  Meditation....

  i was wondering how many of you engage in meditation and if so what kind?

  i went to a new group today that does mindful meditation.

  it comes out of a buddihist tradition.

  I practice meditation everyday. Its a great way to get rid of the mental chatter. It helps my blood pressure and attention deficit.

  I am sure you would find NOTHING in the Watchtower that says a parent should act like that. And that is what you are implying. The vast majority of JW's would instantly look at your fathers behavior as weird and extremely punitive. "You fathers do not be irritating your children".

  This is a clear case of scapegoating. Face it your father had a nasty choleric temperament and you seem to have inherited his tendency to twist reality. Yeah that makes sense. A person is a member of some community/orgainzation/race/religion/fraternal society/nationality and THAT explains that persons freaky behavior. Ignore the fact that the vast majority of JW's would condemn your fathers behavior.

  How do you explain my situation? Paddling of kids was allowed in my school district. Fuck education???

  I love this land. It's wonderful. I have no desire to even see Europe, Scandanavia, Australia, New Zealand, China, Russia etc. Everything I could ever dream of is within my grasp.

  I will never leave this country unless my life depended on it. I think the constitution is more amazing than the ten commandments as a foundation for a new nation. We the people... says it all.

  On the other hand the USA has done some major damage in the way it deals with other countries. But I think this is an idictment of all humans. There isn't another country on the face of the earth that would behave any differently given the opportunity.

  would you take blood?

  im confused would i take blood if i was about to die and had no other alternative treatment well to me thats allways been a hard one one to answer and people have allways hated witnesses for refusing it or not giving blood to there own kids.you see my mothers due in to hospital on tuesday and having a major operation the problem for her is she is inactive as a jw and has no blood card which is upto date what do you think she should do 1.phone elders 2.trust in jehovah and refuse blood.3if it comes to the worst take blood and live.

  I not only would take a blood transfusion. I would eat blood soup if it meant my survival.

  Mark 7:18,19 "Are you not aware that NOTHING from OUTSIDE that passes into a man can defile him, since it passses, not into his heart but into his intestines and it passes out into the sewer? Thus he declared ALL foods CLEAN.

  I don't know how it can get any clearer than that. The biggest blasphemy against Jehovah is getting the people that bear his name to act like lunatics.

  Good advice but too late. The US should have threatened the Soviets back in the early 50's. They should have said that if they test a nulcear weapon they would immediately test one on them. The nuclear genie is out of the bottle. It will explode here.

  You couldn't find a better exposition of how the United States is Babylon the Great.

  Rev 18:3 "For because of the wine of the anger of her fornication all the nations have fallen victim, and the kings of the earth committed fornication with her, and the traveling merchants of the earth became rich due to her shameless luxury."

  A contemporary way of saying "shameless luxury" is "conspicuous consumption". The USA has facilitated immense evil by making deals with ruling elites to keep the raw materials flowing and the sweat shops working.

  Revelation 17:18 "the woman whom you saw means the great city that has a kingdom over the kings of the earth" can you say -----
  H-E-G-E-M-O-N-Y?

  Revelation 18:7 "In her heart she keeps saying "I sit a queen, and I am no widow, and I shall never see mourning. That is why in one day her plagues will come, death and mourning and famine and she will be completely burned with fire."

  Rev 17: And every ship captain and every man that voyages anywhere and sailors and all those who make a living by the sea, stood at a distance and cried out as the looked at the smoke from the burning of her and said, "What city is like the great city? Too bad, too bad the great city, in which all those having boats at sea became rich by reason of her costliness because in one hour she has been devastated."

  This is not a description of some religious entity. It is clearly an extremely rich political entity.

  In the very near future will will understand this.

  You obviously are getting the wrong type of therapy.

  Your dad was an authoritarian asshole but that does not follow automatically from being a JW.

  My dad gave me three spankings in my whole life.

  1. Painting his car with tar - age 3

  2. Kicking a hole in the wall during a temper tantrum - age 7

  3. Kicking a hole in the wall during a temper tantrum - age 11

  I still would like to kick a hole in the wall - but since I would have to fix it. I don't.

  I went to school in the 1950's and teachers were still allowed to paddle students. I got a lot of public asswhippings in school.
  One for picking my nose.

  Never needed therapy for it though.

  today is my birthday, born in 1936. that makes me 66. i can hardly beleive it.

  i'm still in good health but know it's just a short run until something does me in.

  i'm really thankful for the great life i've enjoyed, no real problems that i consider serious.
