  bhb reported in late july that another property in the jehovahs witnesses real estate portfolio had hit the marketplace: the beautiful five-story, 5,088sf residential brownstone at 67 remsen streetwhich ironically backs up to the organizations recently sold bossert hotel.

  Back in 1979 I was new on the job and introduced myself to a coworker, mentioning I was a JW. He said, "I don't know much about them except that they own an obscene amount of property in Brooklyn Heights."

  Being only 20 years old at the time I had no idea what he was talking about. In fact, there wasn't really any way for me to know about the WTS property until I left and started hanging out here. Now I know what he meant.

  How about rebating that profit back to the R&F who broke their backs working to donate it to you?

  so this 70 something yr old brother, ex bethelite, ex spec pioneer, current pioneer with over 50 yrs of full time service is lamenting he might have to step down as an elder because he is computer ignorant.

  i guess the org uses the internet to communicate with elders and having internet access is required of elders.

  anyway he's going to dunkin donuts with his wife and he sees free wifi.

  Personal computers have been in common usage for over 35 years, and the Internet has been widely available for over 15 years.

  I'm 53 and I was forced to learn how to use a PC when I was 25 as they became common in the workplace. I got Internet service before I was 40.

  I'm saying that the older brother had his chances to learn. He chose not to.

  Long time Lurker, ready to join in...

  hi all, i'm a long time lurker, ready to join in and add my two cents worth now and then!

  i was in the religion for 25 years, out now for 8, along with my husband, daughter, and son!

  i would have to say pretty much the whole time i was in i didnt want to be, pretty much "dreaded" all aspects of it, meetings, service, assemblies, and talks, i hated talks, man o man would i be grouchy the whole week i had a scheduled talk.. we didnt have much family in, but lots of friends and many jw employees, pretty much lost all that, down to just one jw employee left(thats a good thing).

  I've been out for 8 years too. Still not long enough to deprogram, but doing pretty well. You're right about PTSD. I'm sure anyone who was in for decades has it.

  i've never written on this site.

  i've been inactive for about 6 years and glad i'm out.. i'm in my late 40's.

  so about 2 years ago, i go on facebook and looked up this brother i use to like when i was in my 20's he was a bethelite.

  Welcome JetSetter! Wow, you got a raw deal. I'm with the others in recommending you get out quickly. He's an adult and is responsible for himself.

  I worked with an ex-JW guy who was a liar, cheat, thief, and lazy to boot. Disappointing, to say the least.

  i went to see my good friend in a nursing home[he had been there about 3 weeks] and when i walked into his room his eyes were open and he had his glasses on.

  he didn't answer so i shook his leg.

  he didn't respond.
