Remember, Ebert will always be known as the only modern film critic to give The Godfather II a less than spectacular review (the same with Full Metal Jacket and Raising Arizona, films he still gets emails on for reviews he wrote years ago).
Roger Ebert also has a history of catering certain reviews to a particular audience. He said in a much publicized recent review of The Longest Yard that he didn't care for it but he gave it a good review anyway. Likewise he gave The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy a weak rating because he felt the audience for the book would of been displeased with the cinematic result. Above anything else the actual use of "stars" does not accurately identify if a movie is bad or not, time will tell if "War of the Worlds" is a masterpiece. If you think a movie is a good then base it on what you see, feel, and think.

I'm sorry but...erm....COLDPLAY are overrated and then some. Despite the intricate and beautifully produced music, every song reaks of self-pity. This is the kind of music Lisa Simpson would listen too. (You may commence the stoning). Oasis's new album is great, dont see what problems you're referring to TIJ, "Mucky Fingers" is one of the best songs they've released in a long time. I don't get the Blur dig, I saw them in concert last year and they were nothing short of brilliant minus Graham Coxon.

Best bands this year according to me were White Stripes, and Killer. Keane was rubbish, I just dont like his music (except that ONE song), Garbage were OK, Ian Brown is brill, but I have seen better from him, Chas N Dave (nuff said).
Would have loved to see Ian Brown (Stone Roses fan here)... I was suprised when he did a remake of Thriller, which I thought was better than the original.

What words and phrases do Brits and others see as 'American'?
by sonnyboy inas an american, i see words such as cheerio, blimey, bloody (when referring to something negative), loo, bugger, fag (cigarette), etc.
as chiefly british (i suppose they are).. what words and/or phrases do you consider to be chiefly american?
i'm honestly unaware of which words i use that may not be used in other english-speaking countries.

especially since some of you are fighting the battle of the bulge and dieting as am i.. you see, its been about two months since i went on this diet, and its gone along pretty well so far.
