A lot of Phil Spector's music sounds surprisingly fresh...
Most notably...
River Deep, Mountain High by Ike and Tina Turner
Be My Baby and Walking in the Rain by the Ronettes
And then he kissed me by the Crystals

seeing as i'm dowloading songs so i can blast them at the neighbour kids, i was thinking, what songs stand the test of time?
what songs do you listen to over and over again and never get tired of.
here's my list.. if you tolerate this - manic street preachers.

my story: and i apologize in advance for the long post.. i was born to special pio parents and i attended my first meeting when i was 6 days old, which was unusual in the 50s and 60s because babies were usually quarantined for the first month or so.
my mother had a poor childhood and was often placed with uncaring relatives which served as foster homes.
my father was raised in a single parent home by his divorced mother who was looking for answers.
Your dad kinda reminded me of Peter Griffen's dad on The Family Guy...particularly the episode where he told an entire audience at an awards dinner that they were on God's bad side...

ok i got a question for everyone....when was the last time god had dealings with mankind either through dreams or prophets etc... before jesus came?
and how long before that etc...?
I thought the JW's believe god continues to talk to the people...well, the 'Faithful and Discreet Slave' anyway... I think I know exactly who's talkin' to 'em...

i must say, i never thought that i would see the day when i would find a site about disillusioned (mostly) jehovah's witnesses, but low and behold...one truly exists.
first let me start off by saying thank you to the creators of this site, and i'll have you know that i've been lurking for several days now and i am just finding the time to finally log on.
i've been a member of the borg for over 20 years now, been baptised for about 14 of those years and now i find myself in the most unusual of places.

.
i just watched the movie constantine
any thoughts???????
I usually despise most of Keanu Reeves films however...
I actually kinda liked this one
I think you took it too seriously, it really does mirror the narrative of a comic book in some ways, whether it captured the feel of the Hellblazer sieries I can't say but I thought it was highly entertaining. I will say that you probably found as I did the whole thing a little hokey, Keanu Reeves saving the world, the mediator between heaven and hell...well...lots of good movies have a hokey premise even...I dare say... Lord of the Rings

i am a huge fan of the twilight zone and i wondered if anyone on the board was a fan.
since the strangeness of the whole series mirrors my own jw life in some ways i found several episodes strangely fascinating.
interestingly my first experience watching it was in the reprised version of the series in the 80's and there was an episode where a shadowy figure lived under a kid's bed in return he would not hurt the owner until... and that's what i think made the series unique in how they added a twist that made every episode special, disturbing, or thought-provoking.
For those who have asked, the name of the episode where the couple wake up in a small town and can't find their way out is called "A Stopver in a Quiet Town" For those who have seen it, I won't reveal the ending.

i am ex pioneer, ex ministerial serpent not been near a kh in 6 years, smoke, drink had a live in gf until recently, but not dfd, so much for keeping the cong clean!
still, none of my "brothers" with a couple of exceptions, speaks to me now, their way of trying to win me back perhaps?
not that it'd work - i am happy now after 10 years of bs from people who ought to know better but don't
Maybe they thought from your pic you looked like Harry Potter and your stay at Hogwarts represented a clear break away from the Christian Faith.

I think the ones in the 60's are the best, the series from the 80's was where I was first introduced to it. "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" with William Shatner thinking there's a gremlin on the wing of the plane is possibly my favorite of the older episodes.
