Heresy of the Month
by thinker inheresy of the month (from a website).
don't you hate it when someone you know comes up with some new thing that you have never heard about?
you sit there in apparent ignorance as they pontificate about the proofs and merits of some idea so far beyond common knowledge that it can only be revealed by people of exceptional enlightenment such as they.

Thinker and lark
I have a question to ask (but I'm NOT sowing seeds of doubt, ok!!)
But what is the definition of a month? Is it 28 days or 30 days?
What happens when the pagan rulers of this world proclaim a month to be 31 days? Is this acceptable to the Lord? Am I allowed to call that extra day as being part of the month? Must I pray vigilently, so as not to be tempted to include it as a part of the Holy Month?
Also, please forgive me, for I have sinned. I fell into temptation yesterday and ate a Lindt chocolate. It was offered to me by a co-worker, and I gave in to sin. Please forgive me, PLEASE !!!!

Spy vs. Spy
by TR inprisca's comments about wol made me wonder about official wts sanctioned spies and moles.
we all know for a fact that to the wts lies are ok, and spying does happen.
does anyone know of officially appointed wts spies, or do hard-core militant and/or plain old sneaky jw's just feel it is their duty?

Hey Larc - I like men that like women! Cos I REALLY like men, though I don't like women - I only like women in a platonic, non-sexual way
And yes, we have possums too. So how did they get from America to Australia? Or vice versa? Maybe Noah had so many of the little critters running around, he couldn't drop them all off at once!
Wouldn't be surprised what turns up in the Awake. I'm sure they scrounge around looking for answers, just like the rest of us. The difference is, we don't force others to believe our opinions as fact.

G'day Larc! How'r you goin?
It is SWELTERING here in the land of Oz. [>:(] This week has been a heatwave, with temps in the high 30s and 40s (Celcius)! I have a fan blowing on me right now, but I wish I had an air conditioner!
Anyhow, I wonder too about the kangaroos and koalas and wombats and Tasmanian Devils and other animals that live solely in Australia. Obviously, once they got here, they couldn't get off, except to a few neighbouring islands like New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, when they may have been transported by humans.
Maybe Noah gradually dropped them off at different intervels - "oh, this looks like a nice place to put the lions"... "how about putting the polar bears up on this corner"?? Then what was left he dropped off in Australia, hence the hodgepodge of animals we have, and the absence of animals that other continents share - bears (America & Europe), Wild cats (Americas and Africa).... but why are there only kangaroos in Australia?
What about the platypus? He's made up of all different bits and pieces. Did God decide to use the left-overs from making the all the other animals to make the platypus? ie. Bill and webbed feet like a duck, smooth fur like an otter, lays eggs like a reptile...

Non-JW Friends...

The one thing i realized about 'worldly' people vs. JW's, they weren't the 'demons' I grew up thinking they were.
This is soooo true! I grew up with very much a "us & them"-type mentality. I was allowed to have some non-JW kids as friends, only because there weren't any other JW kids at my school. Even so, it was still stressed that they weren't as good as my "brothers & sisters in the truth".
So even though they knew me better than the other kids in the Hall, even though they were the only ones who supported me with the problems I went through as a kid (due to family sickness & death etc), even though they respected my religious beliefs, they were still to be seen as somewhat inferior to those that really were not true friends.
As an adult, I fully adhered to the "bad associations" thing and refused to develop friendships with people outside the JWs. I had guys at work interested in me, yet I turned up my nose to them, because "they don't love Jehovah".
So now that I'm inactive, I am very isolated in a social way. I have had to learn to develop friendships based on common interests and character, not just because they share the same religion. And that is a very hard thing to have to do as an adult. These people in the world have been doing it all their life, AND I'M LEARNING TO DO THIS AT THE AGE OF 30!!!! How warped is that????
So I am making new friends very, very slowly. I am very shy by nature, so it will take time. But I guess I have learned how to appreciate things for the second time around, including to value friends that are simply friends, and not religious associates.

Lesbianism is condemned in the Bible at Rom 1:24-27. Admittedly, it is usually in terms of men that homosexuality is discussed in the Bible, but it applies to women too.
