Shunning. I don't even know if my 83-year-old mother is still alive. For that matter, what about my 51-year-old brother? I live on the east coast of the U.S. and they live in Hawaii, so it's not like I can roll by their house and check.

What's you BIGGEST pet peeve/disagreement with the WT or GB?!?
by TeenageInsider infor me its the district conventions.
not bragging in anyway, but i was born-into a family of 'higher ups' im talking co's and zo's..... and there is a room that they set up in the conventions/stadiums called the "chairmans office".
i always have access to these rooms, because im usually with one of my higher up family members who give talks and all that other crap.. anyways, while everyone in the convention is sitting in the sun, eating a slimy, soggy bolognia sandwich, the chairmans office is air conditioned, has a variety of chilled beverages, 'coke, pepsi, diet coke, gatorade, dasani water bottles,' not to mention the 'danishes, sandwich triangles, cookies, cakes, muffins, fresh coffee, and for lunch, pizza, salads, pastas, and lasagna'.

What is the most out of line / disturbing experience you have seen from Circuit Overseers?
by Poindexter Lionel Humperdique ini once heard of a circuit overseer blaming a loyal ministerial servant, that served as the accounts servant, of steeling from the contribution boxes, simply because he deposited the congregation funds bi-weekly instead of twice a week.
due to the accusation, the ms was immediately removed without hearing his side of the story.
isn't this rather counter-intuitive and innefficient?

Wow, some really jaw-dropping stories in this thread.
We had a CO who was like a cross between Eddie Murphy and Bill Cosby - used to grab the mike and pace around on the stage.
This same yahoo changed the seating arrangements in every cong in the circuit. First, he rearranged the chairs, even in the congs that had theater seats bolted to the floor, to a weird asymmetrical pattern with two zig-zag aisles. Then, he made it the policy that each publisher had to be seated by an attendant, filling up the front rows first, then each successive row, leaving empty chairs in the back. Didn't matter if you had an infant - if you got to the hall early you sat up front.
At the meetings for service he had each elder and MS sit in a separate row, then he invited the kids to fill up the "cars." He'd work only with the children. The rest of us slobs just made up our own car groups. After service we had to meet back at the hall and every elder or MS had to tell how many magazines their car group had placed. The MS's had to buy donuts for everyone and we'd all have a donut at noon.
To top it all off, this guy bragged about how he'd never had a full-time secular job in his life (pioneer-Bethel-CO). It was obvious, because in his talks he said toopid stuff like, "I don't understand how anyone could come to a meeting without brushing their teeth first!" or "I don't understand how anyone can come to a meeting and leave dirty dishes in the sink!"
At the time I worked at a full-time job and got home at about 6:15. We had a 7:00 meeting, so I'd usually heat up a can of soup for supper on meeting nights. My reaction to his toopid comments was, "Which is it - brush my teeth or do the dishes? I can't do both and get to the meeting on time."
His elders' meetings were legendary, often lasting until 1 a.m.
One thing he did that, in retrospect, seems fairly logical was to pile all of the extra literature and magazines on the counter and force the elders and MS's to split it up and pay for it all. I remember my ex-husband coming home from an elders' meeting with a pile of the old, old evolution books (the 192 page one from the 60s or 70s). What the fork were we going to do with those?
All of this from one arrogant, egomaniacal CO.

"Im glad he/she died"....
by nowwhat? inhow many times have you heard this one?
" that way they will be resurrected and not be destroyed at armegeddon".
which brings me to another resurrection question.

Add a big "ditto" for me. I used to hope that my beloved grandmother would die before Armageddon. How twisted is that?

My Jw mother hates me and always has
by 20yearfader ini just need to vent, you see i was a born in.it's taken me 20 years after fading from the org to finally get my mind free from the wt dogma.i was on the phone with my aunt today and the subject of my mother her older sister came up.now mind you i haven't spoken to my mother in a month or so after my daughter stayed the weekend at her house and she was being tag teamed about the hall and how i took a vow to jehovah and i'm a failure and i'll be destroyed at armagedon.this exchange upset my daughter so much that she was near the point of tears when she returned home and she hasnt spoken to my mother or father since.anyway back to the conversation with my aunt, she let it slip that my mother told her that she wished she had let the seamen that fertilized the egg that produced me had slid down her legnno bear in mind i can remember as a child running into her room playing and she would say to me as a 7 year old child "i wished i had left you in oblivion"this is one of many such saying my mother had for me......i wasn't a bad child i just wasn't allowed to do anything such as going outside going over a friends house....etc,i have struggled for years as to why this woman hates me so.i got baptized at 15 really as a way of pleasing them what the hell does a child know at 15??
?granted it took me some time to get myself together and put those hurtful comments in the past, but today when my aunt let it slip about what my mother has said about me it was like pulling a scap off of a wound.my wife always complains about how im emotionless and distance, this was done by me as a way of protecting myself.so i've decided and i hate to say this that my christian god fearing parents...are dead to me there is no way i can have a relationship with people that are so wicked and since she never wanted me anyway....it works out for the best thx i just needed to vent i felt like i was going to pop..

The story of Bo Juel Jensen - the man behind the Anti-Watchtower media campaign in Norway
by cedars inhi guys.
richard e. kelly has kindly contributed a great article to jwsurvey.org on the link below.... http://jwsurvey.org/child-abuse-2/bo-juel-jensen-could-he-be-watchtowers-worst-nightmare.
richard tells the story of bo juel jensen, an ex-witness who has been doing marvellous work in raising awareness of watchtower child abuse mishandling in norway.. as with most child abuse victims, bo's story is a disturbing one.

Love the article and video! It's shocking that the WTS clings to an outdated and unjust policy, all the while pointing its collective finger at the Catholic church.

NOAHS BIBLICAL FLOOD ACTUALLY HAPPENED, SAYS FAMED ARCHEOLOGIST WHO FOUND THE TITANIC
by ÁrbolesdeArabia inhttp://www.theblaze.com/stories/2012/12/11/noahs-biblical-flood-actually-happened-says-famed-archeologist-who-found-the-titanic/ .
"the story of noah's ark and its associated flood continues to be retold to children and studied by theologians, alike.
while some dismiss it as a mere fable, others believe wholeheartedly that the event literally unfolded, with a massive down-pouring of water ravaging the earth at god's command.

Somebody pointed out that anyone who has ever tried to get a dog into a car knows that the whole ark story is fiction.

As a resident of #6 on the list I can attest that it's true. I had lived up in New England where nobody talked about church or the bible, so it was a major culture shock when I heard people freely discussing religion, prayer meetings, church services, and the bible everywhere I went. I rode public transportation here for 6 years before I got a car, so I got an earful riding the bus.

Yesterday was my last meeting
by nolongerconfused inyesterday's watchtower study was the last straw for me...as you all have probably seen the post before me, here's the quote that did it for me.
11/15/2012 wt "forgive one another freely".
paragraph 16 - "in accord with jehovahs's will, christian elders have been entrusted with the responsibility of wrongdoing in the congregation.
