The Bible's Candid Nature as a Proof of Divine Inspiration
by under_believer inone of the proofs the witnesses (and others) use as proof of the bible's divinely inspired nature is its supposed candor in exposing israel's and others' flaws.
if it were written by men, the argument goes, they would have hidden their failures, inadequacies, and weaknesses.
so, we see moses taking credit for producing water from the crag; we see all of the israelite kings who "did what was bad in the eyes of yahweh.

The premise is that telling the truth is something impossible for humans to do. The idea that humans tell the truth only 99% of the time still leaves a gaping hole in the candor theory.
This is one of those arguments that are bundled together with other half baked arguments. But a bunch of weak arguments don't make a good argument.

Paul Did Not Write Hebrews
by Butters infor those of us who still read the bible, and believe it, it should be noted that paul did not write hebrews.
there is a clear statement in the bible that proves this rather easily.... hebrews 2:3 how shall we escape, if we neglect so great a salvation?
which having at the first been spoken through the lord, was confirmed unto us by them that heard;.

Notes from the 10/7 annual mtg of JWs
by looking_glass ini don't know if this was already posted, but i have gotten it a couple of times now from friends who are still active jws.
clearly it is ring the bell time, as you can tell by the notes taken.
enjoy.

I'm not saying the notes are inaccurate. How would I know. I wasn't there. But the simultaneous blanketing of the JW audience with the exact same summary is suspicious.
I'm pretty sure it sure it was an "approved" E-Mail.
JW's feel privileged to receive such a report and are eager to circulate it.

This report is clearly a PR piece sent out by the Watchtower. It simultaneously has shown up everywhere. Who wrote it? Nobody knows.
I've gotten three copies of it from different JW's in different parts of the country.
Why aren't there other reports circulating out there?
This is a very carefully contrived campaign.

The one time I got afraid was when the Russians placed missiles in Cuba. I was 16. And it turned out I had reason to be afraid. We came close to a nuclear war.
By the way Democrats (the old War Party) were in charge and they confronted Castro and Krushchev.
You have more reason to be afraid of Avian Flu - and people have quit talking about that already.

Would Everlasting Life under Jehovah's rulership appeal to you?
by frankiespeakin ini don't find it the least bit appealing to even think of living forever under the jehovah's rule because he is such an egocentric god.
always worrying if you make him mad.

I would have to see what its REALLY like. The Bible speaks about our not even being able to imagine what it would be like (eye has not seen and ear has not heard).
I take pride in being adaptable and open minded.

(For Christians) Why Human Organization Is Unnecessary
by AuldSoul incoming out of jws, one of the most thorough studies i have done is on the topic of human organization.
i have been very careful with this study for two reasons: (1) if human organization is important, then "where else do we go?
" is an important question whether or not that is the question peter asked jesus; and (2) if human organization is not important, it allows us to see christianity, fellowship, and our personal relationship with christ in a whole new way.. i set out to determine whether human organization was necessary (and therefore, important), not to prove that it is unnecessary.

I consider myself a Christian. You have a narrow definition that makes you intolerant. I can comment on any thread I choose. If you don't like it ignore me.
