I so look forward to Blondie's "between the lines" commentary every week! It helps me to sit through one of the five most boring hours of the week with my senses in order!
Thanks Blondie and keep up the GOOD work!

i was just reading a thread about the new 'exciting' format for the watchtower and how there will be a jw only edition.
add to this what i believe is the new rule that da'd and df'd people are not allowed to receive the magazines unless they attend meetings.
this all got me thinking.... .

a young man came in for his state vehicle inspection today and i noticed a nwt on the seat.
i asked him if he was a jw and replied yes.
he then asked if i was and replied i used to be but now am a full fledged apostate.
Hambeak- Sounds to me like this would be an excellent experience of "informal witnessing" to share at the next CA, Saturday after lunch during the 15 minute "Experiences" part. Good Job!!!
Q
yesterday we have a study of the watchtower about obedience and submission.
this study arose a lot of questions and heightened emotions in me and the interested retired judge sitting besides me.
we came accross the 9th pharagraph, page 28 of the april 1, 2007, where it says that: "it is easy to obey when everything is clear and we agree, but we will show that we are trully submissive if we yeild even when we do not personally understand the direction provided.
Da Cheech- That elder's comment unfortuneately speaks volumes of how brain washed so many are. VERY sad!!

Sitting through that lesson yesterday was the most uncomfortable experience I have ever had in a meeting! Just imagine what they will be spewing begining with the Jan '08 "members only" issue! One positive note, our conductor had a very hard time finding raised hands in the audience. Something tells me that I was not the only one who felt uncomortable with what was being studied.

as i learned from websites and books, i came to a shocking realization.. at first, i knew that there were serious problems with wts teachings, but .
i assumed that it wasn't all that bad.
i quickly learned that the teachings .
The say there is not clergy/layety distinction in the org. However, when it comes to hiding their paedophile paradise from the public, they claim penitential privilege. What hypocrites!!

Religious fanatics do not inspire good feelings or thoughts. His vitriolic comments regarding gay people, women involved in the feminist movement, and just about everybody who did not share his particular religious viewpoints put him in the company of the religious fanatics in the muslim world. I don't have feelings of sadness in his passing.

the article by silentlambs is somewhat misleading.
yes, the suits were settled with gag orders.
it is customary to do so in almost any settlement case.

reading through a thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/133948/1.ashx apoint being discussed was whether the wt has told people to hate others.
i thought these quotes may be of value.. wt 1961 15th july page 420 .
when a person persists in a way of badness after knowing what is right, when the bad becomes so ingrained that it is an inseparable part of his make-up, then in order to hate what is bad a christian must hate the person with whom the badness is inseparably linked.
mcsemike said: one might fear for their welfare. Jesus warned about judging others. And if THEY are wrong and the hate they wish on the world returns to them from God, where will they be then? Very sad.
How true! Your reference to Matt 7:1-5 is so applicable. The whole Sermon on the Mount in its approximately 600 words, gives anyone the guidelines necessary to be a constructive, well balanced member of society. How sad the teachings of the GB, fall so short of having any basis on the principles of one of, if not, the most important speech ever given!
How can they justify all this hate when Jesus said we should even LOVE our enemies? "but I say unto you, Love your enemies, and pray for them that persecute you; that ye may be sons of your Father who is in the heaven..." Matt 5:44,45 In the light of these words, are the GB sons of our Heavenly Father? NO WAY!!
