  One thing that went a long way toward convincing me of TTATT was that "worldly" people were actually nicer than most JWs.

  Did you ever have any real weirdos ? in your congregation who were Elders ?

  .....some of the things he did and got away with , to me now is unbeleivable , and maybe to you.. in all fairness he was well versed in the bible and very clever how he used it to put a critic to rest at the doors and in one instance when i was witnessing with him , he demoralised a pastor of his church .and i was impressed at that time.. but he had some strange ways , he was always looking for someone to break gods laws so to speak .he did set himself up as the policeman for enforcing gods law on the congregations .

  ( this is my description ) he was known to stand outside bros/sis.

  Some of these posts sound a lot like my late father. He thought he was everyone's conscience. Counseled people about the color of their car, for example, and was generally a hard-nosed $%#. Super self-righteous but carried around some dirty little secrets. Had me brought up before a JC because I confronted him about the harsh verbal abuse I had suffered at his hands when I was a teenager.

  i haven't been to a meeting (other than some cousins' weddings) for well over twenty years.

  i've always wondered what the fds was going to do with the "generations" thing once pretty much everybody who had been alive in 1914 is gone.

  i get that they've come up with some "new light" about this topic, but when i ask my mom (who's still in) i only get "well, the new understanding is complicated...".

  That toopid "generation" teaching is going to be their downfall in the end. I knew it was a maneuver in 1995 when they changed it. My first reaction to that article was, "We're going to see 2000 in this system, aren't we?" I remember the brother I said that to tried to spin it in the Society's favor. I just snorted.

  we have a small election here next tuesday.

  this will be my third time as a poll worker and my first time as an inspector.

  i had to swear to uphold the constitution, i don't have any problem with upholding the constitution.

  Experience: The last time Gorby went to field service

  it was a cold, grey, sunday afternoon in december 2007. a sunday just before christmas day, december 23. because it was the end of the month gorby and his lovely wife had to make some service hours after the congregational meeting.

  it was a long road, a road without an end, just in the middle of nowhere.

  some houses, some fields and some houses, it went on and on.
