I don't care how you slice it, a generation is about 20-30 yrs by today's standards. this overlapping generation simply does not make sense.

Overlapping Generations: A wacky kool-aid thread
by RayPublisher inanother wacky kool aid thread for your reading pleasure from the hardcore dubbs on jw talk dot net is here if you want to read it:.
they wax philosophical, they curse this horrible old world, they gently try to project how soon the big a will come, and then swoon when someone quotes a tidbit from a gb member that they overheard.
warning: those with weak stomachs do not read!.

What about your vow to Jehovah?
by a watcher indid you get baptized without being dedicated?.
why did you allow men to come between you and jehovah?.
why were you serving jehovah at all?
-
QueenWitch
Did you get baptized without being dedicated? No. At the time I thought I was dedicating my life to Jehovah as I understood God to be at the time.
Why did you allow men to come between you and Jehovah? I didn't. I was baptized at 17 yrs old in 1992. So the baptismal questions I answered were the ones with the "spirit-directed organization" clause in it. I declared my dedication, baptism, and subsequent disfellowshipping null and void for the following reasons:
-I was a minor and unable to enter into any legal contracts
-the baptismal questions were unscriptural
-I was emotionally coerced
Why were you serving Jehovah at all?Out of love, or for other reasons? I was a minor child with a baby living at home with my mother. It was her way or the highway. I have since rededicated my life to Goddess as I understand Her to be, no baptism necessary. I realized that I cannot prove or disprove the existence of God and that God has no gender. I prefer to address the Divine as Female.

Blondie's Comments You Will Not Hear at the 06-09-2013 WT Study (READ BIBLE)
by blondie incomments you will not hear at the 06-09-2013 wt study (april 15, 2013, pages 7-11)(read bible).
4. what does it mean to read the bible in an undertone?.
1:6) how, then, are we to understand jesus words about this generation?

The bible may have some good advice therein but it is also outdated. Why do you think that mainstream books have 2nd and 3rd editions? because the info is updated. Why should we live our lives based on a 2000 yr old book?

Something better than Xmas
by zound insaw the title of this recent watchtower and it reminded me of the standard response to b'days and xmas celebrations:.
"we don't limit giftgiving to a specific day, we give gifts all year round!".
did anyone growing up a jw get gifts all year round?.
-
QueenWitch
Pfft, we were too poor. We only got new clothes beginning of the school year. Made it even worse after the Xmas break. Even other poor kids got something new and we didn't.

ApostaCy or ApostaSy, which is the correct spelling ?
by Phizzy ini am a pedant, but the reason i care about spelling and grammar etc on jwn is that jw's will pick on any minor error and discount everything else you say, so if you are writing articles on blogs or wherever, you need to get it "right", in the sense that it cannot be criticised.. i know that "apostasy" can be written with a c and be acceptable to some, but as the origin is the greek word apostasia i prefer to spell it with an s to avoid criticism.. we should try to make our spelling and grammar acceptable to all if we wish to be taken seriously, i think we need to pay attention on here too to make sure our posts make sense, with some posts i just think, "wtf are you on about ?".
pedants rant over..

I'm nitpicking but technically UU isn't a Christian denomination anymore. It started out that way though before the merging of Universalist and Unitarian. I think some who didn't appreciate the liberalness still separate themselves.

by blondie injehovahs witnesses view gods name?.
gods people that he really would.
non-jews, became a people for [gods].

God, if S/He exists, has many names. To say one of those names is better or more important than the other is up to God Her/Himself and who can really know the mind of God/dess? Many of us have at least 3 names. Which one is more important?

The Tubal-cain Class
by Londo111 inwatchtower theology is intent on the idea of classes, taking characters from the bible and making a modern day application that is nothing if not a study in narcissism.
there is the elijah class, the elisha class, the jehus and the jehonadabs, they even made a class out of the very obscure nethinim.
i was emailing auntbee and she had the idea of possibly parodying the idea in one of her videos.

+1 for Brother Londo's "watchtower" excerpt!
The Jezebel class - Christian wives who endeavor to take the lead "behind the scenes." We must remind them of their Christian duty of submission.

UU was 100% at #1 followed by Liberal Quakers (#2), NeoPagan (#4), Mahayana Buddhism (#6) and dead last JW.
Interesting that I attend a UU church but I consider myself a Buddhist Pagan.

my evangelical christian co-worker is extremely "racist" towards Hispanics
by booker-t ini am getting so tired of my co-worker who is a "evangelical christian" constantly making racist slurs towards hispanic people.
i just don't get it and it is making me very uncomfortable because i wonder what he says about "black" people behind my back.
everyday he makes comments such as "mexicans" are dumb and stupid, "mexicans all can't speak good english", "mexicans have 50 million babies" and "mexicans are all on welfare".

Legally, he is creating an uncomfortable work enviroment for you. Try telling him directly that his racist remarks make you uncomfortable. If he doesn't stop, take it to your superior or follow your job's human resources guidelines for this sort of thing. Same issue if he was making sexual or sexist remarks.
