The Challange of Faith

i stumbled on this site dong some research, i post now only for those you have not sinned against jehovah's holy spirit, since only jehovah knows this, some value might be taken form this.

i currently serve as the service overseer in my congregation, i have been an elder for over 10 years.. the fundmental issue that challanges every jw faith at some point are the imperfections of the wtbs, & those that take the lead sometimes make huge errors.

as a third generation jw with a huge network of elders, i have heard many bad things about those that take the lead.. some of these have effected myself and my family, this is the test, no different than what job faced, but it is more on the emotional and mental level.

You are making another assumption. I agree totally with Leolaia that that main issue here is "Is the WTBTS Gods EXCLUSIVE org and Channel"?

Many, probably the majority here, would say no.

However a different question I believe would be much more interesting and revealing.

It is this: Does God use the WTBTS along with other Christian groups to communicate his word and accomplish his will, WITHOUT granting exclusivity to ANY group and DESPITE acknowledging the failings and imperfections of all his people worldwide?

You recognise the errors and imperfections within the WT but feel that God will extend his grace to cover for them (which I think he will and does) but you cannot accept that God does EXACTLY THE SAME for all other Christians and the groups they associate with.

See you on the other side brother. (Wherever that may be. Personally I think up)

Are Christendoms Sheperds any Better than Witness Sheperds?

i've been out since about 1995.......and never had an elder call on me.

not that i desire this....but.. suppose you were an elder in a church of christendom and you were removed because you smoked and they felt you weren't exemplary.

after that, you never went to that church again.

It's also quite helpful to realise that most Church shepherds, pastors, ministers or whatever don't equate Church attendance with being a Christian. Or conversely, a lack of church attendance with being spiritually weak.

Which is why their agenda when making a "shepherding call" or visit is not the same as the JWs. And there will almost certainly not be any fact finding going on with a view to disciplinary action or a need to quarrantine the flock from a potentially contaminating influence.

What kind of things did you do when going door to door to add time?

i was intrigued by an earlier post.

the point was made that the jws are going door-to-door to meet a quota and are not really concerned about the people they are witnessing to, but only in saving their own butts.

has anyone ever had a non-jw friend and asked them if they could talk about jehovah for a while to them, in order to fill the time they need?

Have you SEEN the way JWs "walk" from house to house. This is supposed to be the most important work there is and yet they crawl around in groups WASTING time. A door to door salesman on commission makes them look stupid. He maximises his time, moves on immediately when he realises there's no-one home, walks briskly between houses and quickly and efficiently takes his "not home details" JWs knock, wait 5 mins, knock again, walk to end of path, record NH, double check the detail, stroll to next house, repeat.

lets say an elder that knows his bible very well, and a priest or any high ranking person of any other christian religion who also knows his bible very well, would get together and each with a bible in their hand.....who would come out victorious?.

The problem is not, who knows their bible better, it's "who understands the others reasoning" better.

Witnesses are very GOOD at "disproving" things which others believe, whilst in reality they are disproving a "Straw Man" arguement.

Christians are very BAD at realising that is what the Witness has just done.

In effect both parties are arguing over different issues but don't realise it. As to who wins. . . neither or both!!

help! family mbr reading my 3 yr old My Book of Bible Stories

my soon to be three year old son asked me yesterday if i was dying.

i was shocked that he knew the word 'dying' and asked where he heard it.

he proceeded to tell me that his aunt (a jw) read him a story about jesus twiste (christ) and jesus was dying.

Go down to your nearest Christian or religious bookshop and find a really nice bible story book.

I run a christian bookshop here in the UK and the WTS "Bible Story" book is hideous, dated and frankly embarressing. I swear that if I put a copy on our shelves it would never sell because it is awful.

it's true, i have sinned against the english language.. then he tells me, you say "badado" .
