That says everything in regards to "Stumbling" among the JW's I think.

through all my years as a jw, i've always had trouble understanding the jw preoccupation with behavior modification; especially the teachings regarding ``stumbling.
'' why is it that we are expected to pander to the lowest common denominator.
i'm thinking in particular about the oft-used example that when we liberal northerners head south into the u.s. bible belt and encounter a jw who, influenced by local preguidices, abstains totally from alcohol.

on my way into work this a.m. one of our local kh's (i am not a jw) off the main road i travel to go to work.
it was about 6:00 am, and as i was passing by the kh parking lot, i noticed 3 ladies around one car.
it looked like "the sisters" were armed and ready to go on a door-to-door witnessing patrol.
6 AM.. Good lord, people would get pissed at em.

ok. i am thinking of trying this to maybe get my family to start questioning things.. here's what i want to do.
i want to get one of the ray franz books and casually leave it available for them to pick up.
my mother is not that bright to where she may think its something my dad brought home and open it up.
While I would like to think that it would work I'd have to think they may freak out a bit if they saw that book on the table. But what the heck, it's worth a shot!

i personally have never liked this person, but i came across an article on the net.
figgure i'd share it with the rest.. www.allmusicguide.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=a4zkzu3e0anok.
billed as prince's most controversial album at least by his press agency and label upon its release in the fall of 2001, the rainbow children was arguably his most curious album to date, which isn't necessarily the same thing as controversial.
I Guess this freak can go on and join the rest of the worlds "has beens"
Course I always hated Prince

pfizer corp is making the announcement today that viagra will soon be available in liquid form and will be marketed by pepsi cola as a power beverage suitable for use as a mixer.
pepsi's proposed ad campaign claims: it will now be possible for a man to literally pour himself a stiff one.
obviously we can no longer call this a soft drink.. this additive gives new meaning to the names of cocktails, highballs and just a good old fashioned stiff drink.
Gee I guess Bob Dole will get to push both products in 1 commercial then eh?

i have just learned that there was another jw suicide in western washington (south king county) last weekend.
the man was a young adult, in good standing, married and doing well financially.
i can't reveal more, and this one didn't hit the news either.
Very sad

first of all there are several different types of leukemia.
danny had acute lymphatic leukemia, he became ill at two years old...this was in 1972... he lived for 16 years died two weeks after he graduated from high school.. now...he never had an ounce of blood during the 16 years of treatment.
he underwent chemo theropy.. this was the worste class of childhood leukemia at that time.. this form was considered cured if the child remained in remission for five years...there was a 50-50 chance of those that had lymphatic leukemia would be cured by the 1980's he fell in the class that did not.. for five years he would be in remission then the drugs stopped working and he would have to under-go another type og chemo.
My god Wind.. I feel for your loss and pain.
Hugs to both Wind and rekless.. Not much else to say, I'm about speechless.

The pain you must feel is only understood by someone in that situation. I am only thankful that I am not one of them. My heart goes out to you and your family.

everyone remember a few years ago with the gb decided that the rank and file witness just wasn't bugging the hell out of enough people because no one was ever home saturday morning?
they came up with the brainstorming idea to approach people in parking lots!!!
(ya, that goes over reeeeeeeal well)......as if going to the person's home to tell them about their imminent death wasn't bad enough, now ya gotta tell them when they're out shopping!
I do remember a couple of years ago I was in a grocery store parking lot with my wife and kids getting in the truck to go home and I seen one of the old JW elders I have known forever looking at me and smiling and just kind of wanting to come over and strike up a conversation with me. It was funny and strange all at the same time. Funny because I have been DA'd since 1989 and though this same elder was and is I think a nice guy it was common for him to stop by once a year or so to invite me back to the hall and all that crap. But it was strange because he was hanging out all awkward and it was obvious that he wanted to come over and talk to me yet didn't know if he should interupt me I guess. Anyway, I just acted like I didn't see him.. HAHA Guess I was the one doing the shunning that time
