  How can I help a friend with shunning?

  i have a jw friend who has just had a close family member df'd.

  she is really close to this person, and is basically his best friend, and all she had to lean on.

  she now has to shun him.

  MIND CONTROL 101 -- this is their best method, it may make a person want to come back to family more so than an organization.

  at 1 Cor 5:11 ask is this wicked person categorized as a sexually immoral person, greedy extoritoner or an idolater? Unrepentant.

  to intimidate people or pressure them to a teaching that is contrary to scripture is a form of spiritual blackmail.

  what LB said is right " Jesus spoke to all" and exposed the wrongness of the rigidity typifing a legalisic approach to service of God

  I'm Back...and living in Las Vegas!

  well, i have been living in las vegas for a week and a half now.

  the drive from houston to vegas was hard.

  it took me two days to get here, but thankfully my dad came with me and he was able to help me drive.

  Marilyn Zweifel, after surgery

  marilyn (from the why-1914 helpline) made it through her quadruple bypass surgery and is doing well.

  i just talked to her nurse.

  How to help a friend?

  well after over 100 posts this is my first thread.

  but i thought that this subject was important enough to start a topic and i hope some of you will be able to give me some good advice.. to set the scene: a very close friend of mine is a nurse training to be an anaesthetist.

  he recently had a jw call on him and he'd invited him in and they'd discussed the blood issue.

  so sorry to hear how you are being treated by your family.

  it is truly a power trip, because the scripture they use is once again taken out of context. it was to be a matter of personal conscience. by not talking to you their control is they won't find out the truth.

  being a christian: how you treat Christ's brothers is how you treat Christ.

  I scripture a ran across recently was found in the New International Version:

  Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, with regard to a Religious Festival, a new moon celebration or a Sabbath day.

  The New World Translation takes out the religious festival.

  How Much is Shunning Worth?

  my jw niece called me last night on the phone.

  she is having a pampered chef party (for those of you who don't know what these are, it's like a tupperware party except they cook a meal and sell the cooking stuff).

  it is going to be at my jw sister's house and all the dubs will be there....including my "best" friend who ratted me out to my sister regarding us celebrating christmas last year.. i am not invited....but my niece would like me to buy some stuff and to make up for shunning me she is offering to give me her hostess discount....woohoo huh?.

  gosh when it comes to money or making money, it's like they forget everything theyv'e learned. if theres something you really want out of the expensive stuff then get it. if not just say no thanks and that you've enjoyed talking to her. see she really can be like Jesus and talk to anybody.
