Way to go, SlayerLayer!!
I knew that pioneers had them, but were regular publishers entitled to these too?
What's this about claiming for service & travelling to conventions?? On what basis? Volunteer service? NOW you tell me!!!
with all of the discussion going on on the board lately about "all jw being ordained ministers," i thought i'd point out something that may be new to a lot of you.. your local congregation has wbts id cards which states the 'cardbearer is an ordained minister.
' they won't volunteer these to you, i had to reg pio for two years before i got mine.
however, they can come in handy when traveling!

i know that the answer is yes, but it would help me to hear your sentiments on this.
.
after you decided that the wbts, and thus jw's were not god's chosen earthly organization did you feel like you wanted to leave and forget god altogether?.
No, I haven't "left" God altogether.
I will be honest in saying that I have doubts and questions that can't be answered. Unlike my JW days, I don't expect black-and-white answers to be at my fingertips. I may be able to figure out these things in time, or I may not. At the moment, after 30 yrs of JW indoctrination, I've had enough of it all. At least for the time being.
I still believe in a Creator - when I'm around nature I feel closer to God than any building man could construct.
I would describe myself as spiritual more than "religious" - I believe in the principles of the Bible, but also believe in taking responsibility for one's own life, rather than relying on our Maker to solve everything for us.
Thank you for listening
incredible tale of jaw-dropping, eye-popping dishonesty from the borg!.
my father, who continues to be in the borg, managed the construction of one of those 48-hour wonders several years ago.
just a few months later, someone had a "welcome to the neighborhood bonfire" um, using the new kh as the bonfire.. the new hall was, of course, insured and application was duly made for payment so that another soaring, magnificent testament to man's spiritual longing could be constructed.. well.
Knowing what Lisa is like, I'm quite certain she was not implying you were lying, Francois.
When allegations of this nature are made, it is good to have some supporting evidence to back our claim. I know your father is a good enough source for you but the story is not one that we could use as evidence against the WTS if we say we learnt this "from a friend of a friend" so to speak.
Lisa says she has the credentials to investigate this claim. Let her make her investigations, and I'm sure we'll be interested in what she finds!
the wt definition of "only in the lord" meaning only dedicated witnesses of jehovah in good standing greatly narrows the field of eligible mates.
this has brought about some unusual unions because of the circumstances, involving people who would ordinarily not meet, let alone marry, if it were not for a shared belief system.. what unusual couplings have you seen in your jw days?
how large was your personal field of possibilities and did it include some unusual options?
Joel,
Now I know what was wrong with some of the guys I knew....
P.S. If the guy loves shopping more than you do..... RUN!!

Look,
no one was harmed, the kids are safe, the JWs hopefully have learnt their lesson, we can all sleep now, OK?
I guess we are going to agree to disagree on this thread. Just remember not all JWs are pedophiles.
my mother was labeled as having a jezebel spirit.
although she regular pioneered most all of her life.
she was out spoken and remained unmarried so she had no spiritual head.
Glad you remembered to include me, or else you would have got an ear-bashing!
i originally posted my story on h20 last november, and since then have found jehovahs-witness.com and have been lurking avidly and gratefully most days.
your comments have been enormously helpful in the process of treading carefully (we have family still in), and making a new life for ourselves.
were in the process of leaving the organization quietly after 40 years.

So that happened in your Hall too, huh? (Not-at-all-surprised Class)
Welcome to the board and I appreciate you will have many insights to share with us
first of all i would like to congratulate everyone who takes time out to enlighten the rest of us regarding hypocritical jw's.we all know someone who is not quite the person they portray themselves to be at the meetings, that "wolf in sheeps clothing" so to speak.this brings me to my point:-.
is there any reason why we cannot name these individuals?.
i would love to tell all my ex-congregationial associates about mr ........ and mrs ........,but i am not in a position to, or am i??.
FlabbyCabby (love the name, btw!)
I think it would be a very sad day if we had to resort to personal names in defending our stories. What is the point? How many in your local area would be reading your post? And even if there were ones who were in your area, what could be done then? What outcome are you wanting?
As well, it would be an easy way for them to point to the methods of the "devious and hate-filled apostates" that they warn the rank-and-file Witness about. And we know we aren't all like that!
With the internet, there is a great need for privacy. ANYONE and I mean anyone could be reading these threads. We can presume the average reader is "mostly harmless" but what if there was some freak reading this, perhaps one with a personal vandetta against the Witnesses? While we may not believe in the WTS theology anymore, does that give us ground to pave the way to possible physical harm? Why would we want to?
And harking back to what Jesus said, would we want to have the same done to us? Would we like it if someone published our names and locations in regards to past transgressions, whether real or perceived?
And what about justice? If we tell name names and what they did to us, are they going to have the right of reply? Or is that nulified simply because of their religious affiliation?
So while I understand your feelings, FlabbyCabby, these are just some things to think about.
And welcome to the board

I agree with what jezebel influence said - if this woman is so concerned about her children's safety, why did she allow her children's full names, location and photos to be published? Where's her pic, hmm?
I really think she is over-reacting. Nothing happened, as SixofNine said, it is a good opportunity for her to educate her children on stranger-danger, and children are SAFE!
Question for those have replied with righteous indignation on this thread : Are you all saying that you NEVER spoke to a child about the "good news" while in field service? You NEVER left a tract or magazine with one, if their parent wasn't there?
I think sometimes we get so filled up with hate/bitterness/condemnation for the WTS, that we forget what we were like as Witnesses ourselves. And the average Witness around today isn't that much different to we ourselves as people. The main difference is, we are out, while they are still in. Think about it.
