad that the difference between now and twenty years ago was caught before it might potentially have killed you!!
