My cause is to personally recover and help my JW loved ones to think for themselves. It is not to bring down the Watchtower, even if I would love to see that happen.
My purpose at JWN is to share discussions with people that know where I am coming from and they know where I am coming from.
Many, but not all share my cause and purpose for their own lives. But really, we are a bunch of unherded cats.

I agree with OTWO. While I'd love to see the WTBTS crumble into dust, my main goal in participating in online forums and writing my blog is to support those who are "waking up" to TTATT.

Having children is bad

went to the weeknight meeting this week for the first time in a long while.

the study was all about how having children was ill-advised in this time of the end- the comments dwelled on what a burden children are, how you can spend more time in the ministry without children, and look what they did in jerusalem- they cannabilized their own children!

it's going to be so horrible to watch our children suffer during the great tribulation!

They've been saying that same stuff for 40 years. Jesus loved kids. He never said anything negative about being a parent. It was Paul who was the sourpuss.

a fanatic is a person with an extreme and uncritical enthusiasm or zeal for something.

they take an activity,interest or belief and go beyond what would be considered normal or necessary by the majority of people.. .

having grown up as a jw and now having been away from it a few years, i better see how accustomed i had become to being involved with an organization run by fanatics of the religious variety.

I would say that my "heritage" is composed of incontrovertible facts about my ancestors and well-documented historical events.

The JW "heritage" seems fluid and easily changed. There used to be a great deal of emphasis placed on CT Russell, in particular, as the one who "found the truth," or "was led to the truth by holy spirit." Yet, now, very little remains of his legacy (teachings), and he's been cut out of the family photos.

From what I heard it essentially checks how many "quick brakes" you have.

Well, jeez. Yesterday I had to "quick brake" twice because of apparently suicidal squirrels! I was inside my apartment complex, not on the main road, so there were no other moving vehicles around.

They've been harping and harping on this subject lately.

''Don't associate with DF'd relatives."

"Don't communicate with DF'd relatives. Not even an email, now! Y'hear?"

"Hey! We said don't do that! What are you, deaf or something?"

"Listen you morons, if you soften on your DF'd loved ones, you are disloyal scum and we'll kick your a$$ to the curb so fast it'll make your head spin."

"Okay, okay, we'll try positive reinforcement since you don't seem to be getting the point. Robert, here, was deprived of familial love for 16 years before he cracked. See what good can come of unspeakable cruelty? If his family can do it (and notice we didn't mention that any of them were elders or otherwise better than your sorry a$$) you can do it too!"

What's next? "If you so much as nod at a DF'd relative you are in league with the Devil and we will burn you at the stake."

Wow, bucking the law of the land! Wish the U.S. had a policy like that, although apparently the JWs would find some loophole to avoid exposing the pedophiles lurking in their kingdom halls.

Your worst convention experience.

by a split second rescuing our handicapped son from being pushed down the stairs by a flood of sisters rushing out to see as the drama had started.. the main offender being a special pioneer..

I got the bum's rush from a self-important attendant once, toward the end of my going to conventions.

My ex-husband had a 50% hearing loss, so he needed to sit in the hearing-impaired section and use the headphones. I was sitting with him waiting for the session to begin when this attendant came up to us and said I couldn't sit there. I protested and said I always sat with him in the hearing-impaired section. He wasn't having any of it and insisted that I had to sit separately from my husband. Twit.

Disgruntled and in a huff, I went down to the floor section and found a seat by myself a couple of rows from the stage. Just forcing myself to go to the convention had pushed me to the edge of my sanity.

Apparently, my inner shrieking showed on my face because my husband told me later that an attendant was assigned to keep an eye on me. I never noticed the guy, but he was sitting right behind me. What did he think I was going to do, rush the stage?

I think that was the only day I attended, and I never went to a convention again.
