Fading hurts so much!!
by ILoveTTATT inyet another update on my story:.
for various reasons, i still have to go to all meetings.
(i am looking to change my personal circumstances to allow me to live somewhere else so i can fade easier)... i actually don't mind going to the mid-week meeting since i can comment on the bible reading, and slowly but surely i can introduce little seeds of cognitive dissonance... making it seem like i am super interested in what the interlinear says or that people can actually go and check out the manuscripts for themselves online!

Sense of Mortality, Existential Angst and Leaving the Borg
by Frazzled UBM infirstly apologies if i am stating the bleeding obvious or covering something that has already been covered or just showing my ignorance as someone who wasnever a jw - i am new here and relatively new in my exposure to the wbts organisation and its dogma.
the thing that has occurred to me is that born-in jws and middle-age jws must avoid the teenage existential angst of really getting a sense of their own mortaility and the middle age crisis of realizing that their best years are behind and they on the long downhill slide, because they expect to live forever.
i always wondered why teenage jws are goody two-shoes while they are believers and often go off the rails, even as 20 or 30 something adults, when they wake up and i figure that, apart from the fact that they are no longer being told what is right and wrong and all of a sudden have to work it out for themselves, this may related to the expectation that you will not physically die.

Good points. I really think this is what prevents many such as my wife from waking up.. They are so set on the new world and never dying that they will blindly put up with anything to get that shiny carrot on a stick. Cult leaders know that if they have a good enough looking carrot, many will follow and do what they must, weather that be shunning, no lifesaving medical treatment, door to door, endless treadmill of works, to get the carrot.
I stopped having the desire to live in the WT Idea of a paradise; thats why I woke up. Most actually believe a promise just as ludicrous as the ones held out to the heavans gate people.. That they will never grow old, get sick, and die. Amazing when you think about it. They play off of a natural fear of death and say, "you never have to die if you just follow our commands".

Active Witness Reading Combatting Cult Mind Control
by BU2B ini have gotten a thought about how to wake active witnesses up.
since the book does not mention jws specifically, if you could get a active jw to read ccmc, what do you think their reaction would be?
could they clearly see how jws fit in as a cult?, or would the average jw be blinded to the obvious and just see how other groups like mormons, moonies, scientology, etc fit the mold?

Just a thought because I could present this book to my dad who is a book reader and just tell him I found it interesting, as it helps us understand the hold "Babylon the Great" has on people, all the while hoping he will make a connection to JWs!
Do you guys think it might work or should I not bother with this? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Interview of a sister - Friday morning at the District Convention
by Red Piller infrom my memory and shortened for highlights [my comments in brackets.
i found the whole interview astonishing]:.
"sister x-, you've been a baptized servant of jehovah since 1972.. you must have seen a lot since that time".

The evidence to them in evidently means that that must be the answer because the end hasnt come yet. They want to keep up the scare tactics and create a sense of urgency though so they could not leave it open like the 1995 explanation.

Self Proclaimed Faithful And Discreet Slave->Governing Body->CEOs Of Printing Company
by frankiespeakin inin the corporate world of the watchtower a fantacy persist, it consists of a hodge podge of scriptures connected out of context to each other, and a imaginary issue of "universal soverneignty" between two competing entities: one all good and extremely powerful(almighty) and the other all bad and much weaker by comparison.
which leave the seduced reader of such fanacy with a black and white choice as to who's side they should be on.. in their printed material of cherry picked facts and reasonings they lead their readers down the road of illogical assumptions that seem to the naive and ill-informed to make sense, as long as one suspends any critical examination of material printed by this corporation.. as the years have passed 1874-2013 illogical connections between scriptures leading to certain dates for their end of world predictions have failed with sad consquences for the trusting reader.
this has led many to forsake this printing company, whom in turn have recieved the labels, traitors, evil slave, profitless talkers, children of the devil, rebellious, apostate, etc.... which continues till the present.

Has the WT ever tried to explain all the misquotes?
by suavojr inwith all the misquotes the wt has publish in over 100 years!
have they ever tried to explain it in any of the publications..
-
BU2B
I dont think they feel they need to explain them seeing as we are the only ones who will research to see the quote mining. A R+F JW either does not care or blindly trusts them. On the other hand, once you know the tricks and deception and see TTATT you are a lost cause to them anyways. No sense drawing attention to it from their perspective.

That was Gold ADCMS! The sad part is, although that was satire, it really was almost identical to their reasoning on many dubious subjects where they take a principle and make hard and fast rules out of them, beyond what is written.
