Animal Farm
Even my young kids at the time saw the connection.
i've heard various suggestions of movies to show a dub.. those of us with a spouse / family in the borg might find it pretty useful to rent such movies as just another way of chipping away at the indoctrination, or drawing attention to the wts control tactics.. one movie i saw which was somewhat helpful was one called "equilibrium", which was suggested on this board a while back.
its about a society that has acheived peace and order by requiring everyone to repress their emotions through sedatory drugs.
the good thing about this one was when it showed how everyone was so indoctrinated to follow the directives of the organization in charge, with every person keeping an eye on everyone else.

I was early for an elders meeting. Sitting there alone in the KH library I started reading one of Joe Rutherford's books. What the Proclaimers book said he wrote and what he actually did write were two completely, differnt versions. As I was reading my mind was going "WTF"?
1. albert woolson of minnesota was the last authenticated survivor of.
the civil war.
woolson served as a union drummer boy and died in 1956. .
This is also changing the subject a bit. The United States never had a Civil War. We did however have the War of Northern Agression and there wasn't anything civil about it.
Which side fired the first shot? You're not going to get me to defend either side as right or wrong. There was plenty of both on each side.

Even warfare, however grotesque, had an air of respect and professionalism that I do not think is often seen nowadays.
Yes and no. For example, the North and South freely exchanged POWs at the beginning of the war but this hit a snag when the South refused to recognize black Union soldiers as POW and wouldn't exchange them. The North responded by not exchanging Southern POWs. The result? POW camps swelled in size. Toward the end of the war, the South had a hard time feeding their own troop let lone POWs. At one POW camp in the south, Andersonville, 30% of the POWs died from hunger and dieses within 14 months. If you look at photos from this POW camp, you'd think it was something from a German concentration camp.
I also believe that while their was an "air of professionalism" among the generals on both sides, these same individuals thought very little of the lives of their own troops. The outdated tactics (lining up men in rows i.e. American Revolution, Napolean, etc.) they used against modern weapons (carbine rifles, machine guns, artilery, etc.) led to devastating causualties. Its amazing how the battles tactics on either side remained the same throughout the war - send in 40,000 troops against entrenched men on the other side, try to soften them up and retreat if their lines don't break. In one battle after another six, seven or eight thousand men would be killed. Then they'd set up shop else where and do the exact same thing.
Today it makes headlines when individual soliders are KIA.
women, you seem to always be able to admit that you can spot an attractive woman and be ok with it.
no need of having any fear of homosexual tendencies, not that there's anything wrong with it...but guys, will you ever admit that you can look at another man and know that he's attractive and good looking, with no fear within your inner being that you may be gay?.
i was in converse with my wife and mentioned to her how attracted men are to other women.
I think you're all gay.
lol
my husband and i play paintball and would love to meet others all over who do also.
we want to make a trip in a few years to go all over and try out different paintball courses.
my husband wasn't a jw so he doesn't know axactlly what i went through but he is a great support.
hey roybatty, It's a game for the young guys (and girls). ?? My husband is 31 and half the guys we play with including a women are in there 40's and up......yes it is a hell of a work out but well worth to some.......so silly, don't give me that excuse...
Then I need to play with you guys! lol. It is a blast though. The first time I played was years ago, back when I was in college. I only played one time and had some fun with my buddies. Back then it was nothing more then guys in the woods using single-shot guns to shoot this huge paintballs at each other. Today it's totaly differnt. I see guys in para-military gear talking about "squad size tactics" and "cover fire." I didn't know if I was playing a game with my boy or was suddenly transported to Iraq.
This one park I bring them to has three or four HUGE fields. One is a bombed out town, another is some type of temple in the jungle thing (a la Indiana Jones), then theres some junkyard and another one that I can't seem to remember (too many shots to the head). Anyway, I knew I was in trouble the first time we went when my son said to me "Here dad, you can use my old gun. It's good enough."
Little runt!
has it ever occurred to any body out there why jehovah's witnesses are so disliked/picked on etc?
do you ever wonder why we are the only religion that gets a bad rap?
doesn't that tell you non jw's out there anything?
Satan don't care not one iota about anybody, not you, not your child, not your unborn child, not how sick you are not anything
At least Satan doesn't promise to love us and then let's us live in misery for 6,000 years.

I've taken my 14 year old son and his friends several times to this place http://www.challengepark.com/ and have even been talked into playing a few times. It was a blast but dam I was tired at the end of the day. Some of these teams playing are ex-military guys. Cool to watch but too intense for me. It's a game for the young guys (and girls).
Channel surfing the other night and watched "Good Will Hunting" on A&E. That is a great movie.
yeah, right!
if they blow us up, who the hell will they sell their cheap shit to?
america is their #1 export country.
I use to think that China and the U.S. would have a shooting war over Taiwan. Instead, I now believe the Chinese wouldn't even have to fire a shot to cripple us from an economic standpoint. Look at all the goerment boands they own. They are basically floating our debt. If they decide to sell off these t-bills and/or not buy anymore, interest rates would skyrocket and it would cripple us. Secondly, with all the U.S. manufacturing now opening up shop in China, do you really think these corp. giants are going to let the U.S. screw up their plants in China?
No, big business and their deep pockets will force what administration in charge sacrifice Taiwan in the name of big business. Thanks Wal-Mart!
