But now, lo and behold, that generation is nothing more than the nasty masses of mankind out to reject Jesus and his people. Oops
Isn't the double speak of the WTS truly amazing? I cannot believe their hubris.

i remember how this was a very important point when i was studying back in the late 80's.
it was explained to me over and over that this system would defenitly end before the generation of 1914 passed away.

Surreptitious,
Thank you for posting the articles.
Welcome to the board. I hope you enjoy your time here.

i saw the thread on tbn, and felt this question was a good one to pose to the board.. .
tithing is being preached more and more in many christian denominiations.
a chrisitian is under obligation before anything else to give 10% of gross income to the church.
Nowaytess,
Good post.
Irregardless of what the Bible says on the subject, I have found giving to be beneficial. By giving to the needy and animal causes but not the church (because I am not a member of a church), I feel good. Also, since I started giving, it seems to me that my money comes back to me. Others have told me that when they started giving, they too started having extra money and blessings come to them.
Whereas, it is difficult to give a tenth (a tith), give what you can from your heart. It has been my experience that God repays the ones trying to help make a difference on his/her earth.
I know that in my first paragraph, I disregarded what scripture says but Proverbs 19:17 does comes to mind:
"He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again." KJV
As far as giving to a church, the church does have monetary responsibilities and many churches do have a food pantry for the hungry and give money to their members when they need financial help. I have known churches that have paid the heating or light bill not only for its members but for non members also. I can't see any reason not to give money to help the church out in its many charitable causes.

i feel very sad today.
i see my old jw friends almost every day on my way to the subway, they are street witnessing.
i've talked to a couple of them about my doubts, etc.
I haven't touched a canvas in years...maybe it is time to buy some paint or pastels and get to work.
Eisenstein,
I agree with you and Comf on this one. To me, a person should not keep their art bottled up inside them; they must create. If not, it burns you up and causes depression.
When you finally put brush to canvas, take a pic and post it. I would love to see it.
Love,
Robyn
is this just a board to you?
do you really care about the people here?
have you made "real" friends here??
My life is better being with my cyber freinds than without them.
Hillbilly,
What a wonderful thing to say. Sentiments like the one quoted above, are one of the reasons that I consider you to be one of my bestest cyber buddies. I am so grateful to Simon and this forum for helping us to rediscover each other after all these years.
mac, of the I'll never look as sexy as Hill in strapless bibs class
Mac,
I think you and Hillbilly would look even sexier in a low-cut milking blouse.
Love,
Robyn

one of our neighbours had a nasty car accident (but was ok) and had to leave earlier to get the train to work.. she brought her daughter round in the morning as angharad had agreed to take her to school with our two and she is in dylan's class (our youngest).
she is absolutely gorgeous and her and dylan are inseperable.
he got into trouble last week for fighting (he's three and a bit) but we have since found out that the lad he pushed over had been picking on his little friend (that's my boy .
Cute little girls like that with big blue eyes should definitely be banned as they can make the week willed like myself want to have more kids (argh!!).
Simon,
What a sweet story. Be careful or the stork will be bringing you another little bundle of joy. If that's the case, I hope she is cute with big blue eyes.

Shera,
Thank you for posting the article. I appreciate your efforts.
It felt odd to me to wade through more WT gobbleligook after all these years. This is a quote from the above article:
Later in 31 C.E., as Jesus and his disciples set out on their second preaching tour of Galilee, some of the scribes and Pharisees asked Jesus for a sign. He told them and the crowds who were present: A wicked and adulterous generation keeps on seeking for a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah the prophet. For just as Jonah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights, so the Son of man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights. . . . That is how it will be also with this wicked generation. (Matthew 12:38-46) Obviously, this wicked generation included both the religious leaders and the crowds who never came to appreciate the sign that was fulfilled in Jesus death and resurrection.
By their own words they condemn themselves.

Oh Wow. Well, I think that I need to lay down now. All the anger I am feeling right now can not be good.
My God, as long as I have been out, the WTS can still make me want to puke.
Thank you Irongland for updating me.

Robyn says to find what's true for you - but I say to find the One who is true.
Puffus,
Robyn didn't say that at all. I said: Soon it began to occur to me that maybe no religion had the truth because it was up to US to develop a personal relationship with God.
How is this not finding as you put it "the One who is true"?
If you are going to quote me, quote me correctly.
