Sbf I totally agree. Tho I am actually liking Hillary now. Something happened at the DNC for me. Maybe it was the look she gave her daughter. Funny how in one moment I changed my mind about her.
Kepler, I came to a realization during your post. Trump equals Rutherford! (Except with less hypocritical religiosity.)

This generation will by no means pass away
by Darryl ingood morning i hope everyone is having a wonderful day.
there has been a lot of talk about the "new light" concerning the generation teaching.
it's been a major part of the prophecy concerning the last days and of course since jws are the only ones able to decipher and understand prophecy it is of great importance to get this main prophecy right.

I always wonder what the waiting staff thinks of these lunch conversations. It must be weird hearing parts of ex witness lunch talks. It would be kind of fun being a waitress and sort of a detective, trying to figure out what people are talking about. I bet when they spend a long time at the next table, wiping it down, they are listening to every word :).

Suffering with "Bridge-over-River-Kwai-syndrome" while fading
by OneGenTwoGroups ini've never liked being late for meetings, 10 minutes early has always been 5 minutes late for me.
i'm a very punctual atheist at the meetings still.. when someone asks a simple question from the platform and not one dummy raises their hand, i still feel the need to raise my hand so that we don't all look like idiots.. my shoes still need to be clean and polished, my suits and ties match and are in good shape.
i never wear them anywhere else.. i still feel like saying hello to people that are obviously being ignored by everyone else.. people not singing out still bugs me, lol.

You're a responsible person, and socially very conscientious. These are good things. Plus, old habits die hard. Hopefully you can find a new outlet for these things, one that actually agrees with you instead of causing internal battles.

How would the world be different if there were no JWs?
by JW_Rogue ini think this would be a great question to ask active jws.
they love to say how the world would be so different if everyone was a jw.
however, what if we flip the question and ask, would the world really be much different if the jw faith never came into existence?

I need a little help
by Darryl inmy story is i've been df'd for about 20 years.
a couple years after i started attending church and found it to be a tremendously uplifting experience.
from the people to the music, message everything drew me in.

Londo, exactly. A good church doesn't scream that they have all the answers and are the only one that can save people (that's a cult...fascist like Donald Trump ;)). A good church accepts people with different views. In mine, most believe in evolution, there might be some that take the bible more literally in some spots than others, and it really isn't a big deal.

This teaching in particular has changed with the times. Whenever they needed to add some years, they changed the interpretation. But this overlapping generations thing is particularly ridiculous and completely unbiblical. Desperation fueled. They will continue to do whatever it takes to make themselves the important ones.

Republicans are more likely to go libertarian than democrats, and with this election in particular, whatever gets people to not vote for trump, I'm all for it. It just means Hillary wins. So you would be making a statement against trump, yet not outright supporting Hillary. I say go for it.
My view of libertarians tho is this: former republicans who have decided they are more accepting of other people's definition of morality and believe strongly in freedom....yet they still don't give a crap about helping people, either internationally or within their own country. I may be a little wrong because I really haven't given them the time of day, despite being a political junkie.
