I asked my die hard JW wife: if she heard a voice in her head say it was Jehovah, and tell her to drown our two daughters in the Niagara River to show her obedience, would she do it? She said no and she would get mental health evaluation if she heard a voice claiming to be god in her head tell her to kill her kids. (I was relieved to hear this, because she has said a couple weeks ago she would let our children die because of a FDS decree, even if she knew they were wrong. She would be obedient. I told her, thats when I would come in and save them)

How anyone can view this as a healthy expression of faith and a nice story is beyond me. Of course, the canned JW response would be that Abraham knew Je-hover could resurrect Isacc if Abraham was obedient. *************PUKE~!!!

Good video. I like the whole channel. If God was good, the test would have been failed by Abraham. If I was god and administered the same test, I would not be looking for obedience, but for Abraham to refuse to kill his son. His maintaining basic ethics in the face of a divine decree would be what I was looking for. No god who would ask someone to do this is worthy of worship.

I find this account as well as the account of Job, as well as mostly all of Genesis very disturbing. The God of the bible is a moral monster. If someone truly was to have "the mind of god" they would be imprisoned as a psycopath.

And now elduurs will use the same illustration to "help" people especially born ins who want to try life without the JW noose around their neck. They will perch their glasses on the edge of their nose, have the RNWT closed on the table, and slowly ask.. Think of it this way.. you wouldnt want to jump onto a highway in front of a Mack truck would you? Ahh the wisdom from above.

This lesson will not help young people to stay. It will not reach their heart. At least in the 60s and early 70s they had 1975 looming when they told their followers not to go to college and get good jobs. At least a young person could rationalize not doing those things because the end was mere months away. Now they do not have that card to play. They are in for the long haul now. Now all they have is promoting fear of the outside world and implanting subconcions and concious phobias about ever leaving. They hope the fear of shunning, and unreasonably thinking the world offers nothing but unwanted pregnancies, STDS and getting hit by cars. Seriously they have been pushing the idea that leaving the WT will get you hit by a car lately. Anyone notice this? It was even in the latest DVD from the RC! The dads story when he tried to keep the son in the WT included a story about a fatal car crash which had nothing to do with the issues, just a blatant implanting of fear onto the idea of ever leaving. Sick fucks.

what is the society's current view on medical marijuana?

obviously smoking is a no-no, but what about edibles, or oils (think they're called tinctures)??.

I would like to see how the elders would deal with a JW cancer patient who can only keep food down, or avoid other harmful side affects while on chemo by smoking MJ.

I would also like to see how they handle someone taking it for chronic pain. Sure MJ is a drug, but has far less side effects and is less addictive than other drugs like oxycotin among others. I would love to see their argument against it where it is legal.

I personally know a young co worker of mine who had brain cancer at age 23. He told me the only way he could eat and keep food down while on chemo is by smoking MJ. It is so sad to see state govts be so slow to allow these suffering people relief.

The part on page 30 paragraph 13 stood out to me where they compared trying out life "in the world" to jumping in front of a moving car on the highway. That is phobia indoctrination 101. Compare life outside the group to getting hit by a speeding car to see how painful it is? Wow. I dont know how people can read this stuff with a straight face, nod and believe it is godly wisdom. The comparison is so flawed that I cannot even formulate clear thoughts about it.

Also the writing style continues to be dumbed down. It seems that the regular WT is becoming more and more simplistic and dumbed down in its style and wording. The regular edition now is what a simplified edition would have been 2 years ago. The simplified is beginning to read like a Dr Suess book.

My DF'd father going in for cancer surgery

in january or february of this year, my father was df'd for viewing pornography.

he was diagnosed with a rare-ish lung cancer in august, it doesn't have good recovery odds.

he had been struggling with a porn problem for awhile, asking the 'brothers' for help.

Wow so pedophilia only gets a reproof, but harmlessly looking at depictions of normal human sexuality on screen gets you treated like you were dead. Nice.

Newsflash! All heterosexual men with active testosterone in their veins look at other women. Either they will admit to it or deny it but it is true. I believe it is normal behaviour. I am not talking about being a creep about it or leering. It is so crazy to me that some women think that by reading a few sentences on your wedding day, you can instanty stop noticing attractive women. Pornography can become an addiction like anything else, but like anything else, if kept in moderation it is harmless. If my wife was looking at porn, and I caught her at it, I would not be jealous at all. They are just images on a screen. If my wife is at the gym and notices a well built handsome man and likes what she sees, will it bother me? NO. Now if she got his number and went behind my back with him that is another issue entirely.

I was just thinking about the two meetings a week. The first one consists of the "congregation bible study" which involves reading a paragraph, answering from the paragraph and moving on. Essentially it is studying a book. The next, the Theocratic Ministry school consisists of short talks based around a bible theme, usually presenting the current WT view on doctrine. The last part, the Service meeting basically tells JWs what to do in the ministry and tips about return visits, studies, and door to door. Very sterile, clinical and nothing that resembles "worship".

On Sunday, you have a public talk, which seems to be 10 minutes of how bad things are and 20 minutes bashing other religions and then the "hope for the future" very doctrine oriented. Cliche Proof texts are read and twisted to fit what is being discussed. The WT study is classic indoctrination techniques. Read a paragraph or two, read a out of context scripture, and have the people answer the question based on the answer provided in the same paragraph.

Perhaps the prayer could be considered worship, but most of these fall short of that. The only thing I suppose that could be considered worship are the piped in, tinny sounding songs. For being called a place of "true" worship, the KH seems to have very little of it going on within its 4 walls..

Why do JWs think ISIS is sadisitc but the Israelites under Jah's command loving?

i have heard so many jws complain about isis and how cruel and sadistic and pitiless they are.

all my mind can think about is how their techniques are so similiar to the ancient israelites under joshua that the jws feel are heroes and champions of true worship.. role models for kids.

isis believes that non-believers who do not subscribe to their world view should be killed in brutal ways.

I know but my point was that even if Jehovah is not behind ISIS, they should still not be repusled by their methods, since they are scriptural.

What will the next "witness" fad illness be??

as we know, it seems that many witnesses "suffer" from "illnesses" at times.. now , before anyone scolds me for being insensitive or unfeeling, i am not mocking those who really suffer from illnesses of any sort.

i am having a go at those that jump on the bandwagon of the popular illness, which actually makes real sufferers feel jaded.. i am referring to the way that many witnesses who are actually damaged as a result of the constant "fear.obsession.guilt" of jw propaganda, often seem to "contract the current illness going around", or blame it on that instead of looking at the real cause.. im sure it is a subconcious result of the burdensome pressure of jw life that brings it on.

instead of seeing the draining effect on their lives as being the result of witness life, they will latch on to the next illness going around.. so, what is the latest going to be?.

There is a sister whos husband attends my hostage taking group (congregation). She never goes because she cant take the perfume smells and she is allergic to them. She does tie in, and sometimes comments. She runs a busy day care, owns dozens of pets, and travels to Florida every other month. My wife is friends with her but is suspicious of why she cant go and sit in the back. She has brought up before how she feels her son was DF unjustly. The family and extended family never shunned him, and went to Disneyworld together. Makes you wonder how many famiies there are out there like that.
