I think this account highlights why its foolish to consider these acounts as factual.
The Israelites were great story tellers, often taking stories from other sources and adding a moral to them to teach a lesson.
Soddom and Gommorah is another one.

if someone doesn't believe their story then i don't believe they should cast doubt on the person or attack them as i doubt they have all the facts.. i am extremely dissappointed to think that someone could come to the forum for support and be shot down like this.

I agree with your post and we all need support.
We have all left a judgemental and uncaring organisation. Many are hurting. Surely we can all show some fellow feeling, even if it is at the risk of it being missplaced.

Seven principles of Samiritans
The primary aim of The Samaritans is to be available at any hour of the day or night to befriend those passing through personal crises and in imminent danger of taking their own lives.
The Samaritans also seek to alleviate human misery, loneliness, despair and depression by listening to and befriending those who feel that they have no one else to turn to who would understand and accept them.
A 'caller' (someone who contacts The Samaritans by telephone, textphone, e-mail, letter, or visiting a Branch) does not lose the freedom to make their own decisions, including the decision to take their own life, and is free to break contact at any time.
The fact that a person has asked the help of The Samaritans, together with everything they have said, is completely confidential within the organisation, unless permission is freely given by the caller for all or a part of such information to be communicated to someone outside the organisation. A Samaritan volunteer is not permitted to accept confidences if a condition is made that not even the Director of the Branch should be informed.
Samaritan volunteers in befriending callers will be guided and actively supported by experienced 'leaders' who will have the advice, when required, of professional consultants.
In appropriate cases a caller will also be invited to consider seeking professional help in such fields as medicine and social work, and material help from other agencies.
Samaritan volunteers are forbidden to impose their own convictions or to influence callers in regard to politics, philosophy or religion.
Seven Practices
Samaritan volunteers are carefully selected and prepared by the local Branch in which they are to serve.
The Samaritans are available at all hours to callers, and may be contacted (anonymously if desired) by telephone, textphone, e-mail, letter or visit to a Branch..
When a caller is believed to be in danger of suicidal action, the Samaritan is particularly encouraged to ask the caller's permission for contact to be maintained during the crisis.

Samaritans listen to those concerned about the welfare of another person, and, if satisfied that the third person is despairing, depressed or suicidal, may discreetly offer befriending.
Samaritans are normally known to callers only by a forename and contacts by callers are made only through the Branch centre.
Samaritan Branches are banded together in legally constituted Association whose Council of Management represents all the Branches and reserves to itself the appointment of the person in charge of each Branch.

Some would say Farkel was attention seeking by saying his goodbye's.
Frequent posters could be seen as attention seekers also.
This is understandable knowing the background we all have as JWs.
So why do you say : "I am very suspicious of someone threatening suicide on this site"?
Why should you be suspicious. Is this board, The Congregation of JWs!
Why not keep your suspicions to yourself.

You are correct to a degree.
A real suicidal,person will not want any inerference in what he is going to do.
Yet their are different levels, to which a person may reach before this happens. To those who you object to, who make a threat of it, yes could be attention seeking but also it can be a genuine cry for help.
When a person is swollowed up with despair, they don't think straight. It is so easy for others to pass judgement, but I reckon those that do, do so out of ignorance rather than wisdom.
I knew a young JWs girl who started to come home from school with broken arms broken this and broken that. It was a cry for help. She wanted people know shw was hurting, but did not know how to express this. Her father was very dictatorial, she ended up leaving home at a young age and falling for a scoundral that beat her up!
She was eventualy dissfellowshiped for living with someone who was not her husband. Such a loving organisation eh?
The reason I tell you this, is that so many of her so called Christian relatives, including her father abandoned her.
I do not know what happened to her, but I would not minimise a cry for help.This could so easily have turned into a suicide.
My first reaction to the post you refer to was the same as your own, but I would be cautious of speaking publicly about it unless I really knew the guy.
You could be right, but if you are wrong, then you could push the poor fellow over the edge again.
