The funny thing is, I'll bet that the local congs are calling the "worldly resistance" a form of "persecution" because Satan wants to stop "True Worship".

Well, my wife flipped out.
by rassillon ini hope i don't go too long with this.... last night my wife and i were talking about her day in service.
we talked about several things of little consequence and then i made mention of a point out of the reasoning book to underscore the importance of our need to be well versed in the facts that support our beliefs.
said point is on 416 of the rs book.

Richie, I just want to add my two cents. You are a smart, strong young man. I envy you and your chuzpa. Make sure your mom knows it is WTS you are moving away from, not her.
Stick with your plan, keep your cool. You are in control, since you know exactly how they are operating and what their next move is. Play the chess board to your advantage.
We've never met, but take this for what it is worth: I am extremely proud of you.

they were waiting at a light to cross and a woman with her little girl (the two little girls were around the same age, maybe 6 years old) was walking past them.
the little jw girl turns around and whips out the mags.

This reminds me: aren't there Child Labour Laws in this country? Doesn't peddling magazines qualify as labour? Isn't forcing children to peddle magazines -- without pay, mind you -- exploitative?
Couldn't a Prima Facia case be made that this is not "religious witnessing" but simply peddling because (a) the 6 y.o. girl is incapable of formulating a cogent "witness" and (b) her actions are entirely consistent with simple magazine peddling?
Child labour department, are you listening?

Crazy Concept - We have to kick you out because you dared to leave!
by AK - Jeff inhow ludicrous is that witness idea?
wifey and i have been out for well over two years - and had 'faded' some months before that.
not a single 'shepherd' of the flock has given a flying shit.

Quotes
Well, it is not that crazy. In fact, there is scriptural support for this.
Remember the parable of the shepherd, who, upon losing his little lamb, left the entire flock behind, and went out and searched and searched for the missing little lamb.
Upon finding the missing little lamb, the lamb tried to stay away from the shepherd. The little lamb did not like the loving shepherd, so he tried to stay away from him. But the loving shepherd was agile, and had more experience, so he quickly caught the little lamb.
Upon catching the lamb, the loving, gentle shepherd proceeded to strangle the lamb to death, with this bare hands. "That ought to keep my flock clean" announced the shepherd, to no one in particular.
"Now, where did I leave the rest of the flock?" asked the shepherd.
"Oh, well, it doesn't matter. They can take care of themselves. I'm going back to the farm house, until such time as another lamb dares to think it can endanger the rest of the flock by escaping."

I agree, the tea towel on the head is a joke. I have even seen Kleenex on the head:
"But I have to! This is a sign of respect!!!!"
Now, you lurkers: Imagine if a lawyer (in UK or Canada, where they still wear robes) didn't have his robes, one day, and appeared before the judge wearing a green plastic garbage bag!!!!
"Yes, your honour, I'm wearing this garbage bag out of a sign of respect for the court."
That lawyer would likely be sent home; perhaps charged with Contempt.

Statistics you will not find in the annual report
by architect inwhy don't the wtbs tell us the number disfellowshiped/disassociated instead of saying "thousands"?.
why don't they tell us how much money was made in the annual report?.
don't they owe all this to the membership?

Sorry, I didn't mean to thread hi-jack. I just thougt that, on the subject of stuff WTS does NOT put into their annual report, people may want to know how they can fill in the blanks.

On the subject of Watchtower Real Estate Holdings
I don't know about NY state, or USA in general, but I do know this: here in Ontario (and, I think, the rest of Canuckistan) real estate transactions are in the public record and available freely to all who will do a bit of research.
This means that any curious individual can simply walk into the Land Registry Office for the region or municipality involved, and after jumping through a few hoops and standing in a few lines and viewing a few microfiches, you can see exactly who owns a particular property, how much it was bought for, and the value of the mortgage, if any, and who holds the mortgage (i.e. which bank, individual, or "Organization" has provided the mortgage money).. IIRC you can not see what the present value of the property is, but you can see what it was bought/sold for through it's history. (However, with Market Value Assessment municipal taxes, I wonder if now in Ontario the Market Value is also available from the Land Registry Records).
The hardest part is getting the "Roll Number" or "Pin Number" for the property in question. (The Land Registry Offices still work the way they did in the Middle Ages!) Usually, if you are the home owner, you would just get that number from your tax bill. But if you don't have a tax bill, you have to start with looking up the Roll Number by starting with the Street Address (hence the Microfiche first step).
My suggestion: go to the Land Registry Office in the afternoon, and NOT near the 1st, 15th, or 31st of the month. It will be pretty empty; you won't have to wait long, and the beurocrats will be more forgiving of a dumb "how to" question asked with a smile.
This works for Kingdom Halls, Assembly Halls, Bethel Factories, etc.
