My work colleague once said that because JWs eat eggs, they are in fact stealing from the mother hen and so will not inherit the kingdom of God because thieves are not let in.

anyone got any stupid questions they were asked or things that happened as a witness?.
when i was at school, a kid asked me "if you don't celebrate birthdays, how do you know how old you are?".

two of this board's, and h2o's before it,long time and well known participants have fallen on desperately hard times.
if they could set up pay pal accounts and enough of us could contribute say $20 - $50 per month it would help them though their hardship.. these two people have helped many escape from the wts and i know for sure have given money and other material help to those in need, even when they could not afford it.. if you can help, send an email to: [email protected].
you need not include any particulars of who you are etc, just an indication that you could support this and how much you could send.

You read me wrong again.
Your letter I posted above, was one that I saved and kept for I believed your reasoning on that subject(h20) was spot on.
It was a mark of respect to you.
I do not kick people when they are down!
Anyway, like you said before, you are not thinking straight at the moment.

finally, after almost a month, i get a response from my mother about the un.
for those who didnt see her original letter and my response, just click on the sheet of paper icon in my profile and you can catch up on this.. i will place my comments in italics and names will be replaced in parentheses.. .
dear ranchette,.

I just picked up this post about your moms letter.
Oh well at least you tried.
My mom when she was alive had a "saying" and it was this: "Where there is no sense there is no feeling"
unfortunately your mom has neither.

If God wants us to be believers, he has only to do something which would be trivial for him: appear in the visible heavens all over the world at the same time and speak a few words regarding what he wants from us. It would make skeptics like me A.F., J.H., N.H. and K.S. confirmed believers in a heartbeat.
He did far more spectacular things in the past, did he not?
Why are all 6 billion of us left with only confusing books, falsified history of nations, a history of unbelieveable Godly-Gore(tm) lasting thousands of years, contradictory doctrines and absolutely no reason to think he gives a rat about us?
Why have billions of people suffered and died and continue to suffer and die because two morons ate a stupid piece of fruit six millenia ago?
What's this notion about God "being a God of reason, love and compassion?"

some posters to this board, who perhaps are bored posters, have been out of the wts for a long while, some for decades.
i think i understand why you still feel the need to meet here but just wished to hear from you personally.. how long have you been out?
why do you still feel the need to discuss and involve yourselves with jw issues?
HS
Billygoat raised this question earlier.
I know there are many posters to this board who have been posting on JW topics for many years.
Many have benefited from reading their posts, including myself.
Those years have obviously left an indellable mark on our consciousness.
I believe the psychological bond we had, when we were with the (Borg)
now seeks a home with those of us, who find themselves outside the Borg Org.
In other words, that cultlike interdependency is still with us.
Scarry aint it?

i have been drifting for about 1 1/2 years now and was hoping that in a year or two i would have distanced myself enough from the org.
that i can actually start living my life exactly the way i want to...aka celebrating the holidays by putting lights on the house, not having to tell my daughter not to say anything about going trick or treating, getting birthday presents or going to cheerleader camp.
but i read some posts in the disfellowhiping thread started by somebody where people have been inactive for 3 years and are still disfellowhiped!

Like I said, only each individual can decide on this subject.
You said........."The fact is yes, it does make things better"
I can only assume that your speaking from your own experience.
Many thought "it made things better" when they became JWs, didn't they?

One of the things that seems to keep people coming to this board even after having left the WTS decades ago is the problem with non-communicative families due to shunning

As a matter of interest, how long ago did you cut ties with the watchtower?

When I became a JW, I did so at the loss of familly friendship.
A gulf arose between us over things like christmas, birthdays etc add to that the enormous time you devote to that faith and it leaves little time for real family contact.
I like many others made this sacrifice because we thought it was God's will.
It came down to standing up for what you believe.
I see and understand why many on this board prefer to remain annonimous. It is because many like yourself do not want to be shunned or be the cause familly hardships.
Does your not rocking the boat, so to speak, make things better in the long run?
A rule of thumb regarding Discipline from the watchtower elders: weakness versus wickedness. If you have doubts about the bible or miss meetings, then generally you will be regarded as "weak". If you express doubts about the watchtower and attend meetings then you are likely to be considered "wicked".
If you want to remain in good standing with relatives then do not go anywhere near meetings and never speak ill about the watchtower. You might get the odd visit from the local elders, but if you keep in mind what I have said then you will prosper good health to you!!
Only you can decide or judge, but I suspect that you are having a crises of conscience here.
Radar
do you remember the times when you felt so good because you had done your bible study for the week.
that you not only had pleased god but you were obediant to the faithfull and discreet slave class.. that you thought that you belonged to a wonderfull organisation and you would do anything to show your loyalty, even if it meant death?.
well these poor women are under the very same cult mentality.
