For some strange reason, the JWs there are having a difficult time accessing the words "yes" or "no" although I have really been trying to assist them with this. LOL

Everything is fine for me. The whole thing about blaming Windows XP is ridiculous. There are obviously demons in your computer due to your presence on an apostate site....happens all the time. All you need to do is to take your keyboard outside and burn it. That should rid you of the demons and everything will be fine. Oh, yes....and be sure to send the remains (if any) to the elders in your local congregation so that they will be able to determine exactly what kinds of demons were infesting your machine and so that they can help you to regain your spirituality. This will consist of receiving a new keyboard that is approved by the WTS. It comes with only one key, which types out www.watchtower.org
Problem solved.

The locking of threads.
by seven006 init seems like there is a little fire starting to burn here on the subject of locking threads.
iv been on this board a long time and on average have only seen about one out of every 200 threads locked.
those who have their threads locked take it very personal, that's understandable.

All right....all right....I'm sorry......it's my fault....it must be!!! I haven't been around for awhile...just way too busy (did anyone notice? )...and just before I went on hiatus there was a big hoorah about locked threads. Now as soon as I return, the same thing is starting again.
Therefore, ipso facto, it is MY fault....mea culpa.....forgive me..... (sigh)

Where do you believe the watchtower organization will be in 20 years?
by micheal ini know if any of us had our way the org.
would be gone tomorrow.
but in realistic terms, what condition will this cruel organization be in in 20 years.. .
-
RedhorseWoman
I personally think that the WTS will be around in 20 years, but that it will be barely distinguishable from any other mainline religion.
Some JWs have already begun to shift focus from an absolute end to "this" system and a beginning of the "new" system, and are starting to express the opinion that the "new system" is already here, but in a limited way within the JW organization. It has also been opined that Armageddon actually started in 1914, and is an ongoing process.
Although this particular JW is obviously "going ahead of Jehovah," she just might have a good thing going here. If the Society began new-lighting this stuff within the next few years, they could solve the 1914 conundrum as well as keep the salespeople going at a good rate. After all, the WTS is, first and foremost, a publishing company, and they need to keep pushing that literature.

MY CONSULTING TRIP TO BETHEL (starting over) PART 6
by seven006 inwithin a few weeks i leased a condo on the banks of the willamette river just out side the city of portland.
as she got into her car she looked at me funny again, laughed and just shook her head.. .
i told him that if i said i was sorry, i knew that is what they wanted to hear but it was not the truth.

I always wondered what happened to that harlot since the Babylon book was new-lighted into obscurity....or could it perhaps be due to the inaccuracies contained therein? Hmmmm......well, anyhoo, I'm glad that the harlot found a nice boy with whom to spend her time.....that beast could, I'm sure, be a real problem at feeding time. ;)
Thanks for sharing your experiences.....I've read them all....saved my comments for the last one.

I Feel Saaaaaad today :(
by ESTEE in.
today i found out through my ex sisters-in-law that my jw daughter, heather is engaged and will be getting married on september 21. i am not invited.. estee

Estee, I'm so sorry that your daughter has done this to you. I still remember your hopeful excitement when you learned that she would be fairly close to your new job. I had hoped that perhaps she might be a mature enough person to realize the important things in life. It seems that she needs more time to grow up, however.
You've gotten some good suggestions about sending a gift certificate and a card. Don't let her foolishness keep YOU from expressing your love for her. Her actions in this are making her the loser, even though you are hurting because of them.
You are a good person, Estee. ****HUGS****

MY SWAN SONG
by northern girl inabout seven weeks ago i posted here for the first time.
in that post i said i'd like to be reinstated but felt it likely wouldn't happen because the shunning was too much for me.
well, my prayers have been answered and i am reinstated.

Well, what an unpleasant surprise. I haven't had time to post here in quite some time, so this evening I decided to take a couple of minutes to peruse a few threads and what do I find?
Northern Girl, with whom I have never had the pleasure (or, perhaps, pain?) of conversing has just declared that she has hung her brain in the back of the closet so that she can return to the pen....er, coop....um, flock. A sad, sad thing when someone eagerly parks their intellect at the door and throttles down their quest for knowledge in order to be spoonfed.
Truly a night for grieving. (sigh)
Well, NG, I hope that you find what you think you are looking for. I hope that you don't look back after 50 fruitless years of trekking door-to-door selling literature and wish that you had done something useful with your life. Just remember to put away something for retirement. You WILL need it...guaranteed.
Oh, and congratulations on giving up smoking.

I'm Cursed
by ashitaka infor years, my wife and i have had bad luck.
we were abused and were part of a destructive cult that almost succeeded in driving us to successfully commit suicide, we had to elope to get married, she cried for a year because of how rotten her parents were to her, she almost died a year later from an athsma attack, we got screwed to the tune of $6,000 on medical bills, our cars continually break down, my job is screwing me out of 15,000 a year just because they can, my wife got into a major car accident that has left her in continual pain, i myself have knee, hip, back and foot problems, we may not win the civil case to get some exta funds for her injuries, which will leave us even more profoundly in debt (possibly $6,000), her parents essentially disowned her, we had her deadbeat brother live with us for 3 years because we felt sorry for him, and we barely even got a thank you for our sacrifice, our car insurance is 6,330 a year (more bad luck), we can't afford to buy food, my wife and i are both near physical and mental breakdown, and this morning, my car's transmission broke after sitting in traffic on route 287 for three hours.. there's nothing left of me.
i must be cursed.

by run dont walk ini am presumming that all of the governing body are of the "annoited class" and up there in age.. so what happens when they can no longer look after things, which should be soon, there are no other annoited really to take over.
and 10 years from now all the supposed "annoited ones" will be gone.. whta will become of the governing body ??????.
the watchtower must be a bit worried.. will there be "new light" and make up a new body ?????

Actually, I've noticed that lately JWs are denying that 1935 was ever set out as a "cutoff" date. They are stating now that 1935 was the date that they realized that there were many JWs who didn't feel the heavenly "calling" and that they simply realized that there would be an earthly class.
According to what they're claiming now, there is no need to say that new anointed ones are replacements, since they claim that the anointed class was never closed.

An elder wants to study with me...please help!
by shotgun inafter my recent barrage of elder visits i've been told that to truly show i'm willing to work at restoring my faith a bs is needed.. i want to be able to pick a few recent publications (last 10 yrs) and sit down with him and examine all the quotes and references in the publications to show how the society has misquoted and misrepresented so much in their publications.
do you know which publications would be best..keeping in mind the reference material will also have to readily accessible to be of any use.
i don't think searching on the internet will be acceptable to him.. .

Very precarious position. My husband and I had been inactive for quite a long time, but we finally decided that we really wanted to re-activate ourselves.
We sought out the Kingdom Hall, and attended the Public Talk and Watchtower study. An elder approached us after the meeting to determine our "status" and we explained that we were trying to re-activate ourselves. A study was arranged.
Now, here we were, REALLY trying to get back in, but my husband had gotten baptized without having much of an understanding of many points (he did it mainly so that I would date him). Therefore, my husband began asking lots of questions, only because he really wanted to understand the points being presented and wasn't willing to accept the "you'll just have to wait on Jehovah" or "you'll just have to accept this on faith" responses.
Even this legitimate questioning in an attempt to understand made the elders very uncomfortable and suspicious, and they began casting around for something that would allow them to get off the hook with this "obvious disbeliever."
They noticed an empty ashtray on our coffeetable, and asked my husband if he smoked. Since we had been inactive for years, he had gone back to smoking, and he admitted it. They gave him an ultimatum that he could not meet, and he was summarily disfellowshipped.....all for asking too many questions in an attempt to fully understand everything.
It's very dangerous to study unless you're willing to concede every point and agree with everything they tell you.
