i've heard on a few occasions from my research on the internet that 1914 really does not have the significance that wtbs assigns to it.
from my limited understanding on the matter it involves the wtbs moving the date of the destruction of jerusalem.. can someone give me a little more detail on this or provide a link with a website that does?.
if its true that the wts has manipulated historical dates and bible scriptures to support this date of 1914 then that would mean everything else crumbles.. thanks for any info on this
The former director of the British Natural History Museum once remarked about JW's visiting the museum. He said something along the lines of he found it amazing how the JW's would come in and be so impressed with the museums historic displays and what not and took everything said as the absolute truth except the 1914 date.
Long story short, Russell was a pathetic historian. He figured out that 1914 was supposed to be big and important. Later someone else pointed out where Russell's ideas in regard to dates were flawed. Instead of moving the date to the correct year they basically said Jeruselem was destroyed in a different year than what is widely accepted by every single historian out there. If you read "Crisis of Conscience" Franz even talks about how when writing a book for the society it was his job to do his best to discredit the truth about that and how near impossible it was.

i am watching what i think is the dumbest movie ever put on film,the quick and the dead.
sharon stone (who i think looks great with no panties) absolutely sucked in this stupid movie.
whats with the plot of this yawner,its been done a bit too much.she was terrible and gene hackman must have needed the money when he signed on to do this groaner..just my opinion and we all know what they about opinions...they are just like assholes, we all have them and they all stink...
Gummo. Absolute worst movie ever. From what I can remember of the plot these two middle school (I think they might have been that old) boys go around shooting cats to sell to the local chinese resteraunt. What do they want the money for? So they can go pay some guy to let them have sex with his mildly mentally retarded sister. That and there's also this kid in a dirty bunny suit running around the whole movie who ends up making out with some girl in a pool towards the end of the movie. Think it sounds bad? I can't even begin to describe how bad it really is.
As for Dogma, I loved that movie!!!! Anything, and I mean anything, made by Kevin Smith is pure genuous (I'm pretty sure I misspelled that). I laughed my ass off watching that movie. Same could be said for Chasing Amy. So some of may have been crude. That was part of the story which was used to prove a point. The scene where Holden tells Alyssa he's in love with her was the most emotionaly ripping scene I've ever seen in any movie. I don't know if anyone else has been in a situation even close to that but if you have you know all the stuff he's saying is better than anything you could ever come up with.

Jesus tap dancing Christ! Why not give new people the benefit of the doubt and assume that just because someone new posts anything at all that its because they just want to know? All they did was ask a question and they're starting stuff? What?!?!?!?!
As for why the Catholic church is getting so much press coverage for molestation while the JW's get hardly any is simple. The Catholic church actually matters in some way or another to the majority (or at least a large percentage of) the population. Mention JW's to the average person and they might think of those weird people that don't celebrate anything and always are trying to get people to buy their magazines. Mention the Catholic church to the average person and they will know of priests, bishops, cardinals, the pope, Lent, Ash Wed., Good Fri., hail Mary's, etc.... Most people around the world probally know who the pope is. Those same people probally don't have a friggin clue who the governing body is or anything about them. I'm not trying to minimize the horrors of being a JW (especially molestation) but comparitively the JW's and their sex scandals are just small potatoes compared to the Catholics. Not only that but the news only has so much time to report that kind of stuff. They can't make every news story be about how religous leaders of any church abuse their members as there actually is other stuff going on in the world.
why is it important to be able to spot a sociopath?

Jeez, give the guy a break people! He went, he had fun. So some people still in got frightened. So what? So maybe he was a just a little disrespectful, its not exactly like you get loads and loads of respect from the JW's. Besides, JW's are going to think evil things about former JW's anyways. Why not have a little fun in being able to live up to the evil image already given to you?

Never saw the video but I'm sure if I had I would have dumped my non-cult member girlfriend as well as all my other friends from school. Oh, how my life would have been so much better if that video had been put out sooner!

Trying to be nice so people who are new or may be outsiders don't get freaked out. Make sure we act nice and acceptable so that people aren't frightened away. Doesn't matter how we may actually be, its how outsiders will perceive us.
Sorry, I'm going to be an ass. I had enough of worrying and censoring myself so outsiders wouldn't think negatively about me or the group back when I was in the cult.
If someone thinks I'm an ass that's fine with me and they can think what they want to think. You can perceive me however you want to but I think its rather ridiculous to be someone I'm not so outsiders and new people don't think bad things about the group.
