I agree, its pointless. When I was a believer, I had more return visits and door step studies in my 3-6 hr a month routine than many of the pioneers at my hall. Of course anyone with the "IT" factor in presentation and selling can accomplish much in less time.

i was being told this was some "symbolic action" we were supposed to take towards the wt version of the faithful and discreet slave.
and something inside me just said, "no it isn't" its real.

I'll say it, they are despicable fools. And I do not say that to disrespect scripture, but to humiliate the Watchtower.
They were the first ones to ever apostasize from their very own standards! False prophecies; 1914, 1918, 1925, 1975, the generation teaching, UN affiliation, erroneous interpretations, and removing Jesus as mediator for mankind. What greater apostasy is there?? The audacity to still demand respect and God's favor is despicable. Throw that in any CO or DO's face and see how quickly they will storm out of the room, they are nothing but cowards living in cult bubble with their fingers in their ears.
I will say that this admonition from the DO is not going to stop JCs or Witnesses from calling those who disagree apostate/despicable/etc. This is just another discourse and example of WT leadership speaking out of both sides of their mouth.

I too noticed the absolute avoidance of the Faithful and discreet slave doctrine. Cults are like an onion, the outside layers being the most appealing and impressive, but when you get to the core, its all sorts of crazy.

"Can you show me how you get 1919 from using only the bible?"
"Why do museums, historians, and archaeologists all around the world say Jerusalem fell in 586/7bc instead of 607bc?" (this will make them have to study the topic)
"Why do you preach independent thinking and encourage an open mind to outsiders but condemn it for your fellow members?"
"Why do you teach and encourage an unforgiving attitude towards disfellowshipped ones when Jesus teaches us differently?" (Matthew 18:21,22. Mark 11:25-26; Matthew 6:14-15; Luke 6: 37-38; John 5:24; Romans 2:1; James 2:13)
If the Witness pull out 1 Corinthians 5:11, show them how that scripture was an exhortation and admonition that has to be personally made, not legally enforced by a religious institution. Show them 2 Thessalonians 3:14-15, "But if anyone is not obedient to our word through this letter, keep this one marked, stop associating with him, that he may be shamed. And YET DO NOT BE CONSIDERING HIM AS AN ENEMY, BUT CONTINUE ADMONISHING HIM AS A BROTHER." Show them that 1 Corinthians 5:11 uses the same Greek word found at 2 Thess which is used to establish the disfellowshiiping doctrine ("Not mixing in the company"). Ask the witness how the scripture found at 2 Thes can be any different? (Witnesses will say that this applies only to marked individuals who haven't committed grave sins in the congregation). Press them to provide evidence in scripture to say that 2 Thess only applies to a 2nd tier disciplinary action-- the context and idea not found in the scripture.
