Do You Still Believe a God Cares for You?
by JosephAlward ini've been a part of this forum for about one month, and during that time i've been struck by the willingness of many so former jehovah witnesses either to ridicule the bible, or to stand by while it's being ridiculed.
so, i'm wondering how many of them while witnesses suffered through experiences so searing that they no longer believe in the god of the old testament.. who among you still believe that underneath the layers of contradictions, inconsistencies, and errors in the bible there may be found the words of a god who created the universe, and who also cares about you, personally?.

Russell's Will
by radar inhaving at various times during past years donated to the watch tower bible and tract society all of my personal possessions except a small personal bank account of approximately two hundred dollars, in the exchange national bank of pittsburgh, which will properly be paid over to my wife if she survives me, i have merely love and christian good wishes to leave to all of the dear members of the bible house familyand all other dear colaborers in the harvest workyea, for all of the household of faith in every place who call upon the name of the lord jesus as their redeemer.
however, in view of the fact that in donating the journal zions watch tower, the old theology quarterly and the copyrights of the millennial dawn scripture studies books and various other booklets, hymn-books, etc., to the watch tower bible and tract society, i did so with the explicit understanding that i should have full control of all the interests of these publications during my life time, and that after my decease they should be conducted according to my wishes.
i now herewith set forth the said wishesmy will respecting the sameas follows: .

I feel similar about Brothers Russell wishes being direspected. It was his money that started the whole thing. When the rulers were jailed during world war I the WTS shut down. The rest did not have the money or the smarts to keep it going.
It is a shame that Russell did not leave his inheritance to the rightful heirs, his blood family. This is the thinking that Russell had*** w85 12/1 20-2 Do You Honor Jehovah With Your Valuable Things? ***
Do You Honor Jehovah With Your Valuable Things?
Willingness and Appreciation Needed
“Just How Is Your Work Financed?”
Many ask this question. They are surprised when Witnesses calling at their door do not solicit funds. Others are likewise amazed when, attending a Witness assembly or visiting a Kingdom Hall for the first time, they find that no collection is ever taken. How, then, is the witness work financed? The answer: through voluntary contributions from those who want to honor Jehovah with their valuable things. Following are some ways this is accomplished.
Gifts: Donations of money may be sent directly to the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, New York 11201, or in other countries to the Society’s branch office located there. A brief letter stating that such is a donation should accompany these contributions. Property can also be donated.
Conditional Donation Arrangement: Money, stocks, bonds, and property can be given to the Society with the provision that, in cases of personal need, returns may be made to the donor. This method avoids the expense and uncertainties of probate of will, while ensuring that the Society receives the property in event of death.
Insurance: The Watch Tower Society may be named as the beneficiary of an insurance policy and should be thus informed. Likewise, bank savings accounts can also be placed in trust for the Society.
Wills: Property or money may be bequeathed to the Watch Tower Society by means of a legally executed will. A copy should be sent to the Society.
Further information or advice can be obtained by writing to the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, Office of the Secretary and Treasurer, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, New York 11201 or to any local branch office.Pureheart

Hey yall,
*** w81 9/15 31 If a Relative Is Disfellowshiped . . . ***
Should he die while disfellowshiped, arrangements for his funeral may be a problem. His Christian relatives may like to have had a talk at the Kingdom Hall, if that is the local custom. But that would not be fitting for a person expelled from the congregation. If he had been giving evidence of repentance and wanting God’s forgiveness, such as by ceasing to practice sin and by attending Christian meetings, some brother’s conscience might allow him to give a Bible talk at the funeral home or grave site. Such Biblical comments about the condition of the dead provide a witness to unbelievers or comfort to the relatives. However, if the disfellowshiped person had still been advocating false teachings or ungodly conduct, even such a talk would not be appropriate.—2 John 9-11.How does the above statements coincide with the statement below?
(Romans 6:7) For he who has died has been acquitted from [his] sin.

Hi HS,
Evidence seems to be growing that questions the validity of a post Jerusalem date for the writing of the Revelation. Write me if you wish to know more about this.

JWs Best/Ugliest Traits?
by Room 215 inmy votes:.
the best: as a group they're relatively color-blind (low to no incidence of racism among them ).. the worst: their stubborn refusal to see the good in anyone but themselves!.
what say you?

Hey Yall,
I think that you all are forgetting about the punishment.
If anyone shows a sign of prejudice it would mean that he hated his brother and also mean that he would infect others. A person like that could not hold a position in the congregation. He would definetly be removed from the congregation if he did not change.
That is why he have to keep it inside and in the dark. He becomes so good at his performance of loving his brother of another race, even inviting them out socially from time to time, working in the same car group and going to certain houses that will not cause an upset with the householder and making sure that he identifies a sister of another race as definetly not my wife or fiance' but as a fellow member in christ. He makes sure to teach his children to only marry a brother or sister of another race in the New world because it would pose so many problems now.
He loves all of his brothers. Yeh, right! -

Questions From Readers
Could it be said that the recently updated understanding of the word “generation” at Matthew 24:34 allows for the idea that the end of the system of things could be delayed into the distant future?
That is certainly not the case. On the contrary, the recent improved understanding of this matter should help us to keep in constant expectation of the end. How so?
Well, as The Watchtower of November 1, 1995, explained, Jesus applied the phrase “this generation” to contemporary wicked people. (Matthew 11:7, 16-19; 12:39, 45; 17:14-17; Acts 2:5, 6, 14, 40) It was not, as such, a description of a fixed length of time beginning with a specific date.
In fact, “Questions From Readers” in that same issue of The Watchtower focused on two key points: “A generation of people cannot be viewed as a period having a fixed number of years” and, “The people of a generation live for a relatively brief period.”
We often use “generation” in this way. For example, we might say, ‘The soldiers of Napoléon’s generation knew nothing about airplanes and atom bombs.’ Would we be referring just to soldiers who were born in the very same year as Napoléon was? Would we be referring merely to those French soldiers who died before Napoléon did? Of course not; nor would we by such a use of “generation” be trying to fix a set number of years. We would, though, be referring to a relatively short period, not hundreds of years from Napoléon’s time into the future.
It is similar with our understanding of what Jesus said in his prophecy given on the Mount of Olives. The fulfillment of the different features of that prophecy proves that the end of this system is close. (Matthew 24:32, 33) Remember that according to Revelation 12:9, 10, with the establishment of God’s heavenly Kingdom in 1914, Satan was cast down to the vicinity of the earth. Revelation adds that Satan now has great anger. Why? Because he knows “he has a short period of time.”—Revelation 12:12.
It was thus appropriate that The Watchtower of November 1 carried the subheading “Keep on the Watch!” The following paragraph aptly said: “We do not need to know the exact timing of events. Rather, our focus must be on being watchful, cultivating strong faith, and keeping busy in Jehovah’s service—not on calculating a date.” Then it quoted Jesus’ words: “Keep looking, keep awake, for you do not know when the appointed time is. But what I say to you I say to all, Keep on the watch.”—Mark 13:33, 37.(Revelation 1:1-10) A revelation by Jesus Christ, which God gave him, to show his slaves the things that must shortly take place. And he sent forth his angel and presented [it] in signs through him to his slave John, 2 who bore witness to the word God gave and to the witness Jesus Christ gave, even to all the things he saw. 3 Happy is he who reads aloud and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and who observe the things written in it; for the appointed time is near
