hi guys...i just wanted to share with you all something that happened over the weekend, that i found really weird.. on saturday i went to a cousins wedding.....we are quite a large extended family, not jw's(only my mom is a witness), so it was nice to be with the family on such special occasions.. throughout the evening i sat down with a cousins husband, who i hadn't seen for about two years.
we had a pint and he decided to get out a pack of cigars.
now these cigars were big fat ones (you know the cuban type)...he lit up.
She said she would have thought i was an idiot for smoking,
So would I. Just because you aren't JWs anymore, doesn't mean that smoking is good for you now.
Question for the smokers here : Why do you smoke, when the health hazards are abundantly clear?

i was raised a poor white child in the deep south...ok, florida, where i still am.
i was the typical slightly self righteous witness, miss goody goody, left school at 16 to pioneer, which i did for 4 years, met a guy and married him.
he had 2 kids from a previous marriage and we had 2 kids of our own.

when we leave the organization we are beginning to take responsibility for our own lives and not looking to others to make decisions for us.
growing into the person you are meant to be is an interesting and fulfilling journey.
here are some guidelines someone gave me many many years ago which i look at from time to time to see how i am going.. what is accepting personal responsibility?.

when i arrived about ten minutes before the meeting started, i felt like a ghost.
I have to address some points raised by DannyBear. I feel he is missing the reasons why Silentlambs is doing what he is doing.

As for the squealing of the tires in the car park, who HASN'T secretly fantasied about doing that? I know I have many times, LOL

I just find the "aww, we had to travel" whine a bit silly, considering that many others have to travel long distances each year to travel to their convention.
When I was a JW, I lived in a country town where the Circuit stretched for over 500miles north to south, east to west. To compensate for this, the circuit assemblies were alternated between two towns. One town would hold it for one assembly, the other town would hold the next assembly. So those who lived in the east spent no more than those who lived in the west. It was a fair deal.

with all of the discussion going on on the board lately about "all jw being ordained ministers," i thought i'd point out something that may be new to a lot of you.. your local congregation has wbts id cards which states the 'cardbearer is an ordained minister.
' they won't volunteer these to you, i had to reg pio for two years before i got mine.
however, they can come in handy when traveling!

I remember hearing this at the conventions during the 80s. They made a big fuss of how the "little one beome a thousand" was now literally coming true - numbers during the early 80s were now 1000x more than when they were "released" in 1919 (according to their explanation).
So now we are past the 90s, and Jehovah is still "speeding up the ingathering"??
If he was, wouldn't the numbers be increasing accordingly? As we know, the numbers actually decreased in the mid-80s, as well during the mid-90s. If it were not for the developing countries, the numbers of publishers would be declining, as we have seen in the Western world.
So if Jehovah was really behind this organisation, and "speeding up the ingathering", why is he "blessing" the developing world, and ignoring the West? Is he practising inverse discrimination?
