Is worship deserved?

anyone know the jw explanation for this:.

so supposedly, god exists outside of space and time.

or, god wasn't created and didn't create itself, it just always was, or something.... ignoring any logical issues for a moment, if this is true, why does it deserve any worship for this?.

Maybe worship is another word for Love, and what Father doesnt want his children to Love him?

Parents certainly want obedience from thier children, for thier childrens safely and future happiness, a good read of the Bible reveals that obedience to God is a primary aspect of worship, and then Jesus revealed the most important aspect, to Love God.

So, in summery, worship means to Love our Father and do what he says, a bit like what occurs in the average happy and balanced family unit then really.

Thats my explaination by the way, cannot remember the official JW line, probably more along the lines of your last sentance.

Only by 18 minutes JWF, and only because Iam on night shift am I not at work.

Maybe we could start a poll, find out the validity of JW teaching being from God by asking how many remember being straight, until they started bashing the bishop and became gay as a result.

Another point to consider about the 12 tribes of Israel that the society says are symbolic as 11 of those tribes are no more, surely God himself knows the lineage of each and every person who ever lived.

Just because we dont know who or where the literal decendants of the promise to Abraham are, doesnt mean Jehovah doesnt know. And therefore the Great crowd could therefore be members of the "annointed" from amongst the Gentiles, an immeasurable amount.

Do they still have that teaching?

I did used to read a lot of the old literature in the abscence of luminary progression.

my ex (jw) told my two youngest 9 and 11, your dad.

wanted more kids, meaning them.

we had two older.. how would a child feel after their mother tell them, i really.

I can still remember it, one sunny day when I was five, holding mummies hand, walking up the path to this big old house in Balham, through the door, where she left me, no warning, to face life on my own, it was a Childrens home and she was getting rid of me.

JW parents arent the worst parents in the world, in fact when I made my own way into the "truth", I was actually quite jealous of the relationships the young ones had with thier JW parents.

Not to diminish the suffering mentioned in folks posts here, or the pain of shunning, but dont think child abuse is purely a JW doctrine.

Anxiety attacks and Door to Door Activity...what have you observed?

during door to door activity in the distant past i have had the experience of witnessing actual anxiety attacks of jw's who could not handle that required preaching on that day and on more than one occasion.. this is what i have seen on multiple occassions.. extreme headaches, upset stomach to the point of vomiting, visible trembling before even approaching the door, arguments with spouses and children, signs of elevated blood pressure, light sensitiity, a total character change, and basicly a complete shut down to the point of limited communication.

yes we all have butterflies in the stomach associated with certain activities but what i am talking about here bodily affliction to the point of physically affecting the individual in some cases for the rest of the day.. these symptoms are obviously present for some newbie to this type of activity but i have observed this from people who have been exposed to this type of work for years.

i think the body just cannot handle the stress anymore, and the marination in the hormones associated with it.

Thank you Paintedtoenail, I would suggest you where, or would have been, of great value doing another Christian work, if the oppurtunity for such where available to you, but as I said, the society concentrates so much on the preaching work, that other Christian works, especailly those apertaining to Christian Love, are neglected.

From day one, I loved the ministry, but I soon realised others didnt, in fact it was so hard getting others out I was given my own map, (despite not even being an auxilary Pioneer), and I would go out on my own.

Now I wonder if that scripture that talks about gifts in men, some being this, some that and some the other , cannot remember where it is from, wiether that is suggesting we have differant jobs to do in the Church of God, and that if you are doing the one you havnt been given the gift for, you are going to suffer?

And obviously, every Witness is forced to do that one Christian task that they may not be suitable for, at the expense of all those other Christian tasks that they might nave been very good at, but that gets neglected in this religion.

if jesus returned in 1914, i can understand he would be invisible to the rest of mankind so he can seperate the wheat from the chaff from thier genuine behaviour, but why is he also invisible to the congregation he is head of?.

he appeared to the original disciples before he went to heaven, now he has "returned", why hasnt he appeared to his faithfull and discreet slave?.

if he is directing his church on earth, shouldnt he at least appear to the president to give him some direction and to ensure "his" chosen congregation doesnt make any silly mistakes that would hamper the work?.

And as for the path of the righteous one being like light that gets brighter and brighter until the day is firmly established, what day could be more firmly established than the day Jesus comes, all this new light business surely leads up to the return of the Christ, not after.

What was the point of him returning at all if he hasnt even helped direct "his" organisation and is invisible to them as well?

Even to his annointed "brothers" he is invisible?
