It's not about theology - It's about character
by LennyinBluemont ini have come to understand that people who are jehovahs witnesses are for the most part, good and honest people.
just like people in other religions or for that matter, people who dont practice any religion.
and, like those other people, they also have their minority of people who are selfish, deceptive and not very nice.

When your friends are bad for you: JWs as a case study in the dangers of ingroup bias
by Apognophos inhow do you convince someone to get help when their friends all say they're fine?
from time to time i think about how certain illnesses must be very difficult to treat because the sufferer's actual perceptions are skewed.
for instance, how do you convince someone to seek treatment if they are under a paranoid delusion that they know too much and the establishment wants to put them on drugs to dull their minds?

You only need to hear the news to realize that we live in a corrupt, manipulated society where cults like the WT have a purpose beyond the obvious money-making, whether we will ever find out...or not.
At the end of the day, being surounded by zombies is probably one of the most dangerous situations you could find yourself in and any sane person knows that. That is why you tend to find sane people helping others getting out of the darkness ans psychos doing the exact opposite.

I don't remember the nicest day in the ministry right now, but I clearly remember the day when a brother that looked like Anthony Perkins in Psycho was introduced to me as if he was a great catch that I should be very grateful to work with, and another day shortly after that when an elderly sister winked at me when he was passing by.

Somebody replied this to her on her youtube account:
" Look, most persons who leave JWs simply move on in life, some with the viewpoint that the religion just wasn't for them, some with minor grumbling over this or that feature of the faith that prompted their decision, some with the viewpoint that they couldn't live up to it.
None of these are viewed as 'apostates.' To be sure, we don't think their decision is wise, but they're not "apostate." A fair number eventually return. You could liken those leaving to a man or woman leaving a relationship, like a failed marriage. Most just move on. But there's always a certain few psycho ex-mates that can't let go, who devote all their time and energy to harassing the person they once loved.
Sigh...apostate cry-babies and obsessive losers and fanatics, with their demented soap-box, commit the logical fallacy of "selective observation"...and see only what they want to see...to suit their neurotic agendas. And ignore other things, conveniently and dishonestly, if it doesn't fit their twisted pre-biases, or their demented paradigms..."
So, basically what this person is saying is that people that was scammed by this corporation should just move on with their lives, pretty much like somebody that ends a romantic relantionship.
If they don't, they are likened to (brace yourself) A STALKER, rather a psycho that can not let go of a former relationship.
And we thought THEY were the stalkers.

Can You Sue an Organisation ?
by cassuk11 inif it can be proved that someone has been brainwashed, conditioned mentally, pychologically, emotionally and spiritually can a person successfully sue an individual or organization.
after all it is a form of abuse.

The first amendement is used as an excuse to violate the human rights of millions of people, but only if you are a religion, which is kind of telling.
Pornography has nothing to do with free speech, it is an attack on all women's rights as it affects how they are viewed and how they are treated, and it wouldn't be tolerated if it was used to denigrate any other collective like blacks, jews, etc.
America is NOT a free country and it is exporting its (lack of) culture to the rest of the world by different means, one of them under the guise of free speech, which they do not practice with things that are politically incorrect like examining the link between capitalism and communism, and the similarities between the so called cold war and the war on terror as an excuse to continue controlling society.

JWs cheat the least??

I don't believe this statistic. What I saw is that on average there were more cases of cheating in a KH of 150 than in a workplace with 500 people.
It may have something to do with being constantly bombarded with: do NOT commit fornication. It is like being reminded day in day out: do NOT think of a pink elephant. They say the brain does not understand a negative so it might have the opposite effect working as reverse pshychology. Just a theory.

Try to do to somebody what this corporation has done to you and see what happens.
They have a very strong backing otherwise they wouldn't get away with half the scamming, lying, manipulating, stalking, bullying, harassing and interfering in people's private lives.
Not to mention using brain washing techniques, coercion to get confessions about things that are none of their business, discrimination towards women, slandering the good name of former members that see them for what they are, imposing others to isolate people just because the organization says so under the threat of being the one isolated from the group, promoting simple-mindness and punishing any demonstration of intelligence, breaking relationships with their policies of nose-sticking, etc, etc...

How Relevant Are Jehovah's Witnesses To You?
by minimus inin reality, they are pretty insignificant..
-
apostatethunder
They are the biggest american corporation with presence in most countries of the world.
To know exactly how relevant they are you would need to ask the US government.
So far they have remained silent.

The Josephus Problem
by HowTheBibleWasCreated insomeone made a comment today that josephus cannot be trusted as a historical source.
they are right or half right.
obviously josephus was a self-centered historian.

It seems Josephus was probably jewish damage control in response to the message of the Gospels.

Have you noticed the common practice is to knock indivual's self esteem?
by stuckinarut2 inin another thread, one of our members made a comment that caught my attention.. i have been trying to put my finger on a practice amongst the org and witnesses in general.... as soon as someone does something well, accomplishes something, or excels at something, the atmosphere effectiveley 'kicks them in the gut' to bring them down.. anything that makes a person grow or develop is blatently discouraged and therefore self esteem is squashed!.
the constant message telling a witness to be 'humble' is designed to suck any sense of growth or 'betterment' out of a person..... therefore this leaves the average witness to be a blubbering mess of insecurity and instability completely dependant on the organization...kind of like a 'battered-wife' scenario.... .

Another pernicious practice they have is stroking the ego of idiots.
If you are a sister you will have to deal with ugly, uninteresting guys with nothing to offer, that will treat you with a lot condescendence even when they see you running away from them. It's disturbing.
