You put up your post at 1408 and now it is past 0030. What I do not doubt is that you can now add over 10 hours to your field service report. Boy I wish we had this internet thing back when I was a pioneer!

Are you doubting?
by YoYoMama injames 1:5-8.
"so, if any one of you is lacking in wisdom, let him keep on asking god, for he gives generously to all and without reproaching; and it will be given him.
but let him keep on asking in faith, not doubting at all, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven by the wind and blown about.

Wasted Life Story..The Uncaring Husband 1.2.02WT
by ISP inthis is the wasted life story from the feb 1 2002 wt.. i would have entitled it the uncaring husband........ this guy gets married in 1954. tragically his wife has to have an operation to remove a brain tumor in 1957. this leaves her in a fairly desperate state.. as a result, my wife was left partially paralysed , and her speech center was badly affected.
now a whole set of complicated challenges arose for both of us.
even the simplest task became a major obstacle for my dear wife.

I can't wait to hear about this experience being used to guilt all these poor old JWs in nursing homes about getting in their 15 minutes per month!
The story may be true or may be embellished but the one and only reason it was put in the magazine was to promote the "JW Nursing Home Plan to Increase Publisher Head Count."

How Long A JW ( Baptised )?
by hillary_step ini frequently read on this board that somebody has 'been a jw for over 25 years' and then learn that they are in fact 25 years and three days old.. i am very easily confused, in fact i actually got inside a car of similar color to my own recently and spent at least five minutes with a furrowed brow trying to force my car key into its ignition, fortunately, i realised my error before i was arrested.
so, just to humor me, can you all post how long you were/are baptised jw's?.
thank you -- hs.

Parents became dubs when I was two.
Got baptized when I was fifteen.
Walked away when I was 26 (neither df'd nor da'd). Elders wanted to disfellowship me and tried to get me to come to JC meeting (which I refused) however they had no witnesses against me. I believe they were hoping for self-incrimination which I declined to provide. After three years of this nonsense (off and on) they finally quit bugging me. Of course my leaving town helped too! -

1975????
by jayhawk1 ini am too young to know what actually happened before and during 1975, but you know said this to me, and i would like some more information.. quote.
are you completely ignorant of why many of jehovah's witnesses looked to the year 1975?
do you think it was just something someone made up?

The '75 fiasco was grounded on chronology based on the creative day periods of 7000 years starting with the last day which begun with Adam.....and the 6000 year would have been in '75.
The 7000 years per creative day was crucial to 1975 because 6000 years of human existence + 1000 years of millenium = 7000 years of the seventh creative day. However no proof has every been shown from the Bible that a creative day is 7000 years. Does the WT still teach the 7000 year creative day?

"The Day The Music Died"
by Farkel inin 1972 the great irish balladeer don mcclean introduced the song "american pie.
" it was and still is a classic.
the song is full of symbolism and even to this day almost thirty years after the song was first introduced, mcclean will not reveal the real meanings behind much of that symbolism.. in that song, he sings about "the day the music died.

To be sung while out in service:
February made me shiver,
With every Watchtower I'd deliver,
Good News on the doorstep,
I couldn't take one more step. -

I love the wines of Navarro, located in Philo, California in the beautiful Anderson Valley. They make some of the best Gewurtztraminer and Pinot Noir in California. I just bought a half case of the Gewurtz and enjoyed a bottle with the Christmas turkey. This wine is generally only available at the winery or by mail order. It is excellent.
There are some great Zinfandels made in the Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County, California. A really good inexpensive one is Gallo of Sonoma (that's right Gallo). You can get a bottle of this wine for about seven or eight bucks. -

Are witnesses getting lazy?
by david_10 inthank you for the warm welcome i received when i made my first post last week.
it is a beautiful christmas day here, more like early autumn than the beginning of winter.
so i was a little surprised when i drove by my old kingdom hall a little after 9:00 am and saw that there were no cars parked in the lot----no one had met for field service.

I pioneered for several years in San Diego. It wasn't that easy. Some days the temperature didn't even reach 70 degrees Fahrenheit. There were a few days it rained and some days we worked territory without a view of the Pacific Ocean. Also there was only one really good donut shop in our congregation's territory (Pacific Beach) and there weren't many chairs which caused a great deal of crowding at break time.

I pioneered from 1971 to 1976. Back then 100 hours a month was hard. Nowadays it must be easy. All you have to do is post a topic on this board and count time until the last response is logged. You don't have to leave the comfort of home and burn up your gas driving from one not at home return visit (formerly known as back call) to another. I bet that yoyomama guy is a special pioneer!

In my time as a JW I noticed that the WT Society liked to play up the idea that they were being persecuted. One got the idea that somehow the WT was being singled out for persecution. However when I left dubdom and later attended college and got to study history a little bit, I learned that the WWI period in the USA included a great deal of suppression of rights and freedoms which we in the USA normally take for granted (let's hope GWB doesn't give us a repeat performance today). The US Justice Dept under the leadership of Attorney General Palmer used the war to crack down on all sorts of folks, not just the Bible Students. It's been a few years but I recall a really good book which covered this subject was entitled "Make-Believe Presidents, Illusions of Power from McKinley to Carter", by Nicholas Von Hoffman.

Wasn't Jesus reign supposed to have begun in 1874?
The reign explained is plainly changed again!
