Funny experience last night...
by pronomono inmy story in brief..... after being a born-in, getting baptized at 15, and seeking to excel based on the approval of elders and my parents, i hit a bump in the road.
i moved to a new congregation, and was a little more than disheartened by the lack of love.
with all my responsibilities removed from the recent move and being told that i no longer qualified for responsibilities due to my declining activity, i sat down to do some long overdue research to appreciate our spiritual heritage.

After my mom left the organization when I was a teenager I really latched on to the punk rock culture. I got a lot of piercings and later tattoos. Now, I'm in my mid thirties and I definitely has a similar style as this woman, but maybe to a lesser extent because she has far more money to invest on her appearance. I often wonder how many ex-witless kids latch on to this subculture because tattoos and the like are looked down upon among the zealots in the organization.

Do you look like the apostate they warned you about?
by Angus Beef inafter waking up and wanting to get out of this nightmare, the word apostate is really bothering me.
if i quitely become inactive, fade away will i just be looked at as "always weak".
i want to scream out how big a fool i was.. and now telling my poor young daughter how wrong i was to bring her up as a jw.

marriage without affection/sex/touching
by zeb inyes thats my situation.
some where along the path of life the wt guilt trip was dumped on our marriage and we havent had sex for years.. anyone else?
the hearts and flowers and gifts and doing the cleaning, the house work and paying the daily accounts never being drunk on drugs playing the horses or screwing others yep its all there but nothing coming back due to the wt guilt trip.. they made so much of 'oral sex' and 'pornea' incorrectly quoted at that and ventured thereby into areas they were patently very ill equipped to comment on.

Not only was oral sex a huge topic in the 80s, they didn't sheild us JW children from the discussion. I remember being in book study with my family, I was 6-7 years old and they were discussing oral sex in front of the children!
I honestly believe my lack of sexuality and shyness in the bedroom is due to growing up in this cult. It's such a hard thing to overcome. I'm not sure I'll ever be comfortable in my sex life and I've been married to a wonderful, loving man for 15 years. Thankfully our marriage has survived in spite of my hang-ups.

Nugget,
What you just wrote is exactly the way I imagined Kingdom Hall and House-to-House would be for my autistic son.
I even sent it to my mom, who has been disfellowshiped for many years BUT refuses to look at apostate literature and forums. I thought she should see it because I keep wanting to encourage her, that she made the right decision 25 years ago to leave, but she's still riddled with guilt.
But, it seems that your son and my son are very much alike. And, it just proves once again that this is an organization of mans' whims, and not of God. -

Here's an article from the WT. So, apparently if a person with autism keeps *trying* to do the Witness-mandated things you'll eventually get used to it and want to do it. Yep, the cure for autism. (It doesn't mention children with autism.)
"As Claire’s confidence increased, Chris suggested that she try to serve as an auxiliary pioneer, a term Jehovah’s Witnesses use for baptized Witnesses who spend 50 hours or more each month sharing their Bible-based beliefs with others. “I can’t do that,” Claire responded.
However, Chris encouraged her by saying that even if she didn’t achieve her goal of 50 hours that month, at least she could be happy that she had tried. So Claire tried, and she really loved the experience. She did it again and again, enjoying it all the more. This built up her confidence, especially when she found many people who wanted to learn more about the Bible.
Claire took to heart the encouragement she heard at Christian meetings to consider whether there was anything stopping her from becoming a regular pioneer, or full-time evangelizer. She decided to become one. The result? In Claire’s words, “It’s the best thing to do!” She has become much closer to those in her congregation and has developed many friendships. Children love being in her company, and she gladly helps them as they preach together."
YUCK!!!
