  Funerals

  i haven't been to a "worldly" funeral...well ever that i can remember.

  all the funerals i have been to have been jw ones where they use it as another opportunity to preach to everyone in sight.

  they usually make a token mention of the dead loved one and then begin with the resurrection and earthly paradise and how you have to be a jw to get there.. today i went to my aunts funeral.

  Cross or Torture Stake?

  hi folks!.

  do we have any non-biblical evidence that would show how criminals were executed during jesus' day?

  i beleive the cross was used for our saviour.

  The instrument that Jesus died on, be it a one beam or two beam piece of wood, was used to put him to death as a criminal. The two evildoers that were killed alongside him were also given the death penalty. Remember Jesus was accused of sedition against the government, even though it was not true. As far as the Romans were concerned they thought that they were killing a criminal. They were using the instrument of death.
  We are told by Jesus to keep his death as a memorial to him, not the instrument that he died on. So it really doesn't matter if the instrument was one or two beamed.

  anybody see the new JW-commercial?

  on whtv upn 18 (channel 5) they aired the commercial put out by the congregation of jehovah's witnesses (12:38 am on monday night).

  it is only airing in the north east us.. a brother who saw the commercial last friday said it was really nicely done.

  it talks about family life and plays the kingdom songs in the background.. a telephone call to the society confirmed it was a trial, and it was a bonafide jw advertisement.. .

  Jehovahs Witnesses first response before becoming such is based on, "living in a world of peace and security, amoung a true brotherhood". They agree to become worshippers of Jehovah based on that premise. They fully beleive that they are in a spiritual paradise. They are repelled by ones in the organization that does not reflect those loving qualities. Even though they are gradually trained to obey men, they are still repelled by wickedness.
  You are absolutely wrong in your veiw that they would kill if they were told to.

  How the WTS Grows RICH!!!

  how the wts grows rich!!!

  principle loan: $200,000 to congregation buy land and build hall.. interest rate: 3%.

  loan term: 30 years.. the total paid back over 30 year: $303,555.

  1) Local congregations donate money into this fund.
  2) The WT loans this money and charges interest.
  3) The building is built with free volunteer labour.
  4) The local congregation pays back the loan and interest
  5) The local congregation sells their old hall and forwards the proceeds to the WT
  6) The WT owns the property, and receives interest on the funds which these same people had a part in contributing.

  Each point is correct except #5. If the local hall sold its old building then they would use the proceeds to pay off the existing loan and utilize the rest if there were any to deposit in their own account for further needs.

  my life with the jws has been one hardship after another.

  i am sharing this to help others see that jws claim to be loving and forgiving people while they are not.

  when you first posted your story I tryed to read it but stopped because it sounded exaggerated. I can follow some of your story but not all. It seems that you have increased or enlarged your story to an abnormal degree. God forgive me if I am wrong.
  Whatever part that has not been exaggerated (if any part has), I am sorry for your pain.

  Will the Beast turn on WTS?

  many of you have said that the wts is babylon the great and feel that the prophecy in revelation will be fulfilled on the wts.

  the book of revelation says that this babylon the great will go down into destruction because the wild beast will turn on her.

  it also said that god will put that thought into the wild beast to carry out this action.. that is why in one day her plagues will come, death and mourning and famine, and she will be completely burned with fire, because jehovah god, who judged her, is strong.. if the wts is the babylon the great of the book of revelation then this will be its demise.

  How the JWs helped me

  all of us have had negative experiences as a result of leaving the witnesses, some much worse than others.

  many here, have expressed a bitterness and an anger over loosing so many "wasted" years.

  while these are natural feelings, i think there are several positives we can dwell on as well.

  I appreciate your comments on this matter Larc. I to feel similar about the education provided throught the WTS. It has helped me also in all aspects of my life.
  The negative experiences that I equally received has also helped me.
  I wanted to run away from the negativities but decided to stick it out, because I would lose what matters to me most, "my family". So I take advantage of the positive aspects, and grow that much stronger through the negative ones.
