And I, for one, think that the parents of the Columbine assassins should have been held partially responsible for being such ignorant fuckwits that they had no clue as to the arsenals that their children were compiling.

  First off, how presumptuous of you to refer to me as "a sweetheart."

  Second, I made no comment about race, simply stated the truth. Drugs are illegal, no matter who you are, no matter what side of the city you live on, no matter what your ethnic background; it's called being held responsible for your actions. The law makes no differentiation, last I checked.

  Sorry to lose you, your posts are very thoughtful. You made me remember that there are good-hearted people who just happen to be JWs.

  I find it all too easy to JW-bash, talk about "those people" and say that "they're *all* hateful towards non-JWs" but then someone like you comes along and restores my faith.

  NO teenage white males in leather coats gunned down. NO War on Terrorism waged.

  No "war" was necessary; the perpetrators were dead.

  In what all news anchors call the worst act of terrorism ever
  on American soil(up to that time) NO war on terrorism is waged.

  Initially, it was believed that this was an act of terrorism perpetrated by Afghanistan; only later was it determined that it was one of our own who committed this horrible crime (excellent points, teejay).

  The War on Drugs has not worked what it has done is put
  many, many, way to many young Black men in jail.

  Um, last time I checked, drugs were still illegal. Don't abuse/sell drugs, and you won't go to jail, black or white.

  I guess there is a line drawn between internal terrorists (KKK, Aryan Nation, Black Panthers) and external terrorists (Osama bin Laden). This shouldn't be the case -- any group that uses terrorism as a means to further its cause or draw attention to a belief system should fall under scrutiny; not "just the Afghans" or "just the Young Nazis."

  I'm learning that being an American is a lot harder than I thought; I have to put up with the disgusting rhetoric of the KKK, the Black Panthers, the supporters of Osama bin Laden that have dared to voice their support of the attacks in NY and DC. These people spew hatred for specific ethnic groups of people, blaming everyone else for the problems plauging their society. It's called free speech, and as long as they don't act violently, they are entitled to it.

  Teejay, I, too find it interesting that Americans wanted to find out about McVeigh, his childhood, blah blah blah, find something to blame for his horrible actions... we couldn't fathom that a normal person could commit such a heinous act.

  Mark: I don't agree with your statement that "Jr. is finishing a war that Sr. walked away from." But, that's OK. I don't have to agree. It's that free speech thing again.

  i think he did a good thing to post an important point of view, a view that needs consideration to balance out the actioins of political leaders everywhere.

  ...that he's finally out of the limelight.. before it struck home how actually horrific this whole thing was, i cracked a joke about how much gary condit paid to have those two planes rammed into the wtc, just to get himself out of the top news story spot.... i apologized to the person i made the comment to, and still feel guilty.

  First, I got Caller ID. I didn't answer the phone.
  Now, since Caller ID got so expensive, I let the answering machine screen my calls. I don't pick up if I don't want to.

  If you must answer the phone, set an electronic egg timer for 5 minutes, 15 mins, whatever, and when it goes off, say, "I've got a roast in the oven, have to take it out" etc.

  After 10 minutes on the phone (cordless), walk to your front door and ring the doorbell (this works even better if you have a dog; he'll bark and add to the noise). Say, "uh, gotta go, someone's at the door."

  Just my $.02... it's worked for me.

  Gas Prices

  we have been informed in dayton that gas prices will go up by midnight by 4 dollars a gallon.

  i hope this is another false alarm, but i am filling up in either case.

  Some stations in Cleveland, Ohio were starting to charge upwards of $4 per gallon. The Mayor of Cleveland put out a cease and desist order last night, in which they ordered them to either lower their prices to under $2 per gallon or to turn off their station lights. If they didn't comply, their station entrances were blocked by Cleveland Police and no customers allowed to enter. In addition, a formal complaint re: them would be lodged with the Attorney General and they would be submitted for license revocation.

  I thought this was great! And I'm *not* a big Mike White supporter...

  well they have finally done it.

  they finally took our towers down.. the towers that i used to visit so much as a kid and adult.

  my twin towers.. i was mobilized yesterday as part of the nypd as the city went into it's highest security alert.

  To the fire fighters...............

  it was reported on the news that half of the ny fire force lost their lives today due to the tragedy at the wtc.

  i will pray for their families.. to all the fire fighter in the us and the world over.

  i thank you for your hard work.

  My husband is a cop. This whole thing made me hug him a little tighter when he got off work yesterday, and again this morning before he left for duty.

  May God bless the families of the brave men and women who have given their lives in an attempt to save others. Thank you every day for your dedication to a job that puts your life on the line for little pay.

  JW relatives laying it on heavy...

  my father in law just called me to see how we were doing here this evening.

  i was glad to hear from him, but of course i got a good dose of jw reasoning along with the concern.. he mentioned he was on his way to a dentists appointment this morning and was listening to the awake!

  Bob's Girl... excellent way of handling the situation. I was able to get on and off the phone with my mother quite quickly (my building in Cleveland was evacuated) and she was out in field service, so of *course* they weren't listening to the radio...

  When someone at a door started yelling about what was going on, they got back in the car and turned on the radio. Then, they went to the next door and when the lady answered, the USED THE TRAGEDY AS A TALKING POINT. Why am I surprised by this? Mom said, "everyone wanted to talk to us about this today..." I felt like saying, "yeah, I'm sure that they didn't realize that you were using it to try and convert them to a cult."

  My husband was disgusted when I told him about our conversation.

  I hope everyone is OK, and anyone who has relatives in NY, I'm praying for you.
