There is NO difference between "inspired" and "guided by spirit".
Exactly, there is no difference. So many are brainwashed into just believing whatever is said even if it is contradictory....it is insane!
for those who want to see how bad it really is, 2 thoughts: .
1) the article says "jehovah" gave gifts in men, but the bible in gal: 6 clearly mentions the one who ascended into heaven as the one, jesus, their reigning king, that does provides these " the captives.. of course when wt writers say jehovah they really mean the wt society.
and local elders, ms, really are wt appointees, now done by the co, a man with no assets.

i've been out of the loop for a while so some things have passed me by.
so i'm curious how jw's are affected by the covid virus.
are they still preaching or having meetings etc?.
All good comments, even PIMI JWs are starting to wonder "where is this all going" as the org. has not responded tot he pandemic in any meaningful way. All of the online and meeting content to date is basically the same as 2019...no adjustments at all for the 2020 pandemic experience.
There is a recent article that says the celestial chariot responds immediately and adjusts. Where is the adjustment in messaging related to meetings and video content....nothing!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yciaw0m2-nqi'm a former member that has been out for the past few months and have been doing a lot of personal research.
i've been having mixed feelings about the gb whether or not their intentions are good or not.
the fact they have a protocol of moral lying through "theocratic warfare" very much turned me off from having anything to do with the org.
BlueBrother: Also, if you are an aging person or having aging parents (like I do) you very quickly hit a cement wall of reality when they have no money, no help and no resources to deal with old age. Many, many baby boom JWs are hitting this reality and the org. has got nothing for them at the end of a life giving everything to the WTBTS.
the life story in the latest wt has a running theme that keeps popping up: if the organization tells you to do something, you do it.
this culminates in the following anecdote:.
we were staying in abrother’s home right next to a kingdom hall.. .
Much of what the organization is publishing at this point is contradictory and your insane (or an idiot) if you can comprehend it. Even my PIMI father has expressed concern the org. has driven off a cliff related to what people inside think. His best example is the endless meetings that continue in the middle of a pandemic that indicate the pandemic has not happened. I told him the example of the celestial chariot having a flat tire and he had a good laugh about that.

The article in last Sunday's WT also went back to saying that these men are appointed by Holy Spirit. Which the org. has been waffling on for quite some time now. I find it hilarious that the org. goes back and forth between saying that no one on earth is "Inspired by Holy Spirit" anymore. I have sat 3 feet away from a current GB member and he told me....GB are not inspired! But then in articles and talks....everything is being done by holy spirit and all decisions are done by holy spirit...
So which is it, holy spirit is helping everyone make decisions or no one is inspired by holy spirit???? LOL
today's article prods active jws to participate in the effort to reactivate us backsliders.. unfortunately, it fails to prepare the participants to adequately address the real reasons so many have left and want nothing frtherethan to be left alone: the un and child abuse scandals, prophetic failures; dumbed-down, increasingly specious and simplistic verbiage in literature and talks, the cult of personality and unwarranted veneration of those 8 singularly unremarkable members of the gb, etc., etc..
FedUpJW
My thought was that JW policies, rules and traditions are very effective at getting people out of the organization. The ministry brings in very few. If the GB would think to have an accountant or organizational strategy person help them out they would learn that reducing the number of things that cause people to leave....would greatly increase the "growth" of the organization long-term.
in one of the study articles from the november 2020 edition, is mentioned (free quotation):.
"don"t get disturbed if your kingdom hall will be sold".
food on the right time, i asume?.
Great discussion and definitely a topic that people are thinking about even if they don't admit it. My PIMI Dad and I had this discussion. He said the GB is racking their brains trying to figure out what to do. He had two main thoughts:
1. Org. does not have any good content to put into the magazines in place of what was already developed. If they wanted to change it, what would they come up with that would fill the endless amounts of time that is now filled with things related to the door to door ministry????
2. Door to door ministry is not coming back soon. Letter writing and phone calling is much more efficient (meaning requires less time) and therefore people have lots more time. What can the GB come up with that is an alternative to the hugely inefficient time waster that is the door to door ministry.
So if this lasts 1-2 more years many places.....what endless amount of content are they going to come up with that is a different topic to fill up meeting parts, magazines, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
the final talk of the saturday afternoon online convention is given by lett, sporting a creepy looking combover, which for some reason, looks creepier than normal.
he talks about how those resurrected will need to come into line with a new moral code otherwise they will be destroyed.
he uses an example of gay people having to turn away from their inclinations even though they may feel that they are perfectly acceptable.. this demonstrates that the gb feel that being gay is a taught behaviour rather than an imperfect unnatural desire, otherwise they would be growing out of that desire as they develop towards perfection, as they teach.
BluesBrother - Everyone also has to acknowledge that much of the current way of presenting information and content represents the thinking/ideas of the latest batch of GB/Writing members of WT that have come into place in the last 20-30 years. Just like 1980-2000 was a different group of individuals the current batch has its own ideas and way of communicating things.
Lett, Morris, Heard, Losch and Splane will not live that much longer......as they die off the message style and content of the messages will change. Every 10-20 years there is a new batch of GB and things change again.
just curious of others thoughts.....while watching the latest round of convention videos with my pimi wife it was highlighted again in the content how much the wt org.
has always focused on the past (in my opinion).
many of the historical events that are highlighted as significant are from 100+ years ago in some cases.
Great comments all. Thanks for posting the video Slim, we watched that one several times on VHS prior to being accepted to Bethel back in the early 90s.
My original thought was that many even "marginally" successful large organizations very specifically have a focus on the present and future so that they can engage with people that are within the 15-55 age groups. It is part of their plan/strategy to grow and preserve the organization long-term. What surprises me is that no one at Bethel is steering the content and direction towards appealing to a younger demographic to try to stabilize the downward trends.

Many of the historical events that are highlighted as significant are from 100+ years ago in some cases. These historical events mean little to current JWs and most (all?) don't grasp any meaning in the things that have happened around 1900 timeframe.
As I have worked with many large organizations as part of my career - it has been a striking contrast for me as most large organizations will give some acknowledgement to their past.....but in almost every example they are focused on the future and their current audience/membership/customers/etc. How they can do things in a way that sets their specific organization on a positive path for the future.....for whatever area they may focus on.
Watching the convention videos confirms that largely old white men present messaging and there are routine references to the significant things from the early 1900s. Not surprising that the org is flatlining/dropping in membership.
To answer my own question, my thought is that the org continues to struggle with an new content and so going back to things from the past is the only tool in their tool belt.
Just curious if others have had that realization before.
