But aren't the implications for the WT way bigger than McGregor ministries or am I missing something - apart from possibly the fact that they've got $millions to "prove" they are a charity as opposed to Lori McGregor who's probably skint . . .

My son's answer to that was, he'd be glad to pay $10 per gallon if he didn't have to pay property tax. He's paying almost $600 per month just for the privilege of living in his house--on top of a house payment. Do you have property tax in the UK?

Just explain "property tax" a bit more. What's it for? We may have an equivalent here called Council Tax
Out of interest, what's the value of the property and how much is the "house payment"?
I find comparitive living costs quite fascinating - how some countries "value" certain "commodities" differently to others.

How many people in other so-called Christian religions can even find scriptures in the bible? So if they can't do that and are just taking the word of their priest or minister as fact, then that is the definition of brainwashing. JWs are encouraged to research things that are not immediately understood.
I would run away quickly if I were you.
Or you could start doing the research you say you're encouraged to do.

Even selling their belongings and moving somewhere would be too much for most of them, and the older members would vividly remember pre-1975 if that was to happen.
I wish they would say something this stupid . . .
Esp if they suggested giving the money to the society.

I just posted my opinions on this in another thread!
I think that they COUNT on their members not REALISING that they hold contradictory interpretations.
I think that within the next 10 years WT will have "New Light" that the 144000 is actually a "symbolic" number
Problem solved . . .
Eventually they'll gravitate towards mainstream Christian doctrine.
JW teaching in 30 years time:
Christ will return and restore earth to paradise.
Human life will always continue and originate from earth.
Eternal life was not meant to be earthly
Little flock was Jewish believers
Other sheep are gentile believers
At death the hope is heavenly.
144000 (long forgotten) is not literal.
Mainstream Christian belief in thirty years:See Above
Somehow they'll still teach they are God's Exclusive Channel
