the athiest poses the question about the reliability of the bible.
the witness explains that the bible is completely trustworthy because of it's historical accuracy, meticulous transmission, etc.. the athiest says that's interesting and thanks him for the information.. the witness then turns to the christian and begins the same conversation he had with the athiest.
Yeah, that's probably a better thing to say since the Masoretic Text is in Hebrew for the OT. The NWT says 'hey, we'll put in Jehovah whereever the author quoted the Hebrew scriptures and the Hebrew originally had the Tetragrammaton', and Paul apparently quoted a lot from the original Hebrew texts.

I may be completely off base here, but I thought there was documented evidence of at least 134 changes made by the Sopherim. This is noted in the NWT Reference Bible, as well as other non-JW sites on the internet.

The evidence apparently comes from the first page of the Massorah.
I don't personally know a whole lot about this, except that this explains 134 places in the NT.

@Change Name, it is proper to abhor wickedness. However, the Society equates people who disagree with THEM as being people who oppose JEHOVAH. To the Society, the two are mutually inclusive... one cannot be without the other. This may be true in some cases, but from what I've seen, the vast majority here do not oppose Jehovah or Jesus. Many here simply oppose the way they are treated when they disagree with certain teachings of men based on their own Bible research, and slapping a term like "apostate" on any who disagree with men's teachings that have changed, flip-flopped, been reversed, etc. is really an affront to these individuals.

It's an interesting question/parable Jesus posed. I've been toying with the correlation between Pharaoh/Joseph and Jehovah/Jesus. Genesis 41:33-49 is where the account is. Pharaoh put Joseph in charge, literally, of the food supplies. In addition, Pharaoh made Joseph second in all his kingdom and gave him full authority over everything but the throne. It's a very similar relationship between Jehovah and Jesus.
So, could Jesus have been referring to himself? I think it's possible. He often talked about himself in the third person (e.g. "the Son of man" is used quite a bit). He also mentions "that evil slave". Perhaps here he was simply saying what the alternative would be if he did not carry out his duties faithfully. It's just a thought I've been entertaining. Probably not right, but it's interesting to ponder.

"Worldly people" are people who are not Christians.
Actually, "worldly people" are people who are not Jehovah's Witnesses.
And, there is a marked difference with the term "Christians". Blondie said that there phrase "worldly people" has not been used as much in recent years. That's true. Instead, sentences that apply to JWs generally use the phrase "true Christians".
my philosophy when i was a teenager :"those who admit to it are stupid ,those who deny it are liars" that was my response to peers who posed such a subject when i was a teen .now, being a mature aged person i think this subject could do with a bit more enlightened content.. i am a male so i can`t speak for the females ,who, i hope will give their input on this topic for discussion.and i mean it as a serious discussion.. males experience erections from the time they are babies and the natural thing to do is to hold it , and before you know it fondling it gives you releif.. society doesnt help by making you feel guilty and like shit as a dirty person.why in the world do babes ,young children ,young boys get erections before they even know what it`s function is for.

An caveat is found on page 178 of Daniel's Prophecy: "Counting 2,300 days (6 years, 4 months, and 20 days on the Hebrew calendar) from June 1 or 15, 1938, brings us to October 8 or 22, 1944."
The thing about the internet now is that there are Hebrew calendar converters out there. Here's what I ended up with:
Hebrew calculation: 2 Sivan 5698 - 22 Tishri 5704, which is 6/1/1938 - 10/23/1943
Hebrew calculation: 16 Sivan 5698 - 8 Cheshvan 5704, which is 6/15/1938 - 11/6/1943
I am by no means an expert with the Hebrew calendar, so someone should double-check me. What's baffling me is that 1938 + 6 = 1944, so it would make sense to say that sometime in 1944 was it, but 5698 + 6 = 5704 on the Hebrew calendar, which is only 5 years on the Gregorian calendar.
