I had cats and gerbils too. One day my friend was staying over and she screamed OMG V you have a rat in the bedroom! It was one of my gerbils. Out for a while too... was leading my cats on a merry chase under the bed and into crevices they couldn't fit into... they were freaking out but they were NOT attacking it, they were just having fun chasing it around. I laughed so hard after my initial panic (I too thought I'd rescue a bloody mangled body).

The cats had learned a healthy respect for the gerbils as when their noses got too close to the bars they got nipped!

Thanks for your candid and honest answer. I can certainly understand your feelings, although I can't really agree with them. It must be hard for you to see the "wrong" things that go on in the org. when you still believe it's Jehovah's org.

I guess i'm probably waiting on jehovah to clean up his org.

I personally don't think that God would allow such shenanigans in the first place if it really was His org. And I don't buy the excuse that "it's made up of imperfect men" when they claim to be God's mouthpiece. I don't believe He has an org. here on earth. He's never needed one before, He's God!!

Anyway, I do agree with you on the statement that He accepts more people than the JWs believe. Amen to that. In any event, I'm glad you are here!

You say: if they ask him if he views it as Jehovahs' org-he'll say yes. And i will too, b/c i'm not 100% sure it is not

What part of you still thinks it might be? I'm just curious. I wasn't sure for a long time too, but once I read COC and other things I changed my mind.

You also say, that if it were:

it will not change my feelings or cause me to start to attend meetings

If you really still feel it is Jehovah's organization, then why would you not change your feelings or attend meetings?

Honestly, I'm just really curious, many people feel as you do and I'm just trying to understand.

I was a junior in high school in 1975, having been raised a JW. I guess I sorta believed it would.

What did you give up waiting for the big A?

Going to college (on a full scholarship)

What were your opposing families like towards you

At midnight new years eve Dec 31 1975 my Catholic cousin called my mother and laughed his ass off saying "Well?????"

Did you hide food thinking you would need it later?

No

Last, what happened with your lives after the big A didn't happen?

I was relieved. I didn't want it to happen in the first place. I got really "worldly" after that.

Singing in the Kingdon Hall - laughing

oh my god, i went to a meeting a year ago, with my girl friend, in a town back east i live in utah, i sing in night clubs and bars and have a really great time.

i go to the hall and it comes time to sing, now i am used to really letting it all hang out when i sing, so i give it all i got, i seen all these's heads turn and look at me, they could tell right off the bat that i am not a good jw cause i have a beard like jesus wears, but i know the tunes because i was raised listioning to them, i loved it, they don't really sing i noticed, its sad, cause singing could be so much a part of worship, but its like you can't even do that cause if your a good singer you might stumble the others cause it may be competion, what a bunch of bs, the po, looked down his nose cause i was singing like i had life in me .

My story growing up as a JW ........

jw kids = "children of the corn".

growing up as a j-dub, i have seen all of the special treatment most jw kids and elders kids recieved in general.

while, no you were not allowed to celebrate holidays, etc, being a jw child meant you could do no wrong.

It's ironic.

When I was 9 we moved to a new neighborhood. Of course the first thing I did was scope out other kids in to play with. I met a girl my age up the street and we started playing.

Of course it wasn't long before SOMETHING came up I couldn't do (Halloween, whatever.) Next thing I knew, my new pal's mom had called me into the kitchen and started grilling me on my JW beliefs. She said she had to make sure that her daughter did not have "bad association." "We are Episcopalians and believe in Jesus," she said.

Funny, I became an Episcopalian in later life. I'll never forget that experience.

A "worldly" person making sure I wasn't "bad association" for her Christian daughter!
