if a pioneer is not a stereo.. if new light never requires batteries.. if a tract has nothing to do with land.. if the new system isnt a car stereo.. if a great crowd isnt an easy to please audience.. if the friends are people you may or may not know.. if you can have a bible study without pulling out a bible.. if memorial day isnt in may.. if starting your time has nothing to do with getting paid or going to prison.. if you spent five days at a baseball stadium, and never saw a single pitch.. for more click here..

Active/Fading JWs...How Many Have Been DFd in Your Hall in the Last Year?
by LostGeneration inmy jw wife came home really upset a couple weeks back.
someone was "announced" at the hall that she really loves, a young woman.
it was the fourth person dfd from her hall since the beginning of 2012. two young people, one single mother, (those three probably for "sex crimes" but i don't know 100%) and one ms, which is the most interesting from my perspective because i knew the guy to always be a rebel, and i suspect it was for apostasy or he dad.

I've been out for 9 years, but in the rural congregation I attended for the last 10 years of my association we had exactly zero DFs. I was the first one in all that time, and I DA'd.

"You don't get a second chance to make a first impression" AAWA
by yesidid inthe first impression one has of any group or organization is its name.
that is my problem with "the name'.
active, or even questioning witnesses will undoubtedly be alarmed by the connotation of name.

Let's suggest better names. Hmmm.....How about "Association of Watchtower Apologists (not)" or "Association of Watchtower Tweakers" or "Association with Obfuscated Motives vis a vis the Watchtower Society" or "We Mean the Watchtower No Harm, Sort Of."
Seriously, the WTS is such a snake in the grass, why would those of us who are awake want to imitate them and disguise our true objectives?

Clawing out of poverty via (E)ducation, not education
by MTSman inokay, so i've been what i believe is called a, "lurker", on this site for about four years.
i honestly don't remember how i stumbled on to it, but i totally get everyone here.
i'm a, "born in", pinoneered for like six-teen years, servered where the need is great several times, and even went to the, as the name alludes to, mts before it became a watered down theocratic ministry school.

Welcome, MTSman! Great story, and you have a talent for writing. I enjoyed reading it.
Of course I never went to college and have been toiling away at office-clerk-type jobs for my whole life. But, my unbelievably lucky brother, who was a Bethelite for 18 years, learned an actual lucrative job skill while he was in there. When he left he was running the water/sewer treatment plant at WT Farm. So now he's living in Maui and earning big bucks working at the Maui County water treatment plant. He has a beautiful house and a comfortable life, and I'm still out here (really out since I DA'd) trying to eke out a living with my meager skills and circuitous "career" path.
Good for you, getting yourself "eddikated," and for getting out while you're still relatively young!

Disfellowshipped for PARTAKING
by irondork ini wonder if anyone has ever been disfellowshipped just for partaking.
of course they would eventually tag it as apostacy, but the real reason would stand - and could get the attention of local media.. .
the newsies tend to shy away from doctrinal entanglements, but the idea of a "christian" church disfellowshipping one of their own for taking the sacrament - surely that would raise someones eyebrow.

About 17 years ago I knew a relatively young brother who sincerely believed he was of the anointed and partook. The local elders, who were all in their 70s or 80s, treated him as though he were mentally defective and verging on apostate. His wife and I were close friends, so I knew this first hand. In my uber-faithful outrage I wondered out loud what Jesus would think of this treatment of one of his brothers. How dare they judge him?

Are the Family of a Disfellowshipped Person Told in Advance?
by Eustace inin another thread a comment by mamochan13 related this experience:.
of course, after i was df'd my perspective changed.
one meeting a couple of months into it they announced that a young girl, about 17, had been df'd.

The official list of things for which you may be disfellowshipped
by slimboyfat infrom the secret elders' book which states that the list "of course" is "not comprehensive".
nevertheless here are the acts that they deem worthy of specifying as being possible grounds for chucking people out:.
murdermanslaughter such as killing someone while breaking traffic lawsattempting suicidesexual intercourse with someone other than your spouseanal sex with someone other than your spouseoral sex with someone other than your spousesexual stimulation of the genitals of someone other than your spousedelay in reporting a rape?

Waaaiiit a minute, here! What the heck happened to skydiving and car racing?
Now, this made me laugh out loud: Eating so much food that you feel sick. Who's gonna police that one? My guess is that no one has ever been DF'd for that since many elders are overindulgers themselves.
Extreme physical uncleanness - Never heard of this one.
Why so much focus on the breasts? What about male naughty bits? Is that okay?
I don't see "sexting" mentioned. Hard to keep up, fellas?

The CO 'encourages' Julia to meet with THREE elders- the latest episode in the best-selling drama, The Fade of Julia Orwell.
by Julia Orwell init was yesterday morning and hubby and i were having a huge sleep in.
it was just after ten, and with me being a bit flu-ey i was quite capable of staying in bed longer.
hubby was feeling it too, and we were pleasantly drifting in and out to the sounds of birds.. then suddenly, cloomp, cloomp, cloomp up the front stairs, then "rap-rap-rap" on the front screen door, that rapid-fire, strong knock of the practiced door-knocker.

Holy housecoat, Batman! What barefaced presumptuousness to keep you at the door when you're obviously not feeling well and try to pin you down to "meet" with the elders. "Rude" doesn't even begin to cover it.

Anyone here been Dfd for 'apostacy'?
by Julia Orwell injust wanna know.
i'm doing the fade but i reckon my big mouth could get me dfd.
i know plenty who've been dfd for fornication/adultery, but never met one dfd for speaking the truth.

I laid the stinkiest fart (silent one) and blamed it on the chairman
ISOT4 - LOL!!!! Now that's chutzpah!
Mouthy - I'm so sorry your DF hit you so hard, but I'm glad you're still with us!
In years past I would have said that practically nobody gets DF for apostasy, but this threat proves otherwise.
I probably should have been 'cause I was spouting heresy at home, but my ex-husband never turned me in. I owe him one.
