Oh, and just to add to Blondies list about Chess:
IS CHESS A SAFE GAME TO PLAY?
NO - g73 3/22 p. 14 Chess—What Kind of Game Is It?
Some chess players have recognized the harm that can result from playing the game.
The extreme fascination of chess can result in its consuming large amounts of one’s time and attention to the exclusion of more important matters. Also, in playing it there is the danger of “stirring up competition with one another,” even developing hostility toward another, something the Bible warns Christians to avoid doing.
Then, too, grown-ups may not consider it proper for children to play with war toys, or at games of a military nature. Is it consistent, then, that they play a game noted to be, in the opinion of some, an “intellectualized equivalent of the maneuvers enacted by little boys with toy soldiers”? What effect does playing chess really have upon one? Is it a wholesome effect?
Surely chess is a fascinating game. But there are questions regarding it that are good for each one who plays chess to consider.
YES - g79 1/22 p. 10 Playing Indoor Games
And, of course, chess is another board game that has long provided many persons much pleasure.
NO - g94 1/22 p. 29 Watching the World
There is growing concern that such amusement encourages violence. University of Calgary sociology professor Robert Stebbins said in The Globe: “There is a fuzzy line between war games considered problematic and those considered acceptable, such as chess with its castles and armies. The intent is violent.” One teenage player said: “It seems kind of weird to promote a game for pleasure that is associated with war. . . . When you think of the message this gives, it doesn’t seem right.”
YES - g96 9/22 p. 22 How Can I Have a Good Time?
What are some things you can do at a gathering—besides simply watching TV, listening to music, or conversing? “We usually plan the evening in advance,” says Sanchia. “We’ve played games or had someone play the piano, so we could sing songs together.” An African youth named Masene says: “We sometimes play cards, draughts [checkers], and chess.”

I liked paragraph 7:
7 On the other hand, what if your aim is merely to become wealthy? Perhaps you will succeed. Even if you do, however, remember that such “success” will come at a price—one that you cannot afford.
So there it is, no question.
"Success comes at a price you cannot afford."
Next time you see a successful JW, know he has paid an unpayable price for it.

did you ever have elders forget to due their due diligence and read fake stories from the platform?
i got a great email i need to format about several stupid elders and ministerial servants who read spoof jw urban legends from the platform.
big brother said one of the clowns did this while the c.o.
We were once told that the Wiltshire standing stones at Stone Henge could only have been put there by the nephilim.
It was a strange year that year. We also had a CO tell us that "perhaps the great tribulation HAS already begun!"
Both of these from the platform.

i just read a post on monday aprox 9pm on the "escuela del ministerio teocratico/theocratic ministry school" on facebook (posted in spanish).. it is talking about an experience given in a ohio, circuit assembly.. it reads that a brother that was a worker at the factory obama was visiting, was able to preach briefly to president obama and place the book 'what does the bible teach' during a quick meet and greet.. i think its bullshit.. anyone ever heard of this experience at a assembly?.
i dont have a cpu, and my phone is not working, for me to copy, translate and post on here for you all to see.
maybe one of you can?.
I remember watching the BBC when Prince Charles married Lady Diana.
The commentator was explaining some of the wedding gifts received from the public, and there was a camera fly-by of a whole load of items.
I saw one of the items was a WT publication. I can't remember which one.
Probably someone thought it a good idea to give them the Family Life book.

hi all, i'm new but have read an awful lot here plus jwfacts and jwsurvey over the past months, also the coc book.. i'm not a jw (and never will be) but have a wife who is a 'want-to-be' jw.
this is quite a challenge for me as i already had an idea on some of the points jws stick to, but now with everything i have learned about the high-control methods, the changing doctrines, and the cover-ups, it's a real concern.... anyway, i was putting forward the notion that jw's don't help anyone in disaster zones, except jws, or by giving out wt tracts or magazines (which would be really useful to homeless, hungry and cold families).
she didn't know, and doubted it, so i told her to ask an elder if the wt provides assistance at all anywhere.. she reported back that the elder said the wt does contribute to the red cross.
Blondie:The WTS subtly discourages giving to any charities
Subtly??
*** w50 12/15 p. 507 Religious Charity versus Good Works ***
It is no secret, many so-called “charity” organizations operate a fraud and racket. For example, the New York Times, September 6, 1950, carried an account of how certain “religious charitable organizations” operating in Brooklyn, New York, are giving the poor only 15 per cent of the money they beg from the public. The other 85 per cent goes for what they call “overhead” expense. God’s faithful people cannot afford to donate to such organizations. They must use what they have to preach this gospel of the established Kingdom for the benefit of the poor everywhere, as commanded.—Matt. 24:14.

yesterday, i had the opportunity to review the official jw invitation to their "memorial" event.
the front of the flyer has a well-groomed, caucasian jesus, leading all the minority people somewhere .
most likely to a factory in brooklyn to serve as slaves for a publishing company.. curiously, there is no mention of jehovah's witnesses anywhere on the face of that flyer.
And why, on the official website, has the front image been changed to remove all of the 'faithful ones of old' behind Jesus' shoulder?
There's just a big blank space there now?

i came across an article in the feb 1, 1955 watchtower (questions from readers) which discusses 1976 as being 6,000 years since the creation of adam.
the question being addressed was -.
what are the reasons for changing the date of adams creation first from 4028 b.c.
There was one further adjustment to the date Adam was born, in 1967.
Here's the list so far:
ADAMS CREATION DATE
1935 : 4028 BC on Friday March 21st at 3:00am! - Golden Age March 13th 1935 p.382
1935 to 1944 : 4028 BC - w55 2/1 Questions From Readers p.94
1944 to 1953: 4026 BC - The Truth Shall Make You Free p.150 - 151
1953- 1967 : 4025 BC - New Heavens and a New Earth Chart p.364
1967 - present : 4026 BC - w67 7/15 p.446

edit correction:.
the court web site lisiting reflects the following below, but we have been informed that the watchtower society has been given yet another extension until march 26, 2013.. the below post will be left as is, for those who may have wondered what happened.. .
congratulations candace conti.
So if March 26th comes and goes with no action, the case will close and the original verdict will stand.
I wonder if this could be spun as "The courts imposed an unrealistic 2 week deadline on WTS knowing they would not be able to respond in time. Thus Satans system appeared to have succeeded in maligning Jehovah's name with false charges" type of thing.
The dubs would lap that up and over time it would become accepted history.

i stole this from another forum and everyone was a born in.
has anyone on here actually been converted in door to door ministry since 1995?
all comments are welcome as to how you were sucked in.
My observation is that most baptisms are youths pleasing their parents or partners of current JW's, and often those coming in from the field are either troubled, vulnerable or simple-minded (in the true sense).
I haven't seen a confident, educated person come in from the d2d work in decades.
