  A friend gets his last check from a JW company.....

  so basically he is a subcontractor for a company that owes him money, and has been paying him very poorly for his service.

  (industry wide problem).

  so he e mails them a venting e mail, saying he will no longer take work, giving them a date he expects the pay to be cut or he leins properties etc.... he gets a response, they go back and forth, and the last response they send the check and at the bottom post a scripture (he didn't remember which one) with the phrase "and we will continue to serve our god jehovah".

  When the young ones outnumber the old ones, that will really mix things up.
  You know how it is with BoE's when you have a couple of consipiring young elders who get their heads together to shake things up.

  March Moooooodiness

  i had a fantastic february, went over my sales target by 121 %, did a fabulous school pull out feature (all on my own) wrote a couple of stories that got printed in the paper.

  i was go go go in feb. then come march, work forces a technical error issue to arise regarding previous months sales (they don't want to pay me the full 10k) and in order to fight it - takes far too much stress so negotiated an agreement (settling on 7.2k).

  that kind of took the wind out of my sails/sales, just haven't felt like selling again, went for another job interview, they offered exactly what i'm getting here and when i tried negotiating they haven't even had the ettiquette to return calls / emails.

  There are always good and bad months when it comes to work.

  Jan and Feb for me were atrocious. I had to decide whether I should get yelled at by my manager for not doing something for him, or yelled at by some other part of the company for not doing something for them. Nice choice.

  I opted to get yelled at by my manager but then showed him the good results I'd had else where, to try to mitigate a bit.
  So there's me all stressed out and cheesed off, then we come to March and everything is going well (so far!)

  Don't focus on the negative - it's soon forgotten. Just look forward to the next time you get that feeling of doing a great job and being rewarded for it.

  Pretty much everyone is in a similar boat - trying to do what we can for ungrateful managers in impossible timescales, just to make a living.

  You're tenacious and determined and take the initiative to get things done. Give it another week or so and you won't even remember feeling fed up about this, you'll be getting your teeth into the next challenge!

  Recreation is very dangerous. Take playing cards for example:

  However, when one hears the popular call, ‘Cards, anyone?’ it is good to keep in mind that card games, like all other forms of entertainment, can consume a lot of time. When any amusement or entertainment goes beyond what is actually good for relaxation, the time used becomes wasted time, time in which more important matters should be cared for. As a consequence, the individuals involved suffer, often both materially and spiritually.

  I've also noted how playing cards is seen to be harmless at some times, yet stated as having occult beginnings in other WT magazines.

  I'm all confused. Can I play cards or not????

  Higher Education

  my wife told me today that during a conversation with a relative on the phone recently, the relative said that someone in their congregation had been invited to take part in a branch extension in a foreign country.

  this young woman who had been asked to take part is a solid witness, though not a pioneer, but guess what?

  she is an architect!

  The footnote read something like "we don't advocate getting these skills through higher education" or some such.

  some have inquired if the faithful and discreet slave are spirit directed and are truely getting new light, why does the new light change so often, as with the case of the understanding of the generations?

  imagine a baker bakes a fresh batch of loaves of bread.

  CO's & DO's age 70+ to be laid off on 9/1/14

  in a private conversation with a c.o.

  friend from north carolina, he told me yesterday that they just got a letter that all traveling overseers (do's & co's) age 70 & up are going to be laid off on 09/01/2014.

  they will be asssigned to local congregations and further details are pending.. .

  thedog1 The expenses they accrue should, more or less, tally with receipts they give to the bro who takes care of the money

  Our CO asks for two cheques and two receipts. One for all his fuel and the other for any purchases he's made while being here.
