I'm actually surprised Splane used the word 'gospel'! Shouldn't he have said 'Bible' or Some other witness approved lingo? Are they saying gospel now?

Being marginalised by JW's and family, how to combat it?

when one leaves the religion and fades it starts to become obvious that they move on with out you but this is not enough for them so they also marginalize you, loose respect for you etc.

they even tell stories about you.

example my wife talking to my mother tells her that i now believe aliens came to this planet and created man.

I was brought up that way too. Most witnesses were. We have to remember that by leaving the religion we've graduated and are free. That constantly watching every single thing you do and wear and say and answer and where you go and how you wear your hair and what musc you listen to and friends you have and how often you make an appearance at the meeting for field service and how many hours you turned in...and worrying about expressing your opinions because it has to follow the party line!...that's all gone, thank god. Unfortunately some of this worrying about how we appear still exists in the world...worrying about driving a car that's fancy enough, or what college your kids get into or brands of clothing your family wears. None of that brings happiness. It's all superficial.The only way to be happy is to be free, and to be yourself. Caring what other people think just robs your happiness, and as you say, is mentally harmful and terribly repressive!

Correct false stories when you can. But remember not to worry too much about what other people think about you. That is the witness way, constantly thinking about how you appear to others. But it's your life to live. You are breaking free, so let go of those old worries. What they think doesn't really matter. They are all nutty anyway. Just because their belief system is socially accepted amongst themselves doesn't make it less crazy. So just live your own life and they can think what they want.

I hope you're finding ways to survive fmf! It's convention lunchtime right now. Yumyum. Rabbit food, or you have an icebox I hope?

Someone told me they found the old brand of convention Danishes at smart and final, it's the ONE thing I miss about conventions. I've got to get to smart and final!

Great point, muddy. We can't take them for their word about other religions and their own 'problems' until they completely change their policies. I do hope it's leading to something positive, tho. Anything that might halt families being torn apart is a good change. One can hope.

This is what leadership looks like

since the day pope francis told catholics to stop obsessing about abortion and gay marriage, and get to the business of helping the poor, i have been afraid for his life.. in one statement, he pierced 2 sacred cows of catholic and evangelical thought, and he has not stopped.. he has lectured the world on real evils, mentioning capitalism in particular as a system that has left billions in desperate poverty.. he has now said that global warming threatens the world, particularly the poor, and is calling on the world to change it's lifestyle to save the planet.. i can't remember ever, in my entire life, when someone in as powerful a position as the pope, actually speaks out loud and in public the actual truth of the world's environment and calling the world to action, without regard for the consequences.. hard line catholics don't like him; fox news hates him, one pundit telling him to leave science to the scientists (of course, fox news doesn't leave global warming to the scientists) and today this from greg gutfield, fox news:.

"the most dangerous person on the planet is someone who is seeking strange new respect from their adversaries.

and that is what the pope is doing, said gutfeld, implying that the recognition of the existence of man-made climate change is fundamentally at odds with catholicism.

This pope is almost enough to make this good Protestant girl turn catholic!! The issue Morpheus mentions above, is more complex than that...a balance between capitalism and socialism is best...but I mostly agree.

This guy DOES show true leadership. What does the insignificant GB have to say, what is their epic statement? Gays like tight pants? They 'show leadership' by saying follow everything we say, or else.

as soon as he was elected, a catholic friend of mine said he feared for his life, thought the hardliners might try to have him assassinated. I think chances of this happening are getting stronger by the day. He definitely has cojones!

my wife has recently become very curious about my activity on my ipad.

i delete my browsing history but if she should discover this site and my identity here, she will gladly hand me over to the hangman, something i have managed to avoid for quite some time now,.

i hit the "sign out" button, but i find that i'm still logged in!

Private browsing often leaves cookies. I like the chrome idea...wiping everything clean every time. I hope the private/shared computer box works for everyone...

really tho, with jealous mates, it helps to give them more attention, make them feel so loved that they know you're not into anyone else and they stop obsessing. Presents aren't necessary, just affection and nice things you say.

My mother always had a special vitriol towards the Catholic Church. Many witnesses did. The society did. This talk is just very strange for them. What is the motive?

Then he talks about 'the anointed' and there's their crazy theology, out of nowhere. If Catholics were 'anointed', that doesn't leave any room for a witness 144k, does it.

Theyre crazy. I do appreciate kinder words and less judmentalism....but didn't he slam Protestants (who their religion is closer to) in this same video? It's like the hatred is morphing, and I don't know why.
