  Emotional cruelty law considered in the UK.

  "the (uk) government is considering whether to introduce a new offence of emotional cruelty to children, it has been confirmed.

  the proposed change to neglect laws in england and wales would see parents who deny their children affection face prosecution for the first time.. mr williams's bill would add a further category of harm for which the perpetrator could be punished: impairment of "physical, intellectual, emotional, social or behavioural development".

  i'd like to hear from mr paul gillies or any other watchtower representative in the uk as to how they'd square this proposed new legislation with their doctrine of disfellowshipping minors.

  this is strictly academic, but i have wondered whether the 144,000 might have been realized long ago.

  we know from scripture that there were thousands "added" in the first century, and that according to the fds they were all of the anointed, heavenly-hope class.

  In 1925 there were 90,434 partakers, everyone who attended partook.

  In 1935 there were 52,465 partakers, interestingly out of 63,146 attenders!

  Add to this last years figure of 11,824 who would not be in the 1935 figure, and you're up to 64,289 partakers in the last 100 years (ish)

  144,000 - 64,289 = 79,700 partakers between the first century and the 1935.

  But in the first century there were 3,000 baptized in Acts 2:41;

  "All of Samaria, both men and women" were baptized in Acts 8:9-12;

  and "many Corinthians" in Acts 18:8-11 which took 1.5 years.
  
  There are also many congregations mentioned in the scriptures, some written to, all full of baptized (anointed) people:
  There were "many in Joppa" (Acts 9:42),

  "a great number from Antioch" (Acts 11:21),

  "a great multitude in Iconium" (Acts 14:1),

  "quite a few in Derbe" (Acts 14:21),

  "a great multitude" in Thessalonica (Acts 17:4),

  "Many" in Beroea (Acts 17:12),

  "Jews and Greeks" in Corinth (Acts 18:4), and

  "many thousands (literally 'myriads' - 10,000's) of Jews" (Acts 21:20).

  Tacitus says that under Nero (2nd century) "a great multitude" of christians were executed.
  During the many persecutions under Maximus, 1,900 Christians were martyred in Sicily alone.
  Diocletian (3rd century) killed 17,000 in one month.
  Eusebius says that during one of the persecutions, ten thousand men (not counting women and children) were killed in Egypt. The executioners blunted their swords and had to work in relays.

  it has been a long time since i have been here, but i need you guys now.

  my mother-in-law is on her death been; most likely will not make it though the night.

  my husband and i have sat with her for the past two days, she is totally unconcious.

  In business you would only give authority and responsibility to those who merited it through experience and demonstrated capabilities.

  Elders are given authority and responsibility on the basis they merely turn up for the meetings regularly with a multicoloured underlined magazine, and do 10 hours ministry per month. Most don't know how to follow instructions and have no common sense whatsoever, thinking their juvenile decisions are beyond reproach.

  I can see some now, on the platform condemning homosexuality in such a way as to be guilty of hate crime, or making ridiculous decisions that impact peoples lives. It's only a matter of time before it all blows up again.

  No wonder the elders are causing the WT so many problems that they want to drop all liability for them.

  The Watchtower is under siege from inside and outside

  that is the reason the watchtower leaders are desperately trying to protect their indoctrinated supporters from being influenced by the critics.. it will get harder and harder to recruit in countries where the internet is easily accessible...the watchtower has no control over the public like it does the indoctrinated jws.

  ..any interested person can very easily google and learn the truth about the watchtower cult before a 'return visit' can be made.

  although most jws would be afraid to go into 'apostate ' sites, more and more are waking up to the truth about the watchtower , their interest triggered by different reasons such as the child abuse cover up, the constantly changing doctrines,the downsizing etc.

  There's a generational transformation going on as well.

  The older ones in the congregation are too invested and too technophobic to learn anything other than what is in the WT.
  These ones will take their dying breath while in allegiance to the WT (probably while on f.service).

  The younger ones are technology and information hungry and very comfortable researching everything.

  As time goes on and the older ones shuffle off their mortal coil, there will be fewer young ones filling the numbers.
  We are already seeing a dearth of qualified men, and all new recruits are, by and large, young teen born-ins.

  When there are a lot of young ones together there is peer pressure to stay in, but as the leaving and fading gathers momentum then that peer pressure reduces and the the leaving escalates.

  This doesn't happen overnight, it doesn't happen in a year, but over the coming two to three decades there will be a natural attrition which will not be compensated for. This will be intensified every time the WT comes out with another wacky idea.

  It's a slow process, but like the melting of the icecaps it has already started and is not easy to reverse.

  Many elders have poor education, low paying menial jobs and little else over which to feel respected or successful.

  Being an elder is the pinnacle of achievement for some who have nothing else to point at as a measure of success.

  No wonder they will cling to it despite it making them ill and destroying their families due to neglect.

  Anyone who was anointed prior to Franz death in 1992, and are still alive, make up the second group.
  The second group is therefore far from gone.

  This is the overlap - those who were anointed and saw 1914, and those anointed who overlap with them but did not see 1914.

  In fact the Gt. Trib is only possible before the second group is gone.

  Some of these teachings go so far back that I think the WT have forgotten where they come from.

  The same thought was also in an earlier WT:

(1 Sam. 9:15-17) Moreover, like a wolf that at evening divides the spoil from its hunt, so in the evening of the nation of Israel the tribe of Benjamin provided Queen Esther and Prime Minister Mordecai for the Persian Empire in the days of King Ahasuerus.

  An honest organisation would credit the source instead of masquerading as the source.
  Theologically this means that Gill was directed by the Holy Spirit to understand this prophecy. Therefore the Strict Baptists were then God's channel for communicating this truth, and this was done prior to the FDS arriving in 1919. If Jesus didn't arrive until 1914 then who gave this understanding to John Gill and why is it still correct?

  It undermines the WT statement that we cannot understand the Bible without the aid of the FDS, don't you think?
  It also makes you wonder what other teachings we have adopted and retained from Babylon the Great.
