I love the sound of rain. I work nights and sleep days. When it rains, I can sleep for hours without waking once. I have to be sure to set the alarm or else I will sleep too long. The sound of rain is so soothing.

i woke up and nearly put my foot on a 2ft long snake that somehow got up to the 2nd floor.
i screamed and ran out of the room and started crying.
i hate snakes and am terrified of them.
Well, I won't be getting any sleep tonight. I also live in the country and have seen snakes outdoors. I am terribly afarid of snakes aslo. I'm sorry about your experience and hope there are no more snakes in your house. I would have
called animal control myself; let them handle the problem.

i was born, raised and grew old(er) in california -'45 to '94, and oregon since.
lived many years in santa barbara, ca.
where the change in seasons is noted by how foggy and damp it gets in the summer.
WTW, I also decorate for Holloween. I love lights. I guess I combine Holloween with Fall and it's Harvest. I decorate my yard and deck with lights, pumpkins, mums, scarecrows and anything I find that's appropriate for the season.
I find celebrating all the seasons and hoildays much more fun and interesting than going to the DC/CA, weekly meeting and field service; bothering people who happen to be home.

hello friends, thanks for admitting me in the group, do not know much english, makes an effort to write correctly, thanks.
the gb, jehovah's witnesses was appointed by a downright alcoholic, not by the holy spirit, oh yes, the spirit of good canadian liquor.

What was the rational for appointing the GB? Why the change from a President overseeing the organization?

i work at a major airline in the in-flight training department.
i was sitting at the desk on the computer, i kid you not... writing the security (hijacking) curriculum for 2002, when someone came in and told me a plane flew into the wtc.
we all thought it was one of our planes.
cult classic, If you were out in fs all day, when did you find out that America was under attack? After you got home from fs? Did the householders not tell you what was happening in NY or Washington DC? What were the other
active jws doing? I was already an xjwfor over 25 yrs by that time.

It was my day off of work. When I turned the tv on, I could not believe what was happening. When the second plane hit the second tower, I realized, as did everyone else, that America was under attack; something I never believed would happen. America attacked on it's own soil! I recalled what had happened in Oklahoma City. I felt so vulnerable. When the towers imploded, it was an unbelievable sight! I was scared for all those running away. It was like a horror movie, only it was real. AMERICA HAD BEEN ATTACKED. I was scared and angry. I never thought of Armageddon or the Tribulation. I mourned for America and those who were enduring the attack. Around 12 noon, I went to the bank to depostit a check, the teller would not take it, they were closing down the bank. I went to Walmart, the usually crowed store was nearly empty of people. Those people who were on the streets, honked their horns as everyone returned to their homes or places of work to keep up with what was occuring. It was a terrible and sad day for all Americans everywhere.
My daughter had gone to a buyers show and could not get back home on a plane. She and other buyers were taken back home by others by automobile. She was in Minnesota and she lives in Idaho.
SophieG, I'm sorry for what you suffered during that stressful time. I agree, we we all affected and changed by that dreadful day and its aftermath.

Happy Birthday Glander. I also love September and Fall is my favorite season. The days are just beautiful. I grew up in the Texas Panhandle where there is a distinct difference in the seasons. When I moved to the SE Georgia coast, I wondered if I there would be a difference in the seasons; there is. You can smell Fall in the air as well as see the changes in nature. I wonder if our own bodies experience some kind of difference when the seasons change? One of the things I have noticed is that the Spring/Summer daylight hours are not as long here as they are in TX. I see Fall as the beginning of the year. Most everyone has returned to the routine things in life; back to school and end of most vacations, kind of like, God's in his Heaven and all's right with the world. We have Thanksgiving before us and Christmas is "just around the corner." Lots of good things to look forward to. I even buy school supplies, even though I am not going to school. It just seems appropriate to do so. Don't you just love being alive! I wish you many more Septembers of life.
i was thinking about this question recently after being at the meeting when new pioneers were announced for the 2013 service year.. we have a dozen or so pioneers in the congregation, and most are in their 20's.
some absolutely love the things they are taught and can't wait to spread the good news.. others in the congregation are going through the motions, tired of hearing the same old same old but have no way to change things now.
then there are a couple like me.
I started waking up in my early thirties but it took me until my late thirties to stop attending meeting and fs. Getting out into the work force and actually being around "worldly" people helped me see the world in a different light;
I guess you could say I had "new light" or like Hank Williams, "I saw the light!"
i happened to be reading this part of acts yesterday, ananias and sappira getting zapped for lying about keeping a portion of their profits.
it occurred to me, that is, like, oh my gawd, soooo old testament!
is there any other place in the new testament where a person was immediately executed by god for their error?
I found this on Gateway.com, Just googled ananias and sapphia. Seems the consensus is that God zapped them. I also understood the text to mean that God killed them.
"As Ananias listens to this expose (NIV's when Ananias heard this does not do justice to the simultaneous action indicated by the present participle), suddenly he falls down and dies (exepsyxen, used primarily in accounts of death as a result of divine judgment--Acts 5:10; 12:23; Judg 4:21). God, the knower of all hearts, has assessed Ananias's unrepentant heart and immediately judged him for his sin (contrast Acts 15:8).
Such a punishment, "death at the hands of heaven," was a recognized penalty in Old Testament and Jewish law....
Such discipline certainly has its deterrent value. The hasty, unceremonious burial of Ananias shows the believers recognize that God's judgment has fallen on one who by his embezzlement had violated the transparent unity of the Spirit-filled assembly (see Lev 10:6; Semahot 2:8). The young men (young in age, not office) cover his eyes and wrap his body in a shroud (synesteilan; the word systellontos, referring to a functionary related to burials, has been discovered on an inscription in a synagogue in Beth Shearim--see Safrai 1976:776). Without the traditional rituals of mourning, Ananias is taken outside the city and buried.Beautiful Conspirator (5:7-11)"
