Evidence of creation?

not trying to start a discussion about extra-terrestrial life, but i assume that most feel it to be a rather strong possibility whether your belief is in creation, evolution or both.. i agree that discovery of intelligent life outside this world doesn't prove creation.

suppose however that such life were discovered and that it was of the homo-saphien variety?

what would be the odds of this happening through pure evolution?

Not exactly true. I talk to research scientists on a fairly regular basis. Not only are they professionals, they are professionals that love anything out of the ordinary when it comes to space topics. The new understanding of certain areas may be met with a certain resistance at times but its only because the topic being brought up doesn't fit into any models that are currently understood. Finding things that don't fit the mold are absolutely loved though because they help gain a better picture of the universe that we're a part of. Its not supression that keeps metaphysics and UFOlogy down, its the lack of proof to back them up. If all the new ager's had the proof to back them up they'd be accepted. Just about all of it that I've seen though is rather flaky to say the least.
Oh, BTW, the research scientists that I talk to on a fairly regular basis are the same ones that study pieces of asteroids, comets, Mars, and the moon looking for any signs of life that may be out there.

intresting to chech how much money do you pay for bee out on internet here in sweden it is not so commen widh brodband on the country where i live, i hade modem and it cost a lot of money , if you are out on the days it costs around 2cent minute, and if you are out on the evning it is cheeper, around half, and then you have to pay a price evry month 20$, they who have brodband pay only 35$ and have acess all time, but i think it is impossibel to have it here it is only in the bigg citys.

I barter with my ISP. I send them a new sheep every three months and I get a cable modem connection. I also pay the rent by giving my landlord's family accordian lessons. I haven't the heart to tell them I've never played.

Secretly celebrate?

did you ever secretly celebrate a worldly holiday in a way that did or didnt bother your conscience?.

for example on a different day etc?.

cousin allows her son to recieve christmas gifts from non j.w.

I suppose your J.W. family feels in some way, that your chid isnt missing out these occasions so they are giving gifts to the J.W. child only.

True, but my son is missing out on the love and affection shown to my JW nephew. If they just couldn't afford to get my son anything that would be no problem. I just really pissed off thinking my son is treated badly by his own grandparents because of the cult.

what would you say if a close friend was to come to you and say: "i've secretly been studying with jehovah's witnesses and i plan to join their organization.

i know how you feel about the witnesses, but i truly feel that they are god's chosen organization.

i don't really want to hear anything negative about the society, but out of respect for our friendship, i'll let you briefly mention one reason why i shouldn't.

After thinking about it some I came to the conclusion that this arguement is quite faulty and makes me think this person would actually fit in quite well as a JW. They don't want to think about something deeply but just want to have everything nice and neat without any real depth to it. If you're going to be that lazy mentally I actually think the person wanting that one reason should go into the cult because they'll really fit in quite well.

through out time and nearly all human cultures and civilizations people have believed in god or gods?.

did this develop purly as a means for us to explian the world , or is there a part of the brain that causes peolpe to be religious?.

there is evidence that in fact certain parts of the brain are highly involved in religious beliefs and feelings.. its possible to actualy stimulate certain parts of the brain with a device that generates a strong magnetic field.. aim it at the front of the thalamus and you might experience a orgasm.

So, I guess it could very well be said that very religous people have brain disorders.
I guess that could somewhat explain cults. It also explains other things as well. Doesn't really suprise me though.

Actually, my belief in evolution would be even stronger if that were to happen. It would just prove that the same elements that made humans evolve are what are necesary to evolve other species on other planets.

Ah, this thread gets my blood boiling a bit. My parents, sister, and her family are all JW's. Myself, my wife and son, and my wife's family are not. Each year at Christmas time my family (minus myself, wife, and kid) all get together for a big meal and my nephew gets a bunch of presents (not christmas presents though!!!). Somehow, since we all celebrate Christmas my son gets absolutely no Christmas gifts from them. Each year at Thanksgiving my family (minus myself, wife, and kid) all gets together for a big turkey dinner. Somehow, myself, wife, and kid don't get invited. Each year on my nephew's birthday my family (minus myself, wife, and kid) all get together and my nephew gets a bunch of presents from his grandparents and parents but we are't invited. Somehow, since myself, wife, and kid do celebrate birthdays my son gets absolutely nothing from his grandparents on his birthday.
You know, its not really that I'm so concerned that my family doesn't spend money on my son because of their cult beliefs. Its that they, even if not by name, do celebrate them for my cult member sister's kid while totally ignoring my son.
I hate the JW's. I really do.

i have only two close friends who are witnesses that i care about.

i would like to share my feelings with them and still not get dfd.

do you think it is possible or should i forget it.

Desertflower talked about being turned in by her daughter. My best friend and his now exwife got turned in by her mother because they told her they had problems believing the bible is inspired and had slacked off attendance wise. It was just supposed to be a private thing where they talked to someone they respected because they were having problems with their beliefs and she turned it over to the elders. That nice private conversation with the person who is supposed to care more for you than anyone else (mom) turned into her ratting them out to the elders, my friend and his wife getting disfellowshipped, and Amy's brother telling his children that she was once very close to that they couldn't see aunt Amy because she doesn't love Jehovah anymore.
I think that story alone demonstrates what can, and most likely will, happen if you express your doubts to your friends.

wt has instituted the highest security measures from within.

in the course of the last year security has been installed at the trunk or core line going into and out of all wt facilities.

Winwhatwhere. That's the name of a program that does just what you're talking about. It can also email all the information gathered to a certain email address at any given time. Not only that, the person using the computer may very well not even know its running. Then again, if you're very good with computers (which I'm assuming most Bethelites aren't) you can kill it pretty easily. It was used at a company I used to work at so I was able to learn the ins and outs of it. I never liked but what pissed me off was when I found out it was on my computer. Needless to say I got it off but never heard anything more about it.

No it doesn't. It probably tracks where you come from and where you go after you leave but that's actually very common and is done on the majority of websites in operation. It doesn't require a cookie can be done whether you want it to or not.

I guess the question would be if this is just the simple truth from God, why all the draconian measures to spy on those who are members?

They're a cult. Cults like to keep pretty close tabs on its members, especially the people in its headquarters. On the other hand, some companies do the very same thing so take that to mean whatever you want.
