Is it so mad to think Iran won't toss a nuke at Israel if Russia is there to step in to tell Iarael "don't retaliate"?
Allegiances are more important than individual countries.

It's easy to explain that difference - one of those measurements is in "Pyramid Inches".

our congregation is rationing regular bibles like they're gold bars.
i was told that bethel is out of stock!
anyone else hear about this?
All this talk of the WT being short of cash.
I really do not see it.
They, by all counts, are rolling in the stuff!
There's got to be a different explanation.

predicted armageddon would come when?.
today i added a new article to my blog highlighting watchtowers play-toying with predictions of armageddon.
the organizations governing body apparently knows how to cry wolf!
Can they really then print this?
*** g93 3/22 p. 3 Why So Many False Alarms? ***
THE story is told of a boy who watched the sheep of the villagers. To stir up a bit of excitement, one day he cried out, “Wolf! Wolf!” when there was no wolf. The villagers rushed out with clubs to drive off the wolf, only to find that there was none. It was such great fun that later on the boy repeated his cry. Again the villagers rushed out with their clubs, only to discover that it was another false alarm. After that a wolf did come, and the boy sounded the warning, “Wolf! Wolf!” but the villagers dismissed his cry as another false alarm. They had been fooled too often.
So it has become with those who proclaim the end of the world. Down through the centuries since Jesus’ day, so many unfulfilled predictions have been made that many no longer take them seriously.
Gregory I, pope from 590 to 604 C.E., in a letter to a European monarch, said: “We also wish Your Majesty to know, as we have learned from the words of Almighty God in Holy Scriptures, that the end of the present world is already near and that the unending Kingdom of the Saints is approaching.”
In the 16th century, Martin Luther, progenitor of the Lutheran Church, predicted that the end was imminent. According to one authority, he stated: “For my part, I am sure that the day of judgment is just around the corner.”
Concerning one of the first Baptist groups, it is reported: “The Anabaptists of the early Sixteenth Century believed that the Millennium would occur in 1533.”
“Edwin Sandys (1519-1588), Archbishop of York and Primate of England . . . says, . . . ‘Let us be assured that this coming of the Lord is near.’”
William Miller, generally credited with founding the Adventist Church, is quoted as saying: “I am fully convinced that sometime between March 21, 1843, and March 21, 1844, according to the Jewish mode of computation of time, Christ will come.”
Does the failure of such predictions to come true convict as false prophets those who made them, within the meaning of Deuteronomy 18:20-22? That text reads: “The prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die. And in case you should say in your heart: ‘How shall we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken?’ when the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak.”
'Hypocrisy' is not a big enough word.

from talking to several fading jws over the years, it really does appear that assembly talk assignments are usually given to those pos who consistently hand over the thickest envelopes to the co at the end of his week-long visits.
if the envelope was too thin (or there was no enevelope at all), chances are that no one in that congo would get an assemby talk assighnment.
also, if the co and his wife were treated well or taken to expensive restaurants during their visit, that apparently increased the po's chances of getting an assembly talk assignment.
I had a falling out with a CO which had him come back and apologise to me.
I have never given money to a CO.
Yet I have been assigned items at the Assembly.
Might just be the exception to the rule though.

once baptised, apart from death there are really just two ways to leave the congregation: df or da.. but notice this quote:.
"does he really desire to disassociate himself, or does he simply no longer want to associate actively with the congregation?".
- shepherd the flock of god (2010) p. 111. .
Just read this on the official website which reinforces the view that there is a third way to leave:
Those who were baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses but no longer preach to others, perhaps even drifting away from association with fellow believers, are not shunned. In fact, we reach out to them and try to rekindle their spiritual interest.

http://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/family/children/become-jehovahs-friend/videos/stealing-is-bad/.
caleb sees some brightly-colored lollies.. caleb's mom tells him they're not buying candy today.. caleb puts down the lollies, sulking.. caleb thinks about stealing just one lolly, but remembers his dad's words at family study, that if he steals he won't be jehovah's friend.. caleb puts back the lolly smiling, and runs along.. .
hardly a gripping plot.
Stealing is bad, mmkay.

here is what got my spidey senses tingling: paragraph 16, reference to daniel p mannix book, was wondering if his statement was mis-quoted so i did my research.......but was even more shocked when i saw this: .
from amazon dot com reviews................ probably the most provocative work of historical fiction published this century,"those who are about to die" is pure mannix at his best.
a uncensured exploration of what likely took place in the circuses of ancient rome.
As jwfacts mentions, this book was reprinted in 2001 as "The Way of the Gladiator" which Amazon do a kindle version for £4.30.
I'd be interested to know how many christians Daniel Mannix says died during those times.
Would there be more than 144,000 do you think?

there is rumors that in this years dc nwt will be released and also new tracts.
any other rumors about new releases?.
I heard a while back that a new NWT was on it's way.
One of the changes is that whenever there is the 'inserted' brackets [like this] to indicate something not in the original text has been added, those brackets will be removed but the additional text will remain.
For example:
(Ro 6:7) . . .For he who has died has been acquitted from [his] sin.
will become
(Ro 6:7) . . .For he who has died has been acquitted from his sin.
Let's see if that one has legs!
